Good morning :-)

It’s the silly season!

A man walking along a California beach was deep in prayer. Suddenly, he said out loud, "Lord, grant me one wish." The sky clouded above his head, and in a booming voice the Lord said, "Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish." The man said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over anytime I want to."

The Lord said, "That’s very materialistic – think of what is required, the concrete, steel, and the supports to hold it up. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your worldly wish. Take a little more time and think of something else”.

The man thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, "Lord, I wish that I could understand women. I want to know how they feel inside, what they are thinking when they give me the silent treatment, why they cry, what they mean when they say 'nothing,' and how I can make a woman truly happy.

After a few minutes, God said, "You want two or four lanes on that bridge?"

Good morning :-)

It’s the silly season!

An elderly woman had just returned to her home from an evening of religious service when she was startled by an intruder. As she caught the man in the act of robbing her home of its valuables, she yelled, 'Stop -Acts 2:38!' (..turn from your sin...).

The burglar stopped dead in his tracks. The woman calmly called the police and explained what she had done. As the officer cuffed the man to take him in, he asked the burglar, 'Why did you just stand there? All she did was yell a scripture to you.'

'Scripture?' replied the burglar, 'She said she had an AXE and two 38's!'

It’s too hot to be serious and it’s the silly season!

The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture. "Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer; she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael; he's a doctor.'" A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher, she's dead."

A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup to come out of the bottle. During her struggle, the phone rang, so she asked her four-year-old daughter to answer the phone. "It's the vicar, Mummy," the child said to her mother. Then she added, "Mummy can't come to the phone right now. She's hitting the bottle."

Good morning... :-)

Too, too hot!

Collect (special prayer) for today:

Almighty God,
who sent your Holy Spirit
to be the life and light of your Church:
open our hearts to the riches of your grace,
that we may bring forth the fruit of the Spirit
in love and joy and peace;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The gospel reading is Luke 12 49-56 Jesus reflects on some difficult things.

LOVE YOURSELF
As much as I love you, how can you not love yourself? You were created by me to be loved, and to love in return.

I am a God of Love. Love me. Love your neighbours. But also love yourself. It makes my heart ache when I see you so angry with yourself when things go wrong. You are very precious to me. Don't ever forget that!

With all my heart, I love you,
GOD <3

BE PATIENT
I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime you could have so many diverse experiences. You grow from a child to an adult, have children, change jobs many times, learn many trades, travel to so many places, meet thousands of people,
and experience so much. How can you be so impatient then when it takes me a little longer than you expect to handle something on my to-do-list? Trust in my timing, for my timing is perfect. Just because I created the entire universe in only six days, everyone thinks I should always rush, rush, rush.

BE KIND
Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I love you. They may not dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same way you do, but I still love you all. Please try to get along, for my sake. I created each of you different in some way. It would be too boring if you were all identical. Please know I love each of your differences.

Your loving heavenly father. x

Hello all

I woke up this morning with this hymn in my head...and it's still there ... going round and around. Lovely words ( appropriate for our sunny day) and a catchy tune too. I thought I'd pass it on to all who look in today.

10,000 Reasons

Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I'll worship Your Holy name.

The sun comes up
It's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again.
Whatever may pass
And whatever lies before me
Let me be singing
When the evening comes.

You're rich in love and
You're slow to anger
Your name is great and
Your heart is kind.
For all Your goodness
I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons
For my heart to find.

Bless the Lord Oh my soul
O my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I'll worship Your Holy name.

And on that day
When my strength is failing
The end draws near and
My time has come.
Still my soul will sing
Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and
Then forevermore.

Bless the Lord Oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my Lord
I'll worship Your Holy name
I'll worship Your Holy name.

Take care in this hot weather everyone x

HAVE FAITH
I see a lot of things from up here that you can't see from where you are. Have faith in me that I know what I'm doing. Trust me, you wouldn't want the view from my eyes. I will continue to care for you, watch over you, and meet your needs. You only have to trust me. Although I have a much bigger task than you, it seems as if you have so much trouble just doing your simple part. How hard can trust be?

