Jude I don't think, and didn't imply, that Dutch was lying, nor did I read any of Lynda's comments that implied she thought that. either.

To be fair, if someone doesn't know much about meningitis, or lumber punctures, or viruses, then the content of what they post is likely to be queried by those who do ( like my aunt who always gets the names of illnesses wrong...she could tell you someone had anthrax rather than suffering from anaemia so you do have to ask her has she got that quite right!).

The main thing is that the children are recovering from whatever it was, and that we all have had the chance to google and can be satisfied we would recognise the symptoms of meningitis if God forbid we had to. :-)

And thank goodness the hospital were obviously aware too. Often you see where meningitis has been missed because the hospital have not picked up on the symptoms. Thank goodness too for the vaccinations that are now available for some strains (I am not sure if they are available for all strains). We often get the symptoms published in our local paper because the Meningitis trust headquarters are not far from here.

Dutch, It's hard not to worry when children are ill especially, and more so if you are far away and can't be there to know what's happening.

I remember sitting by Dan all one night as his temperature rocketed and he was delirious, worrying that it might be meningitis and poised to ring the doctor back if he got worse.

You always worry more for children than you do for yourself, glad they are recovering and hope you will enjoy your trip over here. :-D

I'm so glad for you Dutch the children are home.....My freinds little boy of 2 years old died with Bacterial Meningitis within 2days 3 years ago ,,,,,,it was an horrendous time as I was his godmother..so when I hear or read Bacterial I know how deadly this strain can be if not treated in quick time,is deadly and will have a lasting effect in some way.

Anyone showing classic signs of Meningitis will be tested for it,many who go on foriegn holidays will come back showing classic signs but usually its just a water born virus they have picked up,,but a lumber tap is the only clear way to tell,,,,,,Men/septimima is the rash type and toxins poison the blood stream.

AnnGlos...No the jabs dont cover all strains, there isnt a jab for meniingitis strep.....

Over joyed to hear that both children are recovering well, thank goodness for modern medicines.

I have been watching for updates, but not posted as the out come was not a happy one for my Grandson 17yrs ago. It was first diagnosed as 'just a virus', by the time proven to be Meningitis, it was too late the toxins had poisoned his blood & Encephalitis had set in.

To those posting in a negative way, you have no idea what it is like when you have a very sick child.

Until we lost our Josh, I thought I knew the symptoms of Meningitis, but I now do.

aivlyS I take it i am one of the several people so can you tell me which post distorted anything that Dutch said Bye the way if you have only been a member since 2012 how did you know to find 2 more post from earlier years relating to Dutch and her family. Why cant some people just be thankfull that the 2 children are both well and back home regardless of what they have had,Some of us were not that lucky and it has been hard for me to listen to and support DUTCH but i have been there for her all the way,Glad you are both on the road to recovery Chole and Benjamin and hope to see you at the wedding

SYLVIA

WHY DID YOU NUDGE THOSE OLD THREADS,
IT WAS THOSE THAT CAUSED ALL THE CONFUSION

sheila7

sheila7 Report 14 Aug 2012 22:22

Some are just born to cause trouble Dizzi some just work so b-----dy hard to get it perfect, and no Aivlys i am not disapointed

aivlyS

aivlyS Report 14 Aug 2012 22:27

No Dizzi it was not them that caused the confusion it was the stuff being posted on this one , I nudged the other two to show that we never were told the outcome last time , so doubted we would be this time , and the only reason we have this time is people pressing for news of the children ... never mind it seems the meningitis was not meningitis and the children are home so alarm over ......
