Good morning :-)

Thank you for that recommendation Elizabeth - lovely to see you.

So sorry to hear about the death of your friend Emma <3 I remember that last year, I had been to about 4 funerals before the end of March and could have gone to more. I think it's very much a case of 'In the midst of life we are in death'.

For today :

In the bible reading from today’s page in the Lent study book, we hear the story of how Jesus healed a man who was deaf.

Throughout the bible we read of Jesus making a difference to people’s lives. He treated each person as an individual.

God cares for each of us individually and wants to meet our deepest needs

Heavenly Father, I am so glad that you know me and love me anyway. Help me to accept other people and to show them what Jesus is like. Amen.

Hello all

Not read back just popping in hoping everyone has survived the cold weather.

I have had a sickky bug since last Tuesday. No idea where it came from but it's not nice at all. I feel drained with no energy and have weak and wobbly legs. I could well have done without it and I miss lovely hubby so much even though he wouldn't have been able to do anything , he would have spoken kindly and given me a cuddle.

Thinking of all who are alone and feeling unwell today. xxx

Poor kandj, sorry that you are not feeling well - hope it soon passes and that you recover quickly. <3

For all those who are going through anxious times at the moment.

Do not be anxious, said our Lord.
Have peace from day to day -
The lilies neither toil nor spin,
Yet none are clothed as they.
The meadowlark with sweetest song
Fears not for bread or nest
Because he trusts our Father's love
And God knows what is best.

To Be Free From Worry

Father, I'm praying that my circle of family and friends will be free from worry...

Help them not worry when things don't go the way they expect. Jesus said we're not to fret, not to worry, not to let our hearts be troubled or afraid. He said we're to trust in You— and also in Him. May it be so in their lives and ministry, no matter how impossible things seem. (John 14:1, 27b)

Good morning :-)

Father, I'm praying that my circle of family and friends will be free from worry...

Keep them from worrying about tomorrow, for each day has enough trouble of its own. When such trouble comes, help them to cast all their anxiety on Christ because He cares for them. (Matthew 6:34; 1 Peter 5:7)

Love to all Cx :-)

Good to see you kandj, do please keep in touch with us. <3

For today :

Father, I'm praying that my circle of family and friends will be free from worry...

Help them not to be anxious about anything but to pray about everything with thanksgiving—for when they do, You'll give them Your peace that surpasses their understanding, and such peace guards their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6–7)

Good morning :-)

For today :

Father, we are praying for our family and friends who are anxious over many things.

Keep their minds steadfast in trusting You, and give them Your perfect peace. May they turn to the Lord of Peace who will give them peace at all times, in every way. (Isaiah 26:3; 2 Thessalonians 3:16)

Help them leave every worry at Your feet where it belongs.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today is Mothering Sunday - the day when we remember our mothers or, maybe, those who have mothered us. Included in this thinking is 'Mother church', the place where so many find comfort and peace.

A prayer for Mother's Day:
Thank you God that you love each one of us.
Thank you for homes and help those who don't feel safe today.
Thank you God for all the people who work to take care of us every day.
Keep us close to your love each day.
Amen.

Hello all

Amen to your prayer for today Cynthia.

I have just waved our daughter H and granddaughter K off back to Durham. We have had a special girly weekend together. I feel blessed to be loved and supported by our family. Of course we all missed Hubby/Dad/Grandpa this weekend but shared hugs.

Thinking of all who feel upset or sad this Mothering Sunday.... ((hugs)) to all in need.

Lovely to see you kandj and I'm so glad you have had such a special time with your daughter and granddaughter. It will have done you all good hopefully. <3

A prayer for hope.

Almighty God,
You reach into the darkness with hope, truth and light.
Stretch out your strong hand in this situation, hold and rescue those who have suffered.
Let your almighty love move mountains, cross seas and breathe life into the darkest places.
Light that redeems.
Light that restores.
Light that heals.
Light that protects.
Light that saves.
There is nothing higher, stronger or greater than your love.
We trust in you. Amen.

Good morning :-)

We rarely get family visitors, apart from our children, as our families mostly living down south. However, yesterday, we had a visit from OH's brother and wife which was nice and we caught up on various things.

For today:

Whilst many folk have moved away from the Book of Common Prayer onto more modern forms of worship, there are still some beautiful passages to be found within the pages of that service book……take a look at this for hope….

God Is Our Hope

God is our hope and strength,
a very present help in trouble.

Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be moved,
and though the hills be carried into the midst of the sea;

Though the waters thereof rage and swell,
and though the mountains shake at the tempest of the same.

There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God,
the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

-- Book of Common Prayer 1979

Good evening all

I haven’t posted for a couple of weeks as OH and I were both struck down with the dreaded flu and are only just beginning to rejoin the human race. Even now OH is spending most of the day just sitting in a chair and I have to rest for an hour between each little job. We are both exhausted but I am trying not to complain. There are so many people who are unwell and we are very fortunate that we can afford to stay warm and comfortable. My thoughts are with those who are not so lucky.

I am glad that you were able to spend time with your daughter and granddaughter Kandj. It is good that you can support and comfort each other.

Thank you Cynthia and others for your posts. I do read even when I don’t respond

Poor Vera and OH - it sounds as though you have had a pretty miserable couple of weeks :-( Hopefully, you are now both on the mend and feeling better. Take it easy. <3

For today:

Hope
Hope that's a certainty
Hope steadfast and sure
Hope for eternity
Hope that will endure

Hope for the hopeless
Hope for the lost
Hope that is ageless
Hope from the cross.

Hope full of joy
Hope full of peace
Hope to enjoy
Hope that won't cease

Hope that is true
Hope that's everlasting
Hope for me and you
all others surpassing

Hope so incredible
Hope in the Spirit
Hope indestructible
Through God we inherit.