SHARE
You were taught to share when you were only two years old. When did you forget? That rule still applies. Share with those who are less fortunate than you. Share your joy with those who need encouragement. Share your laughter with those who haven't heard any in such a long time. Share your tears with those who are mourning. Share your faith with those who have none.

Your loving Heavenly Father. x

LEAVE IT ALONE
Don't wake up one morning and say, "Well, I'm feeling much stronger now, I think I can handle it from here." Why do you think you are feeling stronger now? It's simple. You gave me your burdens, and I'm taking care of them. I also renew your strength and cover you in my peace. Don't you know that if I give you these problems back, you will be right back where you started? Leave them with me and forget about them. Just let me do my job.

TALK TO ME
I want you to forget a lot of things. Forget what was making you crazy. Forget the worry and the fretting because you know I'm in control. But there's one thing I want you to never forget. Please don't forget to talk to me - OFTEN!
I love you. I want to hear your voice. I want you to include me in the things going on in your life. I want to hear you talk about your friends and family. Prayer is simply you having a conversation with me. I love you.

Your everloving heavenly Father. x

WORRYING ABOUT THINGS? PUT IT ON THE LIST
Something needs done or taken care of. Put it on the list. No, not YOUR list. Put it on MY to-do-list. Let ME be the one to take care of the problem. I can't help you until you turn it over to me. And, although my to-do-list is long, I am, after all, God. I can take care of anything you put into my hands. In fact, if the truth were ever really known, I take care of a lot of things for you that you never even realize.

TRUST ME
Once you've given your burdens to me, quit trying to take them back. Trust in me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your needs, your problems and your trials. Problems with the kids? Put them on my list. Problem with finances? Put it on my list. Problems with your emotional roller coaster? For my sake, put it on my list. I want to help you. All you have to do is ask.

Your everloving Father God. x

Effective Immediately:

Please be aware that you need to make changes in your life. These changes need to be completed in order that I may fulfill my promises to you to grant you peace, joy, and happiness in this life. I apologize for any inconvenience, but after all that I am doing, this seems very little to ask of you. I already gave you 10 Commandments - keep them, but follow these guidelines as well.

1. QUIT WORRYING
Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit and worry. Have you forgotten that I am here to take all your burdens and carry them for you? Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little thing that comes your way?

I will speak to you again tomorrow. Your Loving Father. God. x

Hello all

The last hymn sung in church this morning (my favourite) has been in my head all day long.
I'd like to share this beautiful traditional hymn with such meaningful words with you all right now...........

Oh Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works thy hand has made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to thee
How great thou art, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savour God, to thee
How great thou art, how great thou art!

When Christ shall come, with shouts of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart,
Then shall I bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to thee
How great thour art, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to thee
How great thou art, how great thou art!

The Collect (special prayer) for today:

Almighty Lord and everlasting God,
we beseech you to direct, sanctify and govern
both our hearts and bodies
in the ways of your laws
and the works of your commandments;
that through your most mighty protection, both here and ever,
we may be preserved in body and soul;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

The Gospel reading is from St. Luke 12 32-40 - Jesus tells us to be ready.

Thank You Lord
Thank you, Lord, for simple things
that brighten every day
like sunshine in the morning
and daffodils in May.

Thank you, too, for friends who care
when tears begin to fall
and thank you, too, for answered prayer...
the greatest gift of all!

Thank you for each spring bouquet
and for the summer rose,
for rainbows in the meadow
and every stream that flows.

Thank you, Lord, for simple things
which really are quite grand
for each one is a miracle
wrought by the Master's hand!

Good morning :-)

There was this Christian who saw a scorpion floundering around in the water. He decided to save it by stretching out his finger, but the scorpion stung him. The man still tried to get the scorpion out of the water, but the scorpion stung him again.

A man nearby told him to stop trying to save the scorpion that kept stinging him.
But the Christian said: "It is the nature of the scorpion to sting. It is my nature to love. Why should I give up my nature to love just because it is the nature of the scorpion to sting?"

Don't give up loving. Don't give up your goodness. Even if people around you sting.

Good afternoon :-)

I read this:

Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott. Jamie was trying out for a part in a school play. His mother told me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen. On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement. "Guess what Mom," he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me: "I've been chosen to clap and cheer."
