Hello all
Peace is desperately needed throughout the world.
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me Let there be peace on earth The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father Brothers all are we Let me walk with my brother In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take Let this be my solemn vow To take each moment and Live each moment in peace eternally, Let there be peace on earth and Let it begin with me.

Good morning :-)
The last week has been very much focused on remembering those who died in conflict. This week our focus turns to something we all pray for……………..peace, in all its forms..
Portrait of Peace Once there was a king who offered to give a prize to an artist who could best paint a depiction of peace. Many artists decided to participate and sent the king their masterpieces.
Among the various masterpieces, one picture was of a calm lake closely resembling peacefully towering snow-capped mountains where a blue sky with fluffy clouds was overheard. The picture was exemplary. Most of those who viewed the paintings of peace from different artists thought that this painting was the best among all others.
But the king had another winner in mind. To the crowd’s surprise, the picture that won was of a mountain too but was more plain and rugged than the other piece. The sky was shady and looked angry because there was lightning. It was exactly the opposite of what peace should look like. The others thought that maybe the artist submitted a wrong painting showing storm rather than peace.
What others didn’t notice was that if you look closely at the painting, there is a tiny bush growing in the cracks of a rock. In the bush, there is a nest built by a mother bird and in the midst of the stormy weather, the bird sits peacefully on her nest.
In that specific portrait, it was depicted that in the presence of all the turmoil, there is still someone who can be calm in his or her heart. Lord, give us peace in our hearts.

The living owe it to those who no longer can speak to tell their story for them.
God, let your peace return to our families, in our churches, and in our world. Make us instruments of your peace wherever we are and whatever we do. Amen.

Hello all
I'm pleased that you're back Cynthia.
At 11am I was in the village library where everyone present observed the traditional 2minutes silence.
In Flanders Field.
In Flanders fields the poppies grow. Between the crosses row on row, that mark our place; and in the sky the lark still bravely singing fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw the torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Written by Lt. Col. John McCrea in 1915.
"Lest We Forget."

Good morning :-)
Apologies for missing.
Almost as long as there has been life, war has been a part of it. Mankind continues to wage war even though the consequences often breed nothing but misery. However, when a person is called to defend his or her country, or protect other defenceless people, it is his duty to fight. There is no question that there is evil in the world and we must not rest on our laurels and say it is none of our business. We cannot stand by and watch while others are being persecuted. It is the duty of mankind to uphold justice. Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
We remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.
Remember those who served before. Remember those who are no more. Remember those who serve today. Remember as we eat and play. Remember our protectors who are not home today. Remember them all on Remembrance Day.

Remembrance week
A week of remembrance.
Remember those who died. Those we loved, the one’s who cried. As I sit here in my room, I picture the banging and the boom. I try to pull myself together as I lie: They gave their lives to keep us free. To save the innocent like you and me. I am thankful for no war, As we wear our poppies in remorse: Let’s work together to keep this country ours And on each Remembrance Day to wear a flower So put on a smile and don’t sigh, Stay together and keep your head held high, If we stand together, no one will break our power.

Today we remember all the women who have been killed during warfare.
YMCA VOLUNTEER BERTHA ‘BETTY’ STEVENSON In April 1917, Betty Stevenson was posted to Etaples as a YMCA driver, responsible for transporting relatives from England to visit the wounded in hospital. Betty was killed by an air raid in 1918 while assisting French refugees. She was given a military funeral and was posthumously awarded the Croix de Guerre avec Palme by General Petain, for courage and devotion to duty.

Hello all
Fallen written by Laurence Binyon.
"They shall not grow old,as we that are left grow old Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning We will remember them."
We will remember them.

And Remembrance Day is approaching once more. That special day when, collectively, we remember those who gave their lives for their country.
"Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." Perhaps one of the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill's most famous speeches was delivered in 1940.
Known as "The Few", Prime Minister Winston Churchill's wartime speech is quite possibly one of the most famous in history, no doubt one of the most well-known of World War II.
Lord, help us.

Good afternoon :-)
*THE WORLD IS MINE*
Today, upon a bus, I saw A lovely girl with golden hair I envied her and wished to be so fair. When suddenly, she rose to go. I saw her hobble down the aisle. She had one leg and used a crutch. But as she passed, she gave a smile. Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two legs; the world is mine.
I stopped to buy some chocolate The lad who sold it had such charm. I stopped and talked, he seemed so sad. If I were late, it would do no harm. And as I left, he said to me, "I thank you, you've been so kind. It's nice to talk with folks like you. You see," he said, "I'm blind." Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two eyes; the world is mine.
Later while walking down the street, I saw a child I knew. He stood and watched the others play, but he did not know what to do. I stopped a moment and then I said, Why don't you join them dear?" He looked ahead without a word. I forgot, he couldn't hear. Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two ears; the world is mine.
With feet to take me where I'd go, With eyes to see the sunset's glow, With ears to hear what I'd know, Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine. (Author Unknown)

I was reading about soul cakes when looking things up kandj <3
ISN’T STRANGE?
It’s strange how £20 seems like such a large amount when you donate to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping.
It’s strange how an hour seems so long when you’re sitting in church, and so short when you’re watching a good film.
It’s strange that you can’t find words to say when you’re praying, but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend.
It’s strange how difficult it is to read one chapter of the Bible, but how easy it is to read a popular novel.
It’s strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts, but they want to sit in the back row at church.
It’s strange how we need to know about an event for church 2 or 3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?
It’s strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God and share it with others, but it’s easy to repeat gossip.
It’s strange how we believe everything that magazines, newspapers, Facebook and the internet say, but we question the words in the Bible.
It's a strange old world at times!

Hello all I remember All Soul's Day and making soul cake with Mum. Christian tradition (so I was told) was the Soul Cake was given to the poor of the parish who knocked at people's doors on All Soul's Day and were handed the cake (more like a shortbread biscuit but scored with a cross) and in return they promised to pray for the souls of the loved ones in the household who had died.
The traditional little rhyme went like this,
A soul cake, a soul cake, Please good Missus a soul cake. An apple a pear a plum or a cherry Any good thing to make us feel merry.
A soul cake, a soul cake, Please good Missus a soul cake. One for Peter, two for Paul and Three for Him, who made us all.
Strange how these words have stayed with me for very many years.

TODAY IS ALL SOULS DAY.
Sometimes, life is so busy that we have little time to pause and remember.
Today is also known as The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed and is a day set aside to remember those “ordinary saints” whose lives and witness deeply touched our own. Maybe our parents, siblings, teachers or friends.
It isn’t a day of mourning, but a day dedicated to remembering those faithful, ordinary lives who built up our own lives and the life of our churches. A day to remember the hope of the resurrection, both theirs and ours and we give thanks for their faithful example.
Does anyone remember someone who was a massive influence in your life? Please share that memory with us.................??

Good morning :-)
I really thought I had posted yesterday.......!! :-S Apologies <3
TODAY IS ALL SAINTS DAY What is a saint? A saint is a person who is believed to be especially close to God. Some saints are prophets or messengers of God. Others are healers, doers of good deeds, or martyrs.
All churches are dedicated to God and the vast majority of the churches in the C of E are dedicated to one or more people.
Most are dedicated to a single 'patron saint', such as Saint Peter or The Virgin Mary, or one of the persons of God, such as Holy Trinity, Christ Church, or The Good Shepherd. Others commemorate Christian events such as the Assumption of Mary or the Ascension of Jesus.
Today we honour all the saints in Christian history, particularly those who do not have their own special feast day.
The Collect (special prayer) for All Saints Day. Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: grant us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living that we may come to those inexpressible joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
