Hello all

I find it is taking longer to get on here, it's helps as I am a patient person.

No news of my hubbies brother, the family are still waiting beside J bedside.

Very sad news though that hubbies brother in law sadly lost his fight against cancer.
Kathryn and their adult children are devastated. Our family will all miss him so much.

Good afternoon :-)

I was all organised this morning and then got side tracked whilst waiting to get on here. And then I forgot. I was sitting in church when it suddenly dawned on me that I hadn't posted. It has still taken me ages to get on this site....... :-(

The Collect for today :

O Lord, we beseech you mercifully to hear the prayers
of your people who call upon you;
and grant that they may both perceive and know
what things they ought to do,
and also may have grace and power faithfully to fulfil them;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

In the gospel reading for today, we hear how the Jesus’ authority is questioned by the chief priests and elders of the temple, which leads on to the story of the father with two sons.

Good morning :-)

Getting on here this morning was like pulling hen's teeth! Grrrr.....Took me absolutely ages.

Its good to know that your brother is on the road to recovery Vera, and as for your grandson....WOW! He is one talented lad - hope he has a wonderful experience in the competition.

I hope you hear something about your brother-in-law soon kandj.....and its understandable that your OH is rather quiet bless him.

Having looked at Celtic prayers this week, I thought this was a good one to end on...

If there is righteousness in the heart,
there will be beauty in the character.
If there is beauty in the character,
there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home,
there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.
So let it be!

Love to all Cx. :-)

Hello all

...... and the Peace of the Lord be also with you Cynthia, and all who pop in here.

Vera, I hope your brother recovers well from his operation and gets the support he will need when he is able to go back home again. It's always an anxious time for the family and more so if relatives don't live nearby.

Boast away all you want to Vera!!! You have every right to be soooo proud of your Grandson's achievements. Being chosen for all these important events don't come without years of dedication and hours of commitment on his part. Hope he does well and that he enjoys the experience like before. An update would be good.

No news as yet about my brother in law. Hubby is very quiet but tells me he is "ok"

Sending ((hugs)) to those in need of one right now. xxx

I love the Celtic blessings and prayers Cynthia. Thank you for your posts.

I am so sorry to hear about hubby's brother Kandj. My thoughts are with you and all his family. Stay strong <3

Thank you for your kind thoughts for my brother. It will be some months before he is back to his old self but he is recovering well and is hoping to be able to go home soon, with a nurse calling every day for a while and other medical support.

I hadn't put up another thread as it seems like boasting again but a short while ago my grandson was selected to represent GB at the WORLD youth archery championships and today he flies to Argentina for the competition which starts on Monday. We are so proud of him. We pray for a safe flight and for friendship among the very many nations competing.

Special thoughts today for all who are sick or nearing the end of their lives. May they and their families find strength and comfort <3

So sorry to hear this news kandj - praying for you and your family <3

Vera's brother was undergoing an operation a few days ago, I do hope all has gone well. <3

A Scots Gaelic blessing

Peace between neighbours,
Peace between kindred,
Peace between lovers...
Peace between person and person,
Peace between wife and husband,
Peace between woman and children,
The Peace of Christ above all Peace.

As we say in church each Sunday, The Peace of the Lord be always with you.

Hello all

A very late posting as we are waiting for news from hubby family. His brother has been in hospital with sepsis and not responded to any antibiotics. Now J has been moved into a single side room and the family are told they can stay with him all night. It isn't looking at all good. Hubby lost a brother in 2015, a sister last year and we are waiting now to be told of yet another death in his side of the family..... not good at all.

I do enjoy reading the Celtic prayers. Thank you Cynthia.

Thinking now of all who will leave this life and of their families at the bedside tonight.

Good morning :-)

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine upon your window pane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near to you and
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
(traditional blessing)

Hope everyone is ok.

A smile for a grey day.

An Irish blessing.

As you slide down the bannister of life,
May the splinters never point the wrong way.

Good morning :-)

You're certainly living the high life Pat.......hope you enjoyed the experiences :-D

A note of lightness this week…….

Celtic prayers and blessings are very popular with many folk……..

You've blessed me with friends
and laughter and fun
With rain that's as soft
as the light from the sun-
You've blessed me with the stars
to brighten each night
You've give me help
to know wrong from right
You've give me so much
please, Lord give me too
A heart that is always
Grateful to you.

I went out on Wednesday to celebrate Rosh Hashanah with an 80 yr old friend. This week we go out on Friday with her to celebrate Yom Kippur :-D

Good morning :-)

Today, for many churches, it will be their annual celebration of Harvest Festival. I am anticipating a packed church and lots of fruit, veg and tins to be sorted ready for distribution tomorrow. We support our local hospice and Foodbank. We thank God for the volunteers who take the food out.

The Collect for today:

Creator God, you make all things and give us the earth and the seasons, the rain, the sun and the wind, makes us thankful people with generous hearts ready to share your goodness and love with all creation. Amen.

The Gospel reading answers the question of ‘What must I do to inherit eternal life?’

Hope all are well.

Good morning :-)

Very best wishes to your brother Vera and we pray for a speedy recovery for him. <3

This prayer is quite fitting for him.....

For the last few days we have been praying for our emergency services……..today we pray for those patients who have been helped by any of these services during the last week.

Dear heavenly Father, we bring before You the many people who have been admit-ted into hospital this week, facing emergency operations or who have been rushed into hospital due to some serious illness or accident. Be with each one we pray and may Your love and peace strengthen and help each one at this traumatic time.

Be with the families and friends of all who are going through the sudden shock of seeing a loved one being rushed into hospital and may they find their strength and support in You.

Comfort each heart and dry each tear we pray and support those that are weak and who are crying out in pain or confusion – and Lord, we pray that in Your grace, You would draw many to discover their hope in You.

Amen

We must indeed be grateful to all those who come to our aid when we are in trouble. It would be a poorer world without them.

Today I am particularly thankful for the skill and compassion of our doctors and nurses as my brother has undergone a major operation. My thoughts tonight are with him and all who are in hospital.

All too often we see vivid pictures of storms at sea and hear about people in danger…..when this happens, the emergency service that is run by volunteers, comes to the rescue…..

Lord, we ask you to protect and bless the crews of the lifeboats who risk their own safety to bring help to others. May they always be seen as a beacon of hope and light to those who find themselves in danger on the sea. Amen.

Our electricity is going off for a couple of hours this morning, so I am hastening about all jobs which need power. :-D

Hello all

We have a lot to be thankful for. We were watching the scenes of devastation from Mexico and also horror scenes caused by Hurricane Maria in the Caribbean islands.
We continue to count our blessings...... there, but for the grace of God, methinks.

Vera we used to have a First Responder as a neighbour until he moved to a different area. Edward would share stories of what was involved. He is a caring man and well suited to this sensitive and committed role, supporting the ambulance services.

Cynthia our village supermarket has the local Air Ambulance as their chosen charity for this year and we agreed that it's a very worthy cause and well worth supporting.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 21 Sep 2017 07:51

Good morning :-)

Thank you for that information Vera....I knew about St. John's Ambulances but the First Responders was new to me. I have googled and read about the good work they do and what a brilliant idea it is. I need to see if they are used in our area.

For today:

Lord, we offer you thanks for all crews onboard air ambulances who give their time, experience and skill to rescue those who have become ill or injured in inaccessible areas, or where speed is needed to get people to hospital.

We thank you for the comfort and reassurance they give to those in distress and for their patience and compassion with the relatives and friends.

Please bless them and their families as they fly to the aid of those in need. Amen.
