Hello All
My get up and go has got up and gone today and so everything has taken twice as long as it normally would and a lot of effort needed.... hey ho... tomorrow is another day and hopefully will be a whole lot better.
Cynthia, it's good to read that your husband's recent flare-up has improved and fingers crossed that you both might be able to join in worship at church tomorrow.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Isaiah 40 v 29 (NIV)

Good morning :-)
Hope your get up and go returns soon kandj......you must get so exhausted at times bless you. <3
Four infants for baptism today.........we pray that God will bless them as they begin their Christian journey.
The Collect for today:
Merciful God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as pass our understanding: pour into our hearts such love toward you that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Praying for all those who are to be baptised today - wherever they may be.

If you are in touch with her again, please would you pass on our love and get well wishes. Hope we will see her back on GR very soon. Hope that everything is alright with you and your family.
Thank you again.
Take care.
Love and best wishes.

Hello All
Thank you for your kind words. I'm still feeling tired but its nothing that a week's holiday won't cure (in my dreams ha ha). I'm still hanging on to my sense of humour though. Our family visited yesterday so I got to be waited on for a change. We all enjoyed relaxing together and catching up with news face to face instead of Skype or text or phone calls. You can't easily give hugs with these methods of communication.
Cynthia I hope everyone in church will be comfortable with the baptism of the little ones today. It is a special family time to get together for a happy family celebration.
"Blood makes you related but love and loyalty make you a family"
Having somewhere to go is HOME Having someone to love is FAMILY Having both is a real BLESSING.
Thinking today of all babies and children who are ill in hospital needing treatment.xx
EDIT: Reading Sallie's comments then obviously Sylvia isn't very well right now. I hope that Sylvia will feel better before long. Sending her love and prayers xx

Good morning :-)
Yes, I have been in touch with Sylvia in Canada and she has been poorly, the cause of which seems to have been a mosquito bite and her reaction to the antibiotics etc. Hopefully, she is now on the way to a full recovery.
Family are indeed a blessing - most times :-D
With this in mind, I thought a little humour might be in order :-D
Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray my sanity to keep. For if some peace I do not find, I'm pretty sure I'll lose my mind.
I pray I find a little quiet, Far from the daily family riot. May I lie back and not have to think About what they're stuffing down the sink,
Or who they're with, or where they're at And what they're doing to the cat. I pray for time all to myself (did something just fall off a shelf?)
To cuddle in my nice, soft bed (Oh no, another goldfish--dead!) Some silent moments for goodness sake (Did I just hear a window break?)
And that I need not cook or clean (well heck, I've got the right to dream) Yes now I lay me down to sleep, I pray my wits about me keep,
But as I look around I know, I must have lost them long ago! I ask you Lord, to keep me young and thank you now for all you've done.
Cx :-)

Thank you Cynthia. That poem rings very true and made me smile. There were times when the family were young when I threatened to change my name so I didn't have to respond to endless calls of "Mum...."
Thinking today of all who are alone in the world and don't have the blessing of family.

Hello All
Cynthia, I also had a little laugh at your post today. Family life can be hectic and feel like it goes on forever, then the years go by and children move out and life changes. Our family visit us as often as school and work commitments allow. It's good to share hugs and laughs together. When they all go back home, then our bungalow seems rather quiet once again......... until next time.
"Laughter not only makes the journey endurable and even more enjoyable' it also helps keep us healthy. Become like a child and learn to laugh more". {Joyce Meyer}
Hope that Sylvia continues to improve each day. xx

Another grey morning here today..........at least we get a variety of weather! :-D
A Celtic prayer for today:
In my waking and arising be the first thought that enters my head In my eating and drinking be the first thought that enters my head In my walking and journeying be the first thought that enters my head In my working and serving be the first thought that enters my head In my sowing and harvesting be the first thought that enters my head In my rejoicing and sorrowing be the first thought that enters my head In my resting and sleeping be the first thought that enters my head.

