Hello all
The last Sunday service of the year today. I spotted a tiny bunch of snowdrops near to the church porch. A beautiful sight and really helped to lift my spirits.
Keep well and stay safe everyone.

Good morning :-D
Collect (special prayer) for The First Sunday of Christmas
Almighty God, who wonderfully created us in your own image and yet more wonderfully restored us through your Son Jesus Christ: grant that, as he came to share in our humanity, so we may share the life of his divinity; who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Gospel Luke 2:15-21 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Good morning :-D
Hopefully, everyone has had as good a Christmas as we can, given the circumstances. Today, is a 'buy one get one free' day as it is both Boxing Day and St. Stephen's Day........??
A reminder.......Boxing Day got its name when Queen Victoria was on the throne in the 1800s and has nothing to do with the sport of boxing. The name comes from a time when the rich used to box up gifts to give to the poor. Boxing Day was traditionally a day off for servants, and the day when they received a special Christmas box from their masters. The servants would also go home on Boxing Day to give Christmas boxes to their families.
Churches also played a part in the creation of Boxing Day. Many of them stored the collection money in a box, which they opened on Christmas Day. The money was then handed out to the poor the next day - on Boxing Day.
December 26 also commemorates the life of St. Stephen, a Christian deacon in Jerusalem who was known for his service to the poor and his status as the first Christian martyr. He was stoned to death in around AD 36 because of his faith in Jesus.
Enjoy a restful day. Love to all Cx :-)

Good morning and a very happy and blessed Christmas to all friends on here.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

I have loved this year’s advent calendar Cynthia. Thank you for putting it up.
Thinking of all who are sick, poor or lonely this Christmas and for those who will be working instead of being at home with their families. My granddaughter will be working the night shift at the dementia care home on Christmas Day.
I am unlikely to come on line tomorrow but I wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas. God bless.

Hello all
Beautiful words in today's Advent calendar of the Magnificat, also known as Mary's Song and written in Scripture in Luke 1: 46-55 NIV Bible.
Tomorrow the 4th Advent candle will be lighted in church. This is a pink candle and represents Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
Hoping that Cynthia is having a day off and is ok?
Keep well, and stay safe everybody.

I do hope you are OK Cynthia and that you haven’t posted today because you have been busy.
I think lots of Christmas plans have been changed since the latest restrictions announced today. We had planned to spend Christmas Day with our daughter, staying overnight and coming home next morning but if we go at all we won’t stay. We were also supposed to see our son and family for just an hour on 27th but that has gone by the board. It’s disappointing as we haven’t seen them for 14 months now but we must just make the best of it and be glad that we are all still healthy.
Take care and stay safe.

I love family traditions Gwyn and we have a couple too. I think I am going to my son's for Christmas lunch but may end up here with my daughter if there is a another spike in infections. This virus has a lot to answer for.

Cynthia Thank you for posting the link to the calendar each day.
Today's calendar reminded me of a family tradition.
For many years now, each Christmas I take a special frosted glass winter scene tea light holder to whichever house we are going to have Christmas dinner. We place it on the dining table. We light the flame and remember people who have shared Christmas with us in the past. This year, my daughter here and I will light it at home. It will be strange just the 2 of us.

Hello all
Vera I also agree today's Advent Calendar was very profound writing from an 11 year old boy.
Such lovely news that your brother is home for Christmas..... definitely the best present ever.
Today I made a big effort and I put the tree up. It does looks very pretty, but it's difficult here alone.
Keep well and stay safe everybody.

Good morning
I think today’s link needs extending Cynthia but pressing any of the earlier links you gave us brings up the calendar anyway. I thought that was an amazingly sophisticated piece of writing from an 11 year old.
I have lots to be joyful about this morning. My brother was sent home last night after another short stay in hospital and this morning the sun is shining. What more can I want?
Have a good day everyone and stay safe.
