Misuse of LESS and FEWER.


When asked "How are you?" The answer often given is "I am GOOD"

"Squad will move to the left in threes"
"You are like a group of Chinese washerwomen with no work to do" from the RSM - "sharpen up, lads" would have sufficed.

For what it’s worth, Clichés are old hat to be honest. When the chips are down, I prefer to pick the low hanging fruit and hit the ground running. Whilst not averse to some poetic license, my world view is that some serious reality checks help prevent rose tinted glasses. So if you absolutely must use mixed metaphors, it’s time to grab the bull by the tail and look him in the eye. Use plain old England, it’s like falling off a piece of cake. Here endeth the lesson.

Went to a meeting a few years ago and the so called 'consultant' was introduced and asked to share with us all the roadmap he had prepared.

After a few seconds of speaking he was interrupted and asked to explain what this roadmap thingy was supposed to be as we hadn't come across one before. He went into some detail explaining that it was a novel idea setting out all the various activities that would be necessary to achieve our goals.

After about fifteen minutes he was interrupted again with the comment, 'Oh, you mean a Plan, why didn't you say so in the first place - it would saved us four manhours sitting here listening to something we already knew'

And that's the way it is

Over use of the word... Amazing.
Both the contestants and the judges on Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor are the worst offenders .

" This is amazing".
" You are amazing"
" The public are amazing"

IPG reminds me of "face to face"meetings where the "EXPERT" is outlining something, usually financial........and continuously uses the word "OBVIOUSLY"

when to my mind if it was THAT obvious.........why is he trying to explain it?
