Good morning :-)
Life is a bit hectic here at the moment. The wet room is in progress and it is planned that one workman comes at a time to do their particular bit. Yesterday, both the plumber and the electrician turned up and our water and electricity was coming and going all day.......very confusing... :-D
There are going to be a few more days of this upheaval and I am doing my best to keep things as calm and tidy as possible.... 'tis hard work though.
Speaking of the Wesley's, I remember visiting someone several years ago and admiring a tiny wooden chair. I was interested to learn that it had belonged to the Wesley's at the beginning - I can't remember whether it was John or Charles it had been made for -but it was very nice.
For today:
Lord, help me live from day to day In such a self-forgetful way, That even when I kneel to pray, My prayer shall be for “Others”.
Help me in all the work I do To ever be sincere and true, And know, that all I do for You Must needs be done for “Others”.
And when my work on earth is done, And my new work in Heavens begun May I forget the crown I’ve won, While thinking still of “Others”.
“Others.” Lord, yes, “Others!” Let this my motto be. Help me to live for others That I may live for Thee.
Remembering those in need of prayer.... Cx :-)

Cynthia, keep your cool, the upheaval will be well worth it in the long run. Your husband will gain his independence and life will surely be much less stressful for you.
I have just come across a rather appropriate quote by Deepak Chopra:- "All great changes are preceded by chaos" !!!
Joining with Emma's prayers and praying now for God's healing powers upon those who are ill this night. xxx

Good morning :-)
Thank you for your words of encouragement kandj - I will try and remember them as I listen to the pounding of feet on the stairs and the hammering coming from the bathroom.....not to mention gingerly skirting the boxes and bags stacked on the landing. :-D Yes, it will all be worth it............ <3
For today:
A Christian must carry something heavier on his shoulders than chips.
Genuine faith is assuring, insuring and enduring.
When God measures a man, he puts the tape around the heart.
The truth is one thing for which there are no known substitutes.
Charity begins anywhere and should have no end.
God makes a promise. Faith believes it. Hope anticipates it. Patience quietly awaits it.
A wise man will desire no more than he can get honestly, use wisely, and leave cheerfully.
Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
Confess your sins, not your neighbour's.
The best way to stand up before the world is to kneel down before God.
Confessing your sins is no substitute for forsaking them.
Learn to enjoy little things -- there are so many of them.
No man has a right to do as he pleases, except when he pleases to do right.
Love to all Cx :-)

Hello All
Please don't go falling over any boxes Cynthia, that would never do! Loving all your little snippets, they are so very true
Tomorrow my church is joining other local churches in a PrayerWalk. I have done this several times in the past and felt good to walk as a witness for our Christian faith along with other like minded people.
Sadly, I'm not able to go along tomorrow but I will be with each and every one in spirit. It is an amazing experience to come out and be counted in public instead of inside a church building on a Sunday morning.
The words of this hymn seems fitting to share just now.
One More Step Along The Road I Go.
One more step along the road I go One more step along the road I go from the old things to the new keep me travelling along with you. And it's from the old I travel to the new Keep me travelling along with you.
Round the corner of the world I turn More and more about the world I learn All the new things that I see You'll be looking at along with me.
As I travel through the bad and good Keep me travelling the way I should. As I see no way to go You'll be telling me the way, I know.
Give me courage when the world is rough Keep me loving when the road is tough Leap and sing in all I do Keep me travelling along with you.
You are older than the world can be You are younger than the life in me Ever old and ever new Keep me travelling along with You. And it's from the old I travel to the new Keep me travelling along with You.
I pray for all who will join tomorrow in the Prayer Walk that they may be encouraged and strengthened by one another to walk as a witness to the glory of Your holy name. Amen

Good morning :-) I love the idea of the prayer walk and I do hope the sun shines on them as they witness for our Lord.
The workmen kindly covered the stairs and hallway with a protective film which sticks to the carpet. Yesterday, I found myself mopping this film to remove the plaster dust :-)
The Collect for today :
O God, the strength of all those who put their trust in you, mercifully accept our prayers and, because through the weakness of our mortal nature we can do no good thing without you, grant us the help of your grace, that in the keeping of your commandments we may please you both in will and deed; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Hello All The Prayer Walk from 3 local churches is sure to have been an amazing sight to witness and a privilege for all taking part today. Good weather was God's blessing.
Today we have had our family here visiting and we all have had a happy, relaxed time together. They are safely back home again and the traffic wasn't bad tonight.
We feel blessed to be a part of a loving close family relationship, when so many aren't. We are not close in distance but we are close in our love and support, always
You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. (Desmond Tutu).
Family is not an important thing. It is everything. (Michael J Fox)
Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. (David Ogden Stiers)
In every conceivable manner, family is the link to our past, the bridge to our future. (Alex Haley).
The bond that links a true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each others life. (Richard Bach).
The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than wealth and privilege. (Charles Kuralt).
Lord. wrap Your arms around my family and draw us ever closer to You. Amen.
Remembering those families who have fallen out and are hurting right now. Ease their suffering and disress Lord, and let them know Your love today. Amen.

