JoyLouise, we would never eat butter on Bacon Sarnies in these parts, and that goes back to before Blood Pressure, Calories and Cholesterol were invented. We like abit of 'Dip' on one side of the bread. Sauce is optional, but we like brown in this house.

Never cut the crusts off my sarnies, my gran told me it would give me curly hair, :-D still trying, but its not working,seems to be disappearing at a rate of knots. :-( :-(

Oooh, a bacon butty with loads of butter on the bread, of course, is delicious. I don't care whether the bread is untoasted or lightly toasted just as long as it's white. A bacon butty using anything but white is just not right.

And what's with those who put tomato sauce or any other sauce on a bacon butty?

The only additive could be fried onions - I can feel my blood pressure rising at the thought of it all.

If Dizzi turns up with one of those, I'd be in seventh heaven.

It doesn't take much to get us oldies to wake up, does it?

What happened to cutting your own crusts off of bread. I do, especially when making toasties in my Toastie Machine.
Then I put the crusts into the Food Processor and make into bread crumbs and freeze. Waste not, want not.

Be careful, :-D Dizzi might turn up with her favourite recipe for Bacon Butties, :-D steak keeps your strength up as well, delicious Medium Rare with Garlic. :-D

A favoured jaffle is made with crustless bread, loads of butter, cheese, beans and Vegemite - the Vegemite you understand keeps my strength up as well as my blood pressure.

Everything drips all over!

Well I regularly have toast made in front of an open fire ,with lots of Beef Dripping and pepper. :-D very tasty. ;-)

You're right, Merlin, but that Crusts Away bread makes lovely jaffles (now called toasted sandwiches).

Do you remember jaffle makers at all? They had long handles and the bread and filling went into a square at one end then they were held over a fire or lit ring. The stuff (especially cheese) simply oozed out. Also before toasted sandwich makers people without a jaffle maker simply put the whole sandwich into a frying pan and flipped it over like a pancake to do the other side.

My age is showing now - and all this talk's making me hungry (not really hungry but wantful - is there such a word?).

Back to Rose's interesting thread, my 3 kittens sleep in my metal bread bin. Keep my bloomers in the freezer :-S

i used to breed and show Siamese and Devon Rex cats
but now i have two moggies from the rescuse they are so pretty
mind they may not be so pretty
if they dont stop scratching my new wall paper now i have just rescued moggies

a male kitten is usually broader in the face and head than a female same as rabbits :-D

I just looked at the FACES of my 3 kittens - 66% strike rate. Anyway, pretty little Buddug is about to be done this week, so she will not be a proud father and no one's cat's pedigree will have a girl''s ame as the father. My own dad was Sue :-( :-( :-(

I have a ceramic bread crock, and yes it does match the coffee,sugar and tea containers on me worktop.
Keeps bread well.

I only have 1 bread bin that we all use or wow betide :-| yes we actually keep bread in it, I have no idea if its ideal for keeping bread fresher in this house it doesnt get the chance to go stale, it was choosen purely to match the decor of the rest of the kitchen ...lol :-D :-D :-D
