I wasn't offended Sue - just a bit touchy having read some rather scathing comments on another site.

The important thing is that this doesn't happen again and that the right people are held accountable.

I really feel for all the people involved at the hospital & especially for the family of the poor woman who died.
I would have thought that a patient of Kate´s importance would almost certainly have had a private phone line through to her room where she could make & recieve calls from the family.......but not at 5.30 am. No one in their right mind would call a sick person at that time of the morning.
She was almost certainly contactable on a mobile.
The hospital really needs to take the blame for all this & review it´s procedures.

Poor woman, may she rest in peace. It's awful that she is no longer here to be with her family due to two idiots trying to score points for their job. The media yet again have a lot to answer for.

I'm not defending the Dj's - but they, too, were surprised when their call was put through - and I believe the security should have prevented that.

Here in Australia, there is widespread criticism of the two 'idiots' (I understand it was only the third day on the job for one of them) - and they have both been 'pulled from the airwaves' whilst further action is decided.

For what it is worth - there is no support forthcoming for them on this side of the world.

Statement from the hospital "the nurse was not facing any disciplinary action" "we were offering her every support after the hoax call"

How much better to wait for facts and not to speculate on other businesses' internal procedures.

When i was having complications with my first pregnancy the hospital wouldn't even confirm to my Dad that I was even there...though in this case it was common knowledge..but all the more reason to be cautious surely?

Hey ho.. I'm loathe to hang draw and quarter the DJs...someone would've done it...because of the huge media interest if they hadn't......at best the hospital and security staff were naive...at worse.......negligent.

Anyhow..i'm off to bed now so nite all lol x

neither nurse should have been put in the position of taking the call !!

As i said in one of my earlier post, Nurses have been known to get the blame when someone higher up should be walking the plank

If you phone an NHS hospital at that hour (and I have) one of the security team answers the phone. Presumably because this is a private hospital that is not deemed necessary.

It's just unfortunate that this poor nurse took the incoming call and re-directed it through to the ward where Kate's room was located.

The second nurse who reportedly gave a status report is the one that should shoulder any blame.

Anyway I hate speculation so lets see what transpires AS THE TRUTH.

THe fact that there was a PERSON impersonating a corgi whilst all the info was being imparted is also a HUGE elephant in the room....there really was gross misconduct occurring here...yes the DJ's shouldn't have done it....BUT measures should've been put in place to protect both Kate AND the staff...and it wasn't which to my mind is unforgivable.... i blame the hospital for that..not the nurses or the DJs...were I management I'd really feel embarassed at the amateurish prank which was waived through.........and part of me would want to see heads roll..but ultimately the fault lies with management..because that is what they are there to do.......MANAGE.

Putting aside the dreadful consequences of the hoax call

The fact they managed to get through at all is what I have failed to understand from the beginning

A private hospital has a patient who is the subject of intense media interest they are camped outside in their dozens, the phone number would have been known to them and must have been hot with calls for information throughout Kate's stay

But it is a nurse who is answering the reception calls???

After the event the hospital says it is tightening up it's phone protocol?

Management at the hospital has to come under scrutiny - It is ultimately their responsibility

Bodyguards/royal protection officers would have a different approach to their work using covert and overt techniques and their job is to protect her from attack and kidnapping which is quite different to someone making a phone call to the Hospital

It doesn't make sense to me at all...call me an old cynic or conspiracy theorist...whatever..but I don't buy it.

None of you have considered WHERE was the Bodyguard as Kate has 3 bodyguards.

WHY didn't the nurse get the bodyguard to take the call,.the bodyguard should have been outside the room Kate was in sat on a chair..

Edit especially at 5-30am when the call came through to the hospital.

The irony is...we'd never have known her name but for this.....it wasn't plastered all over the papers.....and we still don't know the name of the other nurse involved (thank goodness).......it's just odd.

Nothing said on the itv news about her putting the call through,

but it said that she was the victim of the hoax call so looks like the report above from the dailyecho may be correct

I said at the time........when i heard this *prank* (and i've laughed loudly at others but not at this one because i just felt it was SO tame and pathetic)...I can't believe anyone would imagine the Queen being with Charles at 5.30am in the morning in the first place anyhow !!! So I'm not going to lie and say it's an easy mistake to make because it wasn't.

However from what I've heard THIS lady put the call through after a VERY brief conversation....she had nothing to be ashamed of.......something just smells very wrong to me here with this tbh .x

Apparently the call went through at 5.30 a.m. now I can picture night nurses coming towards the end of a shift, possibly without even been able to take a break due to the demands of patients, feeling shattered and certainly not alert enough to think this could not be H.M. May she rest in peace. It may not be suicide - no post mortem has been carried out. Her family must be devastated and thoughts go out to them and her children.