Hello All
Sunshine and showers here today. A mixture and typical of our English Summer!
Thank you for the Gaelic prayer Cynthia. The one that springs to mind was always said by a previous Vicar at the end of all our services.
May the road rise up to meet you May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again May God hold you in the palm if His hand.
I love the simplicity of all Gaelic prayers. This one is new to me but worth sharing.
May you have - Walls for the wind and a roof for the rain, and drinks beside the fire. Laughter to cheer you, and those you love near you and all that your heart might desire.
Gentle hugs for all who are feeling weary and stressed today. xx

Good morning :-)
I like Gaelic prayers very much - especially those with a touch of humour.. :-D
For today:
Look on the Sunny Side
There are always two sides, the good and the bad,
The dark and the light, the sad and the glad--
But in looking back over the good and the bad
We're aware of the number of good things we've had--
And in counting our blessings we find when we're through
We've no reason at all to complain or be blue--
So thank God for good things He has already done,
And be grateful to Him for the battles you've won,
And know that the same God who helped you before
Is ready and willing to help you once more--
Then with faith in your heart reach out for God's Hand
And accept what He sends, though you can't understand--
For our Father in heaven always knows what is best,
And if you trust in His wisdom your life will be blest,
For always remember that whatever betide you,
You are never alone for God is beside you.
- Helen Steiner Rice

Hello All
Today is St Swithun day. St Swithun is best known for a weather rhyme.
St Swithun's day if thou dost rain For forty days it will remain. St Swithun's day if thou be fair For forty days twill rain nae mare.
Today here it has been fair........ hope it remains so for 40 days!

A flying visit as we have an appointment with the dentist this morning - not entirely sure OH will make it, but we will try.
For today:
Christ, our all in all, into your presence we come, Lord; a few moments of quietness, closeness in a busy world that demands our attention. Breathe on us now, that we might know your power to see this day though.
Amen.

Hello All
Our dental check ups were last month. They seem to go up in price each time, but we do have a patient Dentist and pleasant helpful staff which is always a blessing.
Our neighbour is in hospital having a second hip operation today. He was very anxious as was his wife and family.
A prayer for all in pain today.
Heavenly Father We pray for those in hospital and undergoing surgery today Surround the frightened with your tenderness Give strength to those in pain Hold the weak in Your loving arms Give compassion and patience to all Doctors and Nurses We ask this in Your names' sake. Amen
A gentle hug for all who are distressed for whatever reason today. xxx

OPEN my eyes to see You in everything. OPEN my ears to hear You speaking to me through other people. OPEN my heart to care for other people. OPEN my mind that I may know what You want me to do. OPEN my will that I make good choices. AMEN. Count Me In.

Good Morning All.
Amen to your prayer Cynthia.
Our granddaughter returned home last night from a school trip abroad. Our family were naturally anxious for K and everyone flying out of the country, but she was soooo excited (only 14yrs old) and we couldn't let her see our worries for her safety. All is good now and she is at school for the last day of term, then Summer to come.
I have been reminded of the Tunisia horror and holiday makers all excited to be flying and looking forward to a happy relaxing time, and how different it all ended.
So I pray now for all those families who have lost loved ones due to violence, and for those forced to live now with physical injuries and mental problems daily. xx

Good morning :-)
It's such a pity that people's holidays are now overshadowed by the dark threat of possible terrorism. At a time when folk should be eagerly anticipating a break from their routine, many are now anxious about their safety. :-(
A Summer blessing
Lord God
May you walk with God this summer in whatever you do and wherever you go. May you talk to God this summer and every day and in every situation. May you talk with God every day.

Hello All
I fully agree with your concerns Cynthia. Our world is changing, and sadly not always for the better.
Schools ended yesterday and so many families head off this weekend for a well earned holiday. The roads will be extra busy and so my prayer today is for travelling mercies of everyone full of happy excitement going on their journey.
Heavenly Father Look down on all who are travelling this weekend, whether by car, coach, rail, sea or air. Surround them all with Your loving care. Protect them from every danger and bring them safely home refreshed and relaxed once more. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Good morning :-)
I certainly hope the weather improves for those who are going on holiday....it was so grey and wet here this morning - but it looks as though the sun is about to come through soon thank goodness.
The Collect for today:
Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: graft in our hearts the love of your name, increase in us true religion, nourish us with all goodness, and of your great mercy keep us in the same; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Thinking of those who would love to get to church today but, for whatever reason, are unable to attend.
