Good morning :-)
I had to do a 'double take' when I saw kandj's name bless her. How lovely of her to pop in when she has so much on her hands at the moment. We continue to pray for both her and her husband as the battle through each day....... <3
A thought for today....
DEFINITION
A Christian is:
A mind through which Christ thinks.
A heart through which Christ loves.
A voice through which Christ speaks.
A hand through which Christ helps.
Something to bear in mind as we go about our daily lives.
Love to all Cx :-)

It was so good to open up this morning and see that you had posted Kandj. I am so sorry that things are still not too good for your OH and hope that things will start to pick up very soon. Stay strong and remember to take care of yourself as well.
You are ever in my thoughts <3

Today's thought for the day........
The best gifts to give:
To your friend, loyalty; To your enemy, forgiveness; To your boss, service; To a child, a good example; To your parents, gratitude and devotion; To your mate, love and faithfulness; To all men and women, charity; and To God, your life.
Love to all Cx :-)

Good morning :-)
God's love is always considered as all-embracing David - a wonderful thought.
For today:
Lord, I ask that this day you would give me the opportunities to speak of you and when they come you would give me your words to say. Amen.
I love the quote from St. Francis....."Preach the gospel at all times - if necessary, use words. :-)

Good morning :-)
I am now working hard to scan and print pictures for my OH's upcoming 80th birthday - (he married a child bride remember) - we can't do much but I want to make it special for him.
The Collect (special prayer) for the fourth Sunday before Advent..
Almighty and eternal God, you have kindled the flame of love in the hearts of the saints: Grant to us the same faith and power of love, that, as we rejoice in their triumphs, we may be sustained by their example and fellowship; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen Amen.
The gospel tells the story of Zacchaeus the tax collector, who climbed a tree in order to see Jesus.

All Hallows' Eve - Halloween - the day when Christians remember the faithful departed.
A Prayer For Halloween
Father We thank you for your many blessings, in particular for all the holy men and women we celebrate on All Saints Day. Help us to contemplate their holiness on this eve of that holiday. And may your protection be upon all those involved in Halloween festivities during this night. We pray in Jesus name. Amen.

(From ‘The Times’ a few days ago.) For the first time in nearly 500 years, scientists have opened the tomb in which Jesus’s body was thought to have been laid after his crucifixion.
Builders closed the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem on Wednesday evening and lifted the marble slab covering the tomb, which had been in place since 1555.
By Thursday evening they had unearthed a second piece of marble, etched with a cross, probably dating back to the 12th century.
Beneath that, they believe, is the rock on which Jesus was placed after his death. Nothing of Jesus’s remains or materials are believed to be in the tomb‘.
(One frustrated reader’s letter in today’s edition added: “Surely it would have been more accurate to say: ‘It is believed by Christians that no remains of Jesus exist - and certainly not in the tomb’.)

Good morning :-)
Had a lovely day with our grandson yesterday. He came over to paint the garage door and clean the car for us bless him. He did an amazing job and it was a pleasure to feed and water him too :-D
All Souls Day is a time when we particularly remember those who have died. The prayers appointed for that day remind us that we are joined with the Communion of Saints, that great group of Christians who have finished their earthly life and with who we share the hope of resurrection from the dead.
Merciful Father, hear our prayer and console us. As we renew our faith in Your Son, whom You raised from the dead, strengthen our hope that all our departed brothers and sisters will share in His resurrection, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
Love to all Cx :-)

I had 'one of those days' yesterday.........so I am hoping that today is more settled...sigh.
Having thought about the dear departed over the last few days, I thought this hymn fitted in well with the sentiments and cheer our souls
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuyf1YQvcwY
1.Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of his Spirit, washed in his blood. Refrain: This is my story, this is my song, praising my Saviour all the day long; this is my story, this is my song, praising my Saviour all the day long.
2. Perfect submission, perfect delight, visions of rapture now burst on my sight; angels descending bring from above echoes of mercy, whispers of love. (Refrain)
3. Perfect submission, all is at rest; I in my Saviour am happy and blest, watching and waiting, looking above, filled with his goodness, lost in his love. (Refrain)

I hope you have a better day today Cynthia.
I have had the hymn Shine, Jesus, Shine going round and round my brain for the last two days. I don't know why, I am not aware of hearing it sung, or even mentioned, recently. It is one of the more modern hymns that I like but not non-stop for two days!
Thinking of Kandj and her OH and all in need of strength and support right now.

Lord, here I am. It’s another day – Friday. For some people it’s the end of their working week. The weekend break is ahead. Time, maybe, for the family, the garden, sport, odd jobs. So today Lord, I pray for families, For parents and children. I ask your blessing and peace To be with every family. Hold them together with a great love for each other. Amen

Good morning :-)
Travelling back from lunches at church yesterday, we saw a beautiful rainbow.......and when I see a rainbow I am always reminded of the children's hymn.....sung to the tune of Clementine...
God almighty set a rainbow arching in the sky above, and his people understand it as a signal of his love.
Chorus : Thank you, Father, thank you, Father, thank you, Father, for your care, for your warm and loving kindness to your people ev’rywhere.
Clouds will gather, storm come streaming on the darkened earth below – too much sunshine makes a desert, without rain no seed can grow. Chorus:
Through the stormcloud shines your rainbow, through the dark earth springs the wheat. In the future waits your harvest and the food for all to eat. Chorus:
God almighty, you have promised after rain the sun will show; bless the seeds and bless the harvest. Give us grace to help us grow.
Love to all Cx :-)

The Collect (special prayer) for today :
Almighty Father, whose will is to restore all things in your beloved Son, the King of all: govern the hearts and minds of those in authority, and bring the families of the nations, divided and torn apart by the ravages of sin, to be subject to his just and gentle rule; who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
The Gospel is taken from Luke and tells Jesus’ story of resurrection and re-marriage.

During this coming week, leading up to Remembrance Sunday, we will be looking at poems, quotes and stories connected to that special day..
Poppy Poppy
Poppy, Poppy, what do you say? Wear me on Remembrance Day. Poppy, Poppy, what do you tell? Many soldiers in battle fell. Poppy, Poppy, what should we know? That peace on earth should grow, grow, grow.

I am not happy with the weather forecast that we may be getting some of the dreaded white stuff....... :-(
Had a lovely visit from an old friend yesterday so we caught up on the latest news :-D
Continuing to look at various aspects of war this remembrance week.....
Children were encouraged to play their part during WW1. The Boy Scouts' Association was one of the first youth organisations to provide practical assistance to the British war effort. They were put to guarding railway bridges and tracks in Britain. Scouts also guarded telephone and telegraph lines, railway stations, water reservoirs or any location that might be militarily important. From late 1917 many Scouts assisted with air raid duties, including sounding the all-clear signal after an attack. Some Scouts were even trained in fire fighting. The Scout movement's hand-book, published before the war broke out, instructed all Scouts to 'be prepared…to die for your country if need be'.
