I dont want to read all the posts in case someones sticking up for him. But the police had so many chances to do something...nobody did, the same with Cyril Smith and Lord knows who else. Wonder if they were being paid off, or if there were abusers within the police too. Nothing surprises me.

many years ago in the 60s my sister and i were in the local park we saw our local chippy owner drop his pants in front of us...told our mum and she went mad with us. she blamed us. it would never have been reported to the police. we were seen but never heard, the shame would have been to much for a family in them days. it went on as in them days it wasnt really classed as an offence. kids have been ignored for years. now they can speak out..but things will still be covered up to protect the front they used for years to get away with abuse. and in the 60s i didnt know what a paedophile was. never heard of the word. but i knew what the word weirdo ment. that is what j.s. was called many years ago...if only we knew then what we now know...

putting this on here in case any of those reading this thread know of someone who has been abused, or if someone who has been abused, need it - this is an excellent organisation which helps adults who were abused when they were children

Lord MacAlpine is now close to reaching a settlement with the BBC and his solicitors are looking at suing others (Silly Sally Bercow included).

I would imagine that his ill health has not been helped by this episode.

All because no-one bothered to check the facts, what on earth do they pay their researchers for a the BBC if they cannot do even the most simple checking. Even Lord MacAlpine said if they had bothered to call him he could have told them that a the time this all happened he was not in Wales and had only ever been there once in his life and not to the are where this home is and it is all verifiable.

So firstly shame on the Police for showing the photo to a man, who although he was abused, was expected to remember the face after all this time, you get the feeling that they wanted him to pick out a certain person! And shame on the BBC for not checking any information before broadcasting it.

A basic rule in all walks of life, if you are going to put anything down in writing that could be considered 'iffy' do your research.

All of which makes me wonder how many others who have been 'named and shamed' are also innocent. It is problems like this which detract from the whole basic issue of Child Abuse. People are quick to accuse and slow to apologise.

:-(

Jill I had to nick a nun once for shoplifing in my supermarket, so know exactly what you mean :-( :-(

I notice one or two have named names on this thread. I hope they are not too wealthy as any one named incorrectly can secure damages.

Heard today that Lord MacAlpine is pursuing a number who have tweeted his name without any proof and some who have copied his name from other tweets.

Yes, Sue. I now realise that you saved me from a possible expensive error. Many thanks.

Hi John. I hope that you are right about your friend. Sadly though, those we think we know are not what or who we believe them to be.

I thought I knew two people but they both turned out to be thieves and fraudsters. One who worked as an accountant in a very large business even turned out not to be using his real name and everything about him, including references was fake. I never found out who he really was. I've often wondered if his wife knew. The first I knew was a telephone call from hubby's best mate to say he'd been on trial and been jailed.

I do feel for those who were simply aquaintances of JS. There must surely be some innocent people being dragged into this. Of course if they were aquaintances and kept their mouths shut.......

Joeva Yes, I agree. Those words are becoming chillingly familiar. I mentioned that phrase a couple of months ago on here, but most posters were too busy saying what a horrible person I was to notice.

It is the vast majority's idea of sexual perversion, not fun. But if that type of perversion floats their boat, then I suppose that is how they justify what they have allegedly done.

Have you noticed all the alleged abusers are very confident and could charm the birds out of the trees. I still remain pretty confident that my friend was not guilty of any offence, but every day brings new surprises. :-( :-(

I read those newspaper articles that you referred to - straight away I realised that this was your friend because of the information you had given out about him on this and other threads.

The words used by him regarding his time with JS were chillingly familiar ' we just had fun'....................

At the risk of getting more stick, I have noticed that my friend who was an assistant to JS in late 1960's and was very prominent at his funeral last year has been in several of the newspapers in the last couple of weeks.

He has said he had no idea what Savile was up to. I actually believe him, but the police will get to the bottom of it all. I so hope he is telling the truth :-(

Interesting that he was interviewed in the Ripper investigations.

It did set me wondering if there might have been any he could not pay off that he may have silenced in some other way.

Just a thought.

Read the story and the nephew had been in hospital since a week into the investigation into the alleged sex abuse That means to say it must have been at least 3/4 weeks sice he was taken in..
Weird how he died exactly a year after JS.

It took my mind off the ever-lengthening JS debacle for a while at least.

Depending on your search engine, when you search for JS a box appears to show other people being linked to that search.

One new name has popped up, I guess he'll be next!

Mentioned the other day that JS's brother Vincent was a coal miner in Cymmer near Porth.

Today in the Mirror, the death was announced of a nephew of JS who was 72 and lived in Pontypridd. I should imagine he was a son of Vincent. He was so upset about this furore surrounding "Uncle Jim" which he knew nothing about. He stopped eating and was found dead a couple of days ago. :-( :-(
