Good morning :-)

How good to hear that your husband is doing well Vera, but sorry that your brother isn't too well. Life certainly has it's ups and downs doesn't it? Thank you for your kind thoughts for those of us who are facing a Christmas without our beloved partners. I have already written a couple of Christmas cards with my OH's name on it and had to destroy them. Sigh. Do take care. <3

Joy is certainly what the world needs right now. So many people are having such a horrid time of it but, as someone who is going through a very difficult and stressful time at the moment said on another thread, I am warm, I have food and I have a roof over my head which is more than many have. I think we must all count our blessings and rejoice in those.

Thank you for enquiring about OH and my brother Kandj. It is kind of you to think of them. OH recovered well from all his problems and is now very fit, considerably fitter than many much younger men. My brother has had an up and down sort of year. The good spells have been very good but at the moment he is not very well.

I have been thinking of you Kandj as your memories must make this time of year difficult for you, and it must also be hard for Ellen, David’s wife, and our lovely Cynthia as they face the first Christmas without their partners. My love to you all.

Hello all

Gaudette Sunday and a time to rejoice.

A very dark dismal day today. I loved reading today's Advent calendar proclaiming JOY.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare Him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven, and heaven and nature sing.

Sylvia, day 13 and I'm fine with the Pukka teabags.

Hello all

Heavy rain and it looks set for the day. Hubby would always tell me, "It's just a wet day." and it is.
I need to focus on the blessings around me.

Loving today's Advent calendar words Cynthia.
It has brought Isaiah 41 v 13 into my mind.........

For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand, and
says; "Fear not, for I will help you."

One of my favourite verses from Scripture.

Vera, I hope your husband and your brother are both keeping well, after a difficult year for you all.

Sylvia, I do understand how your husband feels in church with no organ music or hymn singing.
It feels like something is "missing" but I'm pleased my village church is back open for worship again.

Sending hugs for those in need today. Stay safe all.

Good morning :-)

I sympathise with your OH Sylvia, hence the reason I am going elsewhere for the time being. :-D

Thanks Vera, I'm happy that you are enjoying the calendar. <3

I am enjoying the Advent Calendar very much Cynthia. Thank you.

I hope you are still enjoying your Pukka calendar Kandj and haven’t had Sylvia’s horrid reaction to the contents.

Take care and stay safe everyone.

Cynthia ............ true, I know!!

I think he's finding harder at the moment, because the music and singing is not there, and the priest is a bit of a boring sermon giver, so he's not getting that "fulfilment".

Good morning :-)

Every church I have ever known has been full of church chatterers Sylvia, sometimes good and sometimes not so good - one has to wade in carefully :-D :-D

OH has never said much about chatterers during communion, it's usually before and after church, especially when they used to have coffee in the Church Hall afterwards.

He hates being "grabbed" to be told "Did you know so-and-so has been away. Joe Blow told me, and he'd heard it from Tom Smith?"

................... and he doesn't even know so-and-so in the first place!!!

Good morning :-)

Very true Dermot, very true.

Chattering during Communion also drives me to distraction too. When things were as they used to be, we sat in front of two very nice elderly ladies. The thing is, once it all went quiet as people were going up to the altar to receive, they would start chattering. Oh my days and did they chatter!!! Everything about what they had done in the week to who had done what where. They were totally oblivious of the fact that they were distracting those around them. Ah well, such is life.

kandj ............... he is also 82, so an old man, but he has one old woman (same age as me!) who chases him 'cos she likes to talk to men. Nothing wrong in it, except she's as boring as all get out!

Hello all

Loving the Advent calendar, thank you Cynthia.

Sylvia, I don't take offence easily. Your husband has my sympathy. We also have "old women" muttering and gossiping during the giving out of the Holy Communion, it's definitely not the time or the place inmo, but it happens often and drives me to distraction !!

Stay safe everyone. Covid is still around us all.

Cynthia ..... he would be in his element!!!

kandj ........... I'm not sure how to say this, OH loves the church music, but he comes home almost swearing about the "old women" muttering and gossiping! :-D

Please don't take me wrong, but that church does have quite a lot of them.

Canada apparently will be getting some Pfizer vaccines next week, and they will start rolling them out to the provinces, with vaccinations the following week. Only about 250,000 doses spread between the provinces, but it's a start ........... health workers and people in care homes come first.

Each province is responsible for the vaccination procedures. It's as if each county in the UK had the rights while Boris etc couldn't order them how to do it ;-)

Hello all

Church yesterday and I was SO COLD inside.

It was good to watch the lighting of the 2nd Advent candle which represents the Prophets.

People of God; Be glad!
Your God delights in you.,
giving you joy for sadness
and turning the dark to light.
Be strong in hope therefore;
for your God comes to save
You are God's children.

Sylvia, I hope your husband is able to be back in his church before very much longer.