Good morning :-)
I'm sure the walk was a wonderful sight kandj - there was a local walk of witness near us yesterday too. It's lovely when the sun shines on such events.
Our parish walk of witness is next week - I will be keeping an eye on the weather nearer the time. Unfortunately, my husband won't be able to walk this year - after so many years of being part of these processions :( Never mind, I hope to walk and take photos of the happy event.
I think that the words left by kandj are helpful for today.
Love to all Cx :-)

Cynthia, I do hope that you manage to join in the walk and take photographs which your husband will enjoy looking at so he can feel a part of this very special event
A prayer today for all gardeners. I have always enjoyed gardening but my weeds are winning the battle once again this year! However, the few flowers and new growth is a miracle to see. I am blessed to have a small space to sit quietly with my thoughts.
My garden is where my prayers are planted and my dreams are born!
THANK YOU God for sun and showers THANK YOU for each lovely flower THANK YOU for each stately tree Through all these, You speak to me. Amen.
Continuing to uphold those in need of prayer today. xxx

Good morning.... :-)
To join in with thanking God for the beauty of the earth, the other day I was hanging washing out and, above me, soaring high into the bright blue sky, a skylark was singing it's heart out. So beautiful....................
Today is the Feast of St. Columba. This is a special day for those who visit Iona on a pilgrimage or holiday or to stay with the Community which is based there.
"St Columba is a key figure in the story of the island – and of Christianity in Scotland.
Born in Ireland in AD 521, he came to Iona in 563 and founded the island’s first monastery. He also travelled to the mainland, meeting at least one Pictish king. We cannot be sure how much he contributed to the spread of Christianity, but he was an important influence on the early church in what is now Scotland."
A prayer attributed to St. Columba
Be a bright flame before me, O God
a guiding star above me.
Be a smooth path below me,
a kindly shepherd behind me
today, tonight, and for ever.
Alone with none but you, my God
I journey on my way;
what need I fear when you are near,
O Lord of night and day?
More secure am I within your hand
than if a multitude did round me stand.
Amen.
Remembering our friends in prayer. Cx :-)

I agree Emma, very many Christians head for Iona for pilgrimage and solace.
I know of a very pretty blonde haired young girl (lives in the next street) who is called Iona. Such an unusual name but it's special just like she is.
Thank you Cynthia for the information on St.Columba. All very interesting. Where would our Christian faith be today without the Saints of bygone days?
This bright new day 24 hours of opportunities, choices and attitudes. This unique gift, this one day cannot be exchanged, refunded or replaced. Handle with care. Make the most of it. The Lord has blessed us all with a beautiful TUESDAY.... give thanks and enjoy it!
Thinking of those who feel weighed down with ongoing worries right now. xxx

Thank you everyone for your interesting posts.
Kandj, I have had "One More Step Along The Road I Go" going round and round my brain since you posted it on the 6th June.
I did a shop today and started thinking about the drivers who keep the shops stocked up or deliver to those who maybe can't get out to the stores themselves. So my prayer tonight is for anyone on the roads or railways, in the air or on the sea. May they stay safe.

Take Time
Take time to think... It is the source of power. Take time to play... It is the secret of perpetual youth. Take time to laugh... It is the music of the soul. Take time to pray... It is the greatest power on Earth.

I must go and get ready for the next round of workmen..................sigh.

Cynthia, I agree its good to have folk sharing their thoughts on here.
These words gave me food for thought and worthy of sharing I think.
We learn something from everyone who passes through our lives, Some lessons are painful, Some are painless, But all are priceless.
I like this and hope that others will like it too.
Thinking of those who feel frightened and anxious for whatever reason tonight. xx

Good morning :-)
The work is nearly finished........soon I will be able to get rid of the plaster dust and feel as though my home is clean once more. Can't wait!
For today:
At times I’m so discouraged with problems of the day I fail to see the joyful things that are along the way
When troubles overwhelm me It’s then my nerves may fray that’s when I need to take the time To simply sit and pray
Reflecting on God’s many the gifts It makes me so aware Of all the joy in little things around me everywhere!
I must try to remember though problems come my way not to miss the joyful things and the beauty of the day.

That is good news Cynthia. It doesn't seem very long since this was first mentioned and soon all will be done and sorted so showering can be safe for your husband again.
We all take simple things for granted and it good to give thanks for small mercies.
GIVE THANKS WITH A GRATEFUL HEART.
Give thanks with a grateful heart Give thanks to the Holy One Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ His son. (repeat)
And now let the weak say "I am strong" Let the poor say "I am rich" Because of what The Lord has done, for us. (repeat)
Give thanks Give thanks.
Today I am grateful for the people who are kind to me. What are you grateful for?
On this beautiful bright and sunny day, I am blessed to see see the beauty around and pray right now for all who are struggling with poor eyesight today. xx
