Gwynne Gave the source. Not BBC, but have seen all the names mentioned on more familiar source sites.
Kay???? Accept your point, but much of this has been brushed under carpet. Just our Jimmy. Turn a blind eye. Not doing any real harm. Will affect national security.
Now these people will be tried. Good. But will they all rot in prison? I doubt it. Can we all watch them locally if on sex offender's register? I wonder. Will they get any sympathy or help? I very much doubt it. The public attitude is to out them and punish them severely. Will they be allowed to emigrate? Probably, if they have enough money.
Over 400 complaints to police now. Split investigation into 3 parts: 1. JS 2. JS and others in ring 3. Others

John if there was a cure ,,,,,,,,,,dont you think our towns and cities world wide would be free of these types.
If its not in their genetic make-up then it wont raise its ugly head regardless of age.It just wont appeal to them,it wont give them any gratification ,it will repulse them.......just as their activities does us.
*and you've stated in an earlier post,*,,,*I knew what was going on and it made me feel sick*
Sue,,,,,one of those types over here has just died here in prison......

If you want a conspiracy theory have a trawl through a site called Children Have Respect In Society (CHRIS).
There is a humdinger in there.

""Both Conservative, and Labour governments are most certainly involved in covering up for paedophiles – at best, looking the other way, and at the worst, abusing the power of their office to cover-up known crimes.
Tony Blair has already done such a cover-up – and got away with it. In a fair world, he should stand trial today. In the wake of Operation Ore, his government employed massive redactions and D-Notices to keep a lid on a long list of names in government who appeared during a joint US-UK transatlantic paedophile sweep investigation.
Blair issued a D-Notice, resulting in a gag order on the press from publishing any details of the investigation. Blair played the national security card, citing an impending war in Iraq as a reason for the D-Notice. ""
From 21st century wire. A previous PM was named as well as other household names. Personally, am finding it difficult to take all this in. Just glad I am not David Cameron or Ed Milliband.

I'm aware John that it's an international problem and that it isn't confined to the UK - that is why I mentioned a high profile case in Australia.
Gwynne - I have to be honest and say that I have read very little regarding whether paedophilia is considered a mental disorder or illness. I also agree that Wikipedia is hardly a font of knowledge - much of what I have read is inaccurate.

Wikipedia is only as good as those who contribute pages to it and it's also USA based.
In the UK I believe it's viewed as a mental disorder rather than an illness. Although the debate still rages. As far as I know from reading around none have ever been cured.

SueMaid I have to agree with what you have posted.
But this is an international problem, internet child porn is readily available. It is not a UK problem - far from.
The worrying new info here in UK is that leading people in society were linked to Savile. Peter Righton was prosecuted successfully in 1994 and he had been a close aide to the PM. Something else I spotted this morning on Amazon:
Amazon.co.uk: Peter Righton: Books. ... Child Care: Concerns and Conflicts by Sonia Morgan and Peter Righton (Paperback - 1 Jan 1976)
Might not be him as author - but bet it is :-( :-(

We had a high profile paedophile on trial here a number of years ago. He smirked his way through the trial and said that he thought we - the 'normal' people - were just uneducated and that it was a well know fact that children were 'sexual beings'. The judge who presided made himself very clear about how he felt about this man at his sentencing. He died in jail - I think most people were glad about that.
He was part of a large paedophile ring - others were caught and jailed but many got away with it.
I look at my little grandchildren and I feel sick at the thought of any of them or their little friends being hurt by someone who thinks he/she has a perfect right to do whatever he/she wants to do.

Kay?????? I have no idea what causes paedophilia. And I have always been one of the "string them up by the genitalia in public" brigade.
But decided to look it up on Wikipedia. It may be very wrong, but this is the first two paragraphs.
""As a medical diagnosis, pedophilia, or paedophilia, is defined as a psychiatric disorder in persons who are 16 years of age or older typically characterized by a primary or exclusive sexual interest in prepubescent children (generally age 13 years or younger, though onset of puberty varies). The prepubescent child must be at least five years younger than the adolescent before the attraction can be diagnosed as pedophilia.
The term has a range of definitions, as found in psychiatry, psychology, the vernacular, and law enforcement. The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) defines pedophilia as a "disorder of adult personality and behaviour" in which there is a sexual preference for children of prepubertal or early pubertal age. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), it is a paraphilia in which a person has intense and recurrent sexual urges towards and fantasies about prepubescent children and on which feelings they have either acted or which cause distress or interpersonal difficulty.""
That has made me think about cure rather than castration or elimination from society. Many people living perfectly respectable lives probably have strange urges. But there are surely ways to curb those urges without doing any damage to fellow humans.

it seems everywhere he went and contact with has a story to tell.
I was never a fan of his,,,as 1) I thought he was ugly, 2)too stuipid for words and 3)was a big head.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I just hope anything like this never happens again and anyone now knowing something may have gone with others in the limelight come forward and exposes the whole sordid lot.

Last night I heard a tape recording by a 'family menber' of JS. It is obviously in the public domain, so can be repeated. This 'family member' described how JSassaulted her twice. The first time was at a family gathering, when she was 12. After it had happened, she went to tell her Gran. Gran said 'Oh, that's our Jimmy, I'll sort it'. The second time was when she was 15. She is now 49, so work out for yourself how old JS was at the time. Most certainly old enough to know better It made for pretty gross listening.
Like AnnCardif mentioned yesterday, I too wish they would not put his picture in the paper everyday. We all know who he is, and I too find it creepy
This morning on the news, as has been stated above, Scotland Yard are ready to make arrests.

John do you think that research hasnt gone on for years into why these people have this perversion to do the thing they do,they cant be cured, even by surgery!! as the genetic make-up is still there.
They feel no remorse ,they feel what they do is normal, they feel that there should be no law that prevents them from carrying out their vile behaviour.,,,thats why they group together to carry out their lifestyle, thats why the internet has become more allureing for them,,,,,,every week somewhere someone is caught with downloads on their PC.
Some peadophiles have no preferences for gender,,,it can be a 1 month old baby girl to a 12 year old boy.
They want putting in a floating prison with all their kind as they are incurable.

John, I'm fairly sure it isn't an illness - that implies it can be cured and most psychiatrists don't think it can be.
Like other sexual crimes it has a very high rate of recidivism because paedophiles don't want a cure. They think their are "normal". Many studies and interviews with paedophiles show that.
Throw away the key, I say.

Would have liked to have joined in with "is sex a good thing at 83?" Well, yes certainly if I was Bruce Forsyth.
I looked up paedophile today as I was not at all sure what it was. I am so used over the years to seeing creepy looking men being surrounded by angry mothers.
It appears to be a mental illness, a fascination with pre-pubescent and pubescent genitalia and is perhaps curable. I think perhaps we need to think about this more. Identify those with the problem and deal with the illness at source.
Savile and many others appear to have abused over 300 children - probably many more. It will happen again unless we create an environment where these criminals can talk and are not too intimidated.
It is rightly a crime and they need to be punished according to processes of law. But I think a civilised society needs to think more about researching why it occurs in first place and trying to help these perverted mentally ill lead a more ordinary life in old age

No I don't know your circumstances , why would I ? Its a bit of fun .. sorry if the meaning of fun passed you by this time.
