Hello all
A beautiful bright dry day here. A real tonic and just what we need right now.
It is the start of week 4 and not a great deal of improvement and hubby is worn out with constant ongoing pain. It can only get better.... or so we pray for his healing.
Thank you Vera, you are kind to think of us and of many others too who live away from family and are housebound and in pain.
Heavenly Father Open our eyes to the glory around us today Help us to overcome the pain and anxiety we feel In Jesus name. Amen

Good morning :-)
Indeed it is chilly, but the sun is out this morning, so it looks a better day than yesterday.
You are right about the days rushing by but I can imagine that some might find the days drag. If you do not have family and friends, if you are perhaps housebound and in pain, the days must sometimes seem very long. So my thoughts today are with them.
Kandj, if you are looking in, you and your OH are continuing to be in my thoughts <3

Good morning everyone
Sunday again - they come round so quickly and its getting a bit chilly now..
The Collect (special prayer) for today
O God, forasmuch as without you we are not able to please you; mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever Amen.
The gospel tells the parable of the mustard seed – increase our faith. Plenty of food for thought.

Good morning :-)
It’s the season of Autumn and yesterday was Michaelmas – St. Michael and All Angels Day.
St. Michael isn’t a saint, but rather he is an angel, and the leader of all angels and of the army of God. This is what the title ‘Archangel’ means, that he is above all the others in rank.
The Book of Revelation describes a war in heaven between angels led by the Archangel Michael against those led by the devil (Lucifer), who are defeated and thrown down to the earth. Coventry cathedral has a wonderful statue depicting this event.
An ancient Collect (special prayer) for this day.....
O everlasting God, who hast ordained and constituted the services of Angels and men in a wonderful order: Mercifully grant that, as thy holy Angels alway do thee service in heaven, so by thy appointment they may succour and defend us on earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Good morning :-)
I know what you mean Vera......it sort of sticks around. :-D
So here is the last verse......
Scent of gardens when the rain’s been falling And a minnow darting down a stream Picked-up engine that’s been stuttering and stalling And a win for my home team.
So I mustn’t forget No, I mustn’t forget To say a great big thank you I mustn’t forget.

Good morning :-)
As we look at another verse of that autumn hymn, we give thanks for those things for which we are grateful.
Whipped-up spray that is rainbow-scattered And a swallow curving in the sky Shoes so comfy though they’re worn out and they’re battered And the taste of apple pie.
So I mustn’t forget No, I mustn’t forget To say a great big thank you I mustn’t forget.

Good morning :-)
As we continue to look at the children's autumn hymn, we think of some of those things which we are grateful for.. even the very simple things....and we give thanks.
Clouds that look like familiar faces And a winter’s moon with frosted rings Smell of bacon as I fasten up my laces And the song the milkman sings. So I mustn’t forget No, I mustn’t forget To say a great big thank you I mustn’t forget.

Oh dear kandj, so sorry to hear this, I hope things improve soon but please take care of yourself too. <3
Autumn is full of such beautiful colours, scents and sounds and there’s a children’s hymn which sums it up beautifully…..we can go through it gently this week ... and give our own personal thanks for the absolute beauty of our world.
Autumn days, when the grass is jewelled And the silk inside a chestnut shell Jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled All these things I love so well
So I mustn’t forget No, I mustn’t forget To say a great big thank you I mustn’t forget.

Enjoy humming this tune for the rest of the day.....it's a bit addictive Cx :-)

Thank you Vera......your day sounds lovely to me too. <3
The Collect (special prayer) for today:
Almighty and everlasting God, increase in us your gift of faith that, forsaking what lies behind and reaching out to that which is before, we may run the way of your commandments and win the crown of everlasting joy; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The Gospel is from St Luke and tells the story of the beggar Lazarus and the rich man. A thought provoking story.
Love to all Cx :-)

Just letting you know you're not alone on here Cynthia.
Much to be thankful for today - beautiful sunshine, time spent with friends, lots of flowers in bloom in the garden and a husband who offered to cook dinner tonight. What more could anyone want? :-)
Keeping Kandj and her OH in my thoughts <3

We thank you Father for those who have made known the gospel to us – Those who have encouraged and instructed us in faith, Who have been a source of inspiration, Who have walked with us on our journey of discipleship.
We think of the wider fellowship that we share in Christ, The great company of your people in heaven and on earth To which we are privileged to belong, And so now we pray for those Who seek, in turn to follow you today. Amen.
I have been blessed with many such people in my life and I remember them with love and gratitude.

