Ten minute poem.

A ten minute poem about a word,
seldom seen and hardly heard,
So if you see this word by chance,
Get in the street to sing and dance.
Something so little can make you feel tall,
Get your back from off the wall,
You'll feel so good, you can't contain,
The pleasure that's inside your brain.
Many people have used this word,
Many more have stood and heard,
The benefits that this word brings,
And many, many other things.
Peace and love to all the world,
Joyous banners have been unfurled,
These are the things that you will see,
When you have found the word like me.
But then you ask, what is this word?
That's seldom seen and never heard,
Should I look all over the place?
Or is it staring me in my face?
My friend, I tell you this today,
The word you seek is here to stay,

The word my friend is our Lord GOD
He's in your heart, he's in your soul,
He's right behind you as you grow old,

Sorry i didn't pop in yesterday.

My mother in law passed away very peacefully yesterday morning after a very long illness. We will miss her in our lives..

She was a week away from her 97th birthday on 4 May.

She had Vascular Dementia for the last year and was ready to be with her husband and family.

Hallo Tabitha, I've been sending positive vibes your way all day. I hope you get one of the jobs but, if not, don't despair but stay positive, the right job for you will be out there somewhere.

It is lovely news about your vicar Kandj. It is such a shame that these things can't be celebrated in the way we would like. As you say, it was good to see the cross of St George flying. Every so often someone suggests that we should replace St George with St Edmund as England's patron saint and I do have some sympathy with that view. At least he was English and we wouldn't be sharing him with several other countries :-)

Thank you Cynthia as always for your interesting posts.

It has been one of those lovely sunshiney days here where everything looks bright and fresh. It is hard to feel down on such a day; even doing a little work in our very small garden has cheered me up. Nature has such a healing power and we don't always appreciate what we have around us.

Tonight my thoughts are particularly with the people of India who are going through such a challenging and frightening time at the moment. My prayers are for those who are sick, those who are grieving and the medical staff who must be feeling completely overwhelmed.

Lovely news about your vicar - shame you couldn't see it on video or whatever its called theses days.

Had an interview yesterday and another one today at 1pm - just having a calming few mins. If anyone wants to send up a little thought for me to get one of the jobs i would be very appreciative. First interview since 2008 - was a little nervous - feel worse today though. How very silly.

Just had a seagull sort of floating/hovering on the wind outside my window for a few mins looking in - very unusual.

Hello all

It was exciting in church congratulating our vicar gaining an honorary canon title. Not a lot of happy news around so we made the most of it yesterday.

Lovely too, seeing the St George's Day flags still flying high on the shop fronts since the 23rd.
Makes me feel proud to be British and and to be a part of a village community.

Lovely news about your vicar kandj.....it's so sad that these special occasions are having to be held without friends and parishioners being present. Maybe there will be a date set for a future celebration once the restrictions have been lifted..


Yesterday, at Morning Prayer, we had an ordinand in training speaking to us about ‘God moments’. There are those people who can truly say they have experienced such a moment – a moment which they had not expected but they knew it was God at work.

Great excitement in church today as the vicar was ordained as an honorary canon mid week, sadly given covid-safe rules, no parishioners were able to take part or witness this very special event.

The sun is out but there's a cool breeze today, stay safe and keep well everyone.

Off to church in a moment - not sure if I am coming or going - a bit of a hectic Saturday yesterday as I was power washed - not me - I mean my garden area. :-D


The Collect (special prayer) for today:


Almighty God,
whose Son Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life:
raise us, who trust in him,
from the death of sin to the life of righteousness,
that we may seek those things which are above,
where he reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.


The gospel reading for today tells the story of Jesus being the Good Shepherd.

Hello Gwyn and Kandj, yes I think most home communions have stopped at the moment and people are really missing them. It helps those who are housebound etc., to still feel part of the church doesn't it? Hopefully, not too long before they can be resumed but I am sorry for those where there isn't an incumbent :-(

What's it all about? Holy Communion - this hymn says it all......


O thou, who at thy Eucharist didst pray
that all thy Church might be for ever one,

The small church near here often had a service of Holy Communion by extension, when bread and wine were brought to the service after being blessed at an earlier service that day at the main parish church.

Sadly, there aren't any services yet at the small church, after closing due to the pandemic in March 2020, as we are in a time of interregnum.

A bright blue sky here too, so good to see.

Many years ago I used to drive the Curate around the village and I joined in the H C service in elderly parishioner's homes. A great privilege and a joy.

What's it all about? Holy Communion

People who are brought up with the Anglican faith regard Holy Communion as central to their lives. However, as age takes its toll, some of the faithful become housebound or frail, but still wish to receive the Eucharist to which they are fully entitled – faith has no age limit.

In normal times, this is covered by Holy Communion being taken to them and can be of great comfort. Either the priest or an authorised person, takes bread and wine which has been consecrated at a recent service and kept ‘reserved’, to the person who has asked for it. A brief service takes place, and they are given this most holy Sacrament.

We are thankful for those who help with this special ministry, for their patience, understanding and willingness to support those in need.

‘The Church of God, of which we are members, has taken bread and wine and given thanks over them according to our Lord’s command. These holy gifts are now offered to us that, with faith and thanksgiving, we may share in the communion of the body and blood of Christ.’

What's it all about? Holy Communion

Holy Communion can take many different forms across the Church of England, and it may be understood by Christians in different ways, but at the heart of the celebration there is always a special prayer of thanksgiving, or ‘Eucharistic Prayer’ (Eucharist means to ‘give thanks’ in Greek). This prayer is offered by the priest who has led the service, giving thanks for all that God has given us in Christ.

It is indeed right,
it is our duty and our joy,
at all times and in all places
to give you thanks and praise,
holy Father, heavenly King,
almighty and eternal God,
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord.
For he is your living Word;
through him you have created all things from the beginning,
and formed us in your own image.
Through him you have freed us from the slavery of sin,
giving him to be born of a woman and to die upon the cross;
you raised him from the dead
and exalted him to your right hand on high.

Through him you have sent upon us
your holy and life-giving Spirit,
and made us a people for your own possession.
