Good morning

I hope you and your OH are having a better day Cynthia. Sending you love

I recently came across the following and thought I would put it here as it may be of help and comfort to Cynthia and others facing difficulties in their lives.

Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will care for you tomorrow and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it.

Be at peace, then. Put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations, and say continually: “The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in Him and I am helped. He is not only with me but in me, and I in Him.”

Hello all

David, it's dry and bright in Yorkshire so far but storm Dennis is forecast for the weekend. Keep safe everyone.

Hoping Cynthia and family are managing as well as they can be. Sending a ((hug)) to her right now.

"Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest."
(Matthew 11 v 28 taken from Good News Bible).

Hello and good morning to you all :-) <3

Stay strong Cynthia.

Interesting to see in NSW especially around Sydney that Australia has had as

much rain in a short time as in the previous 30 years. a blessing.

Cyn .............. I'm sorry to hear that OH is not doing too well.

He's your priority now, but also take care of yourself, and try to get as much rest as you can.

Hello all

Cynthia, I'm agreeing with Vera and Emma and hope your OH will feel better before too long, but please just remember that he is your priority and you also need to take good care of yourself right now.

Thinking of all the people in West Yorkshire who have more devastation in their homes and businesses caused by the storms at the weekend.

Sorry to hear that your OH is not too well Cynthia. It’s wonderful that you keep this thread going but you mustn’t worry about posting. Your priority must be taking care of your husband and also yourself. Thinking of you both <3 <3

Your church always seems to be busy Cynthia. It’s lovely to hear of somewhere that appears to be so welcoming.

My thoughts today are with those who are waiting for the results of medical tests which can be a very frightening time. May they have cause to rejoice, but if their news is not good may they be given strength and inner calm to face whatever lies ahead <3

Good morning :-)

Forgive me if I am a bit erratic this week, but OH isn't too well so I am on alert so to speak.

Yesterday was simply atrocious with the amount of wind and rain - I got to church and spent the entire service standing against a radiator to try and dry myself off! There were leakages all over the place and so the buckets came out! Then we had a couple of interruptions from people who couldn't get out of their drive because of parked cars. Add to this a presentation to two retiring churchwardens, 2 baptisms and congratulations on a 57th wedding anniversary - and it was what you would call a 'busy' morning :-D

We listened to a thought-provoking sermon - about Jesus telling us that 'you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world'.

Salt is used in so many ways – cooking, preserving, cleaning. If you don’t use enough it’s not effective, if you use too much, it can be harmful.

As Christians, there are strong implications for us…..just as salt makes a difference, so should we. It means that we are to ‘season’ the events in everyday life in a way that it reveals God. Speaking a kind word, being generous with our compassion, time and money to help those in need. Rebuilding relationships, calming arguments, helping those who hurt.

But as with salt, too much is harmful – we should not push our faith down people’s throats but be gentle with it.

Lord, help me to be a ‘salty’ Christian in the world. Amen.

Good morning :-)

Thank you for the comments......the music sequence was just like that special scene in Sister Act.....loved that film :-D

The Collect (special prayer) for today ….

Eternal Father, whose Son Jesus Christ ascended
to the throne of heaven. that he might rule over all things as Lord and King:
keep the Church in the unity of the Spirit. and in the bond of peace,
and bring the whole created order to worship at his feet;
who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.

The Gospel reading is taken from the Sermon on the Mount.......where Jesus refers to us as salt and light in the world.

Bless this house reminds me that my parents had a rectangular brass plaque with this verse on it. It hung on the chimney breast on 'Dad's' side of the fireplace.

Thank you Cynthia for your posts with deep meaning and also those about everyday life.
I hope you can obtain all the help you need to help with your husband.

Thinking of you.