Good morning :-)
This prayer is so very true. The Church is full of people in the Autumn of their years. Some have led colourful lives leaves bronzed and golden through exposure to the elements their appearance the centre of attention. Others have been exposed to more extreme conditions branches bowed and scarred. Some go unnoticed, yet stand tall and steadfast against wind and rain. All have a story to tell all can offer support and shelter for saplings which grow beneath their leafy canopy. We thank you Lord for your Autumn people.

Today is the Autumn Equinox.......in other words........autumn begins today. Whilst I love the colours, I am not a big fan of this season....it means winter is on its way. :( There again, once it is winter, we know spring is not far away :-D
O God of Creation, you have blessed us with the changing of the seasons. As we embrace these autumn months, May the earlier setting of the sun remind us to take time to rest. May the crunch of the leaves beneath our feet remind us of the brevity of this earthly life. May the steam of our breath in the cool air remind us that it is you who give us your breath of life. May the scurrying of the squirrels and the migration of the birds remind us that you call us to follow your will. We praise you for your goodness forever and ever. Amen.
Love to all Cx :-)

How lovely to see both of you <3 <3
Yes Harvest time again.........a special day in the church's year. We had all the traditional hymns on Sunday and it was so nice..... :-)
The days are certainly changing, just as this prayer says….
In the fading of the summer sun, the shortening of days, cooling breeze, swallows' flight and moonlight rays We see the Creator’s hand. In the browning of leaves once green, morning mists, autumn chill, fruit that falls, frost's first kiss We see the Creator’s hand. Thank you Lord for Autumn days.

It is lovely that you have found time to post Kandj. I hope your hubby is starting to improve and that you are able to get some rest. Take care - you are both in our thoughts <3
Harvest Festival was very special when we were young. My parents didn't go to church but my mother would make up a little box of fresh fruit and veg for me to take. The church always looked wonderful but I suspect some of the produce was past its best by the time it got to the recipients. Tinned and packaged goods may not look as beautiful but are much more sensible and giving them is just as much an act of thanks for the bounty of the harvest.
Like many others I have been knocked sideways by the attack on an aid convoy in Syria. I've been thinking about it since I heard it on the news and I cannot get my head round it. It's just incomprehensible to me. How can any group of humans treat any other group in this way? Apart from being deprived of food and medical aid, those poor people must be close to losing all hope. My heart goes out to them <3

Hello all
Just popping in to say a BIG thank you for your thoughts and prayers right now.
Last week has been very painful to see hubby coping with another flare-up. I am weary as I try to do everything I possibly can to make him as comfortable as I can. A very tough week behind us now as we focus on him feeling a little better soon.
Can it really be Harvest Festival celebrations already?? Our village was once a small farming community when I was very young. The Harvest Festival service was a very big and exciting event as fresh produce was placed on the altar and decorated all the deep church windowsills all that time ago. Gifted food would then be taken to the elderly in our village who were so grateful to be remembered. Now most churches ask for dried, packaged or tinned food items or money to be handed over to the food banks or the homeless charities who work hard all year. Times change but the old traditional hymns are still as popular as ever, even now.
We Plough The Fields And Scatter. It wouldn't be Harvest without this hymn!
We plough the fields and scatter The good seed on the land But it is fed and watered By God's almighty hand; He sends the snow in Winter The warmth to swell the grain The breezes and the sunshine And soft refreshing rain.
All good gifts around us Are sent from heaven above So thank the Lord O thank the Lord For all His love.
Thank you Cynthia for all your postings. I hope to pop in again at some point when I have 5 minutes to myself.
