Good morning Cynthia and Emma and others :-D <3 <3

I have for you the Papal Conclave of 115 Cardinals that voted in secret behind

locked sealed doors, after all of the 155 Cardinals individually swearing an oath

before the altar, before the remainder of those present out (Extra Ominus)

Benedict XV1's successor then being a Cardinal.

Good morning :-)

My word, I never know what the subject is going to be when I come on here....keeps me on my toes though! :-D

Thoughts and prayers for those who are affected by the collapse of the Thomas Cook company - especially those who have lost their jobs. :-(

Always ready for quirky facts…….yesterday marked the anniversary in 1735 of Number 10 Downing Street becoming the residence for British Prime Ministers. You really wanted to know that didn’t you?

God our Father,
we pray for all who are in positions of leadership in our country, that they may be inspired by the values of the Gospel.
We pray that they may live as people of integrity and honesty, growing in a sense of duty and responsibility, always being aware of the needy, and ready to be of service to others. Amen.

Good morning :-)

You can find out some interesting things on dear old Google. For instance, I saw that today is the Feast day of Our Lady of Walsingham. I have heard about the Anglican Shrine at Walsingham, but have never visited…..so I googled. Here is the link for anyone who is interested. I found it very calming and informative.

https://www.walsinghamanglican.org.uk/

My Lord God,
I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end....
Nor do I really know myself,
and the fact that I think I am following your will
does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you,
does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this,
You will lead me by the right road, though
I may know nothing about it.
Therefore, will I trust you always though
I may seem lost in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me,
and you will never leave me to face my perils alone

Saw this on FB this morning and thought about the
problems that children are having to deal with in these times.

Mary had a little lamb.

Mary had a little lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school each day,
Twasn't even in the rules.
He made the children laugh and play,
To have a lamb at school.
And then the rules all changed one day,
Illegal it became;
To bring the Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak his Name.
Everyday got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh,
We heard gun shots and tears.
What must we do to stop the crime,
That's in our schools today?
Let's let the lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray! <3

Hello all

I have visited the Anglican and also the Catholic Shine (with my Catholic friends) in Walsingham and loved the spirituality of both places. Thanks for the link Cynthia.

Emma, these words aren't good to read, a real concern for all our young ones today.

Thinking today of all the people who are affected by the Thomas Cooke travel chaos.

Good morning :-)

It's been a while since I saw that poem Emma - and how true it is. Thanks.

Glad you enjoyed the link kandj - I guess it brought back lots of happy memories.

So sad about the Thomas Cook scenario and the devastation it is causing in people's lives. :-(

So much turmoil at Westminster......so much instability across the world, and yet so much to still be thankful for.

MORNING PRAYER:
Lord, let me feel your hope
Rising with the dawn.
Let me hear your love
Dancing through the birdsong.
Let me see your promises
held in the beauty of creation.
Lord, as I greet this new day
I turn my face to yours
in thanks and praise.
Amen

Hello all

The Walsingham link did indeed bring back many lovely memories Cynthia. Thank you

Where is Vera? I hope all is well with her and her OH/family today.

Emma, is that Connie on your Avatar, she is a beautiful smiley little baby.

David, it remains to be seen what will happen to our PM and USA President, but they are both causing great concerns for us all.

Heavenly Father, we pray for all world leaders, that they might make just decisions and use their power wisely, so that everyone may receive a fair deal and that peace may prevail in the world. Amen.

As for the two leaders mentioned by David - methinks they both need a lesson in truth and honesty.

Lord God,
keep in me a sense of humour and the ability to laugh at myself. Lead me always to be positive, looking for the best in people and in situations. Each day and in every way may I grow in the love of the Father and the presence of the Son, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Hello good morning :-D <3 Yesterday evening those political partys in

opposition to the Conservatives had the opportunity to call for a general

election, they did not. And in the US the antipathy toward President Trump

will not guarantee his impeachment, he may even get a second term.

Good evening all

Connie looks a little ray of sunshine Emma. It’s a joy to see that happy smile after all her problems.

Thank you for enquiring about me Kandj. We have been to Jersey for a few days with a group of friends and though I haven’t posted I have managed to look in every day. I feel very blessed that OH has made such an amazing recovery that we were able to get out and about and enjoy the break.

