Like Cynthia my children were all given evaporated milk for top-ups and when they were weaned - in 1960s Dr Spock was our only guide and I don't think he suggested anything else!

Evaporated milk is horrible.

Used to have it on pudd'n' but when i tried it recently I wondered why I ever did.

Take the top right off your condensed milk tin and tip the contents into the liquidiser, fill up the tin with single cream and tip it into the liquidiser, then fill it with whiskey and do the same.Put in a teaspoonful of instant coffee and give it a whizz.

Voila,Baileys!

Love condensed milk and evaporated milk, often prefer it to cream on pies and crumbles, not that we have many now as o.h. is diabetic so I end up eating too much lol

Condensed milk was sold in tubes a few years ago I think, I could happily eat the lot so I just don't buy it! My son's nan in Malta always served tea with evaporated milk, never quite tasted right but it was that or nothing. I suppose it's what she was used to, maybe only that when the Malta siege was going on, if any milk at all, she was just a teenager then.

Now you've made me fancy some evap. milk Gwen.

I dont like milk of any kind and never even have it my coffee yukkkk ....

Cythia a lady i work with brought her daughter up on evaporated milk, she said there was some kind of media attention on the standard baby milk at the time and was advised by the midwife to use evaportated milk. :-D

PH me too I sort of rolled my eyes and thought DIZZI ..lol :-D

Yummy....but messy in a sandwich Dizzi :-D

My son was actually brought up on evaporated milk and he is now a strapping 40 year old. I bet new mums would shudder at the thought - in fact - I doubt it would now be allowed.

My grandson had a phase of putting condensed milk on his ice cream... :-S

Hope you are feeling better.