On Jersey we visited a little church known as the Glass Church. Jesse Boot, founder of Boots the Chemist, married a girl from Jersey and had a home there. This was his local church. When he died his widow asked Rene Lalique, who was a friend, to refurbish the church in Mr Boot’s memory. Much of the interior of this church, including the altar and font, panelling and ornamentation, is in Lalique glass. It is certainly different.

We also looked into a Catholic church as we were passing by and that was also an unexpected treasure with some beautiful stained glass. We are so lucky to have these lovely places of worship.

For us it has been a very happy few days and so tonight my thoughts are with those who are not so fortunate and who do not have the means or opportunity to lead such a blessed and happy life.

EDIT. I forgot to mention that I have also been to the shrine at Walsingham. I was surprised to find the Russian Orthodox Church in the village there.

Good morning :-)

Baby Connie is just beautiful... <3 A church made of glass? Certainly that is different Vera and something to google in a minute. Imagine trying to keep it clean...avoid damage.....arrghhh. Then think of the sunrays shining through. It must be beautiful in sunlight. So pleased you have managed to have a few days break and that hubby was well enough to enjoy it.

In these turbulent political times.....something to remember...

God is above you - to bless you,
below you - to support you,
before you - to guide you,
behind you - to protect you,
beside you - to comfort you and
within you - to sustain you.

Thank you for those words Cynthia.

As you say, these are turbulent and disturbing times but kindness and charity can still be found. Our local paper has reported that more than a dozen local businesses have offered free or discounted goods and services to the former staff of our branch of Thomas Cook and others have offered to help them find alternative employment. I find it encouraging that people in the community still care when others have problems :-)

Hi everyone

so pleasing to hear that everyone is doing well, and recovering from illnesses.

We've been away for a few days ................ travelling by train to Jasper and then another train to visit a niece who now lives in the the house that her parents built in the 1970s, having done massive renovations over the last 5 years thus almost completely changing it from "parents' house" to "their own house". Her mother was OH's sister who died 5½ years ago.

It was a very pleasant trip, and most restful because we didn't see the TV news or read a newspaper for 10 days ;-) . Such a rest from the British and US antics, and our own Federal election.

Having read through the last few pages, I would like to make the following comments, if I may.

1. Not much was actually written down during the time of Jesus ............ at least not that has been found and translated. Much of what was passed on was verbally, by story telling, as so few people could actually read. And that continued for several centuries until the ordinary person was able to read the Bible in their own language. So I personally think we have to be very careful in believing that all the stories are completely accurate.

EDIT:- I do not mean by this that it was deliberate, but something might be made simpler so that a completely uneducated person could understand .......... eg, the time line in which God made the world.

2. As a sort of indication of that, we have a Botanist friend who is a very strong Baptist. His "hobby" is to go to Israel and find the places mentioned in the Bible. He goes to the place that is now called a Biblical site, stands there, looks around, and sees if the general area fits the description as given in the Bible.

How many of you would be surprised to hear that many of the sites visited today as a place where Jesus spoke, or performed a miracle are actually NOT that place at all.

That is not to say that the places do not exist .............. but that the knowledge passed down has been corrupted slightly over time.

As an example of how our friend discovers this ............... there will be a site from which Jesus could see a hill straight ahead and another to the right, or a lake to the left. He goes to the place identified as that site ............. but he cannot see any of the other geographical features from it.

However, there will be a similar site a short distance away ............... half-a-mile, or a mile. When he goes to that place, and looks around, he can indeed see all the features mentioned in the Bible.

He wrote a book back in 2004 .............. Arise, Walk Through the Land, by Roy Turkington.

I see that it is available on Amazon for around $52.

This gives a synopsis of how he did what he did, and the problems they got into!

Good evening <3 Concerning the mystery that surrounds The Great Pyramid of Giza.

A part from the Kings and the Queens chambers are several skill-fully constructed

rooms detected by camera on robots. Far below the Pyramid is a lake of

clear water containing a sarcophagus. The narrator of the video says the Pyramid

was constructed by Enoch, Father of Methusela long before the Deluge.

David .............

what have you been watching now??

All the evidence is that the Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed between about 2580 to 2560 BC (using the old term for Before Christ). Another term used is that ALL the complex at Giza, including the Great Pyramid, was built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The Pharoah who was alive at that time was Khufu (also called Cheops).

Methusaleh had nothing to do with it ................... unless you wish to contradict all the scientific evidence and opinions of very well qualified Egyptologists!

The easiest place to read all anout the Giza complex is to go to Wikipedia, then to various other more scientific papers and books.
