Well it seems to some people think that people that have epilepsy should not be on a computer, thats just silly as it's disriminating against disabled people. I'm a paying member just like all the other members on here, and like all members I am allowed my point of view too.

Yes I have epilepsy and the new change of colour on here does not help my condition. I have informed GR of this in more detail, only to have a reply from them saying my message will be passed to the right people but I won't get a reply from them. I replied because GR requested it in a thread they added.

If you have problem with any changes made you should let GR know about it at least.

My daughter is epileptic and has been since the age of 9....she is 39 now.....We had our first computer many years ago and we had to buy a special screen cover to stop the glare it was like a fine mesh which we placed across the screen. My daughter could always tell when things were about to happen as she would have what she called a funny smell....this was her warning sign, and this happened a lot when she spent time on the computer.....strangely fresh paint was another trigger. It was awful for her through her teenage years but she has lived her life to the full passing her driving test after being fit free for a number of years, having two lovely children and becoming a secondary teacher...a job she loves. I don't think there is such a stigma attached to people who suffer with epilepsy now as there was years ago....thank heavens! I for one dislike the background on here it is far too bright for me.

Well, I.,ve been rumaging through my "Keep because it might be usful drawer" and found an old pair of Clip on Sunshades put them over my Reactolite Specs and so far it works.Just got to see if I get another headache. :-D :-D :-D

Well I have been looking at other threads with my sunglasses on & as far as I can see GR have members using this site with sunglasses on to stop things like headaches, epileptic attacks, eyestrain etc. What I would like to know is....

1. Do GR feel it is normal to make PAYING MEMBERS of GR use the site only if they have sunglasses on?

2. What are GR going to do about it?

3. Because of a new family tree layout some people have had family tree all mixed up, What are GR going to about that too?

E mail them and ask them .. it is them that you want the answer from is it not ?

I did & the response was I wouldnt get an answer, so I'm working on the theory they may read their own site BUT it's the weekend so I won't hold my breath.

Can't you read what other people are saying, That this site is exceptionlly white (Glow White)
If you don't have a medical condition (& I hope you don't) that this is Not Kind too, you could not fully understand.
Any how that said I have to get off here now as I have lots of other things that need to be done. I might be back later if I have time.

White is white ...lol..this is no different from any other WHITE , ..this is just making a mountain out of a mole hill should of guessed it would go down the make people ill route , it is a wonder it has not been blamed for making people spell badly .. or has it ?? lol probably cannot be bothered reading the umpteen threads on the subject to find out .

No it's not white, but it is too bright Sylvia, with an 'unfortunate' contrast of colours, you may be lucky enough not to have any problem with it, but that does not mean that no one else is...as you say there are lots of threads on this...those members can't all be drama queens or plain wrong can they?

GR are working on it , that is obvious, it is also obvious that until they have come up with the finished article, it will be difficult for those who have problems, and those who don't , to reach any middle ground.

Mainly it is the size of the text that is the problem because it leaves too much bright background, and the fineness of the turquoise text that 'merges' too much.

I won't comment on the spelling issue, but I am sure that those who are dyslexic would not say it affected them adversely if that were not the case.

- Sylvia, try choosing a tin of white paint; there are many variations of white :)
And one can see from the post in the announcements board that GR are attempting to resolve certain issues; GR staff have accepted that there are issues that need resolving.

Hold a piece of white paper up next to this screen.
The paper is reflecting the light around you , the computer is generating white.Huge difference
Printing uses Cyan Magenta yellow and black because it is reflective light that creates the colours. Computer screens use green red yellow and black as it is projected colour.
I personally think the contrast is way too strong plus the turqoise vinette either side of the page is too fine . I can see waves in mine.
Perhaps this is the cause of the problems people are experiencing

White is White

NOT so

Their are around 25 to 30 thousand shades of White (Fact)

Several colours will reflect light but White is by far the most reflective colour of all,(Fact)

It's the reflective aspect of the White on GR that is the problem

According to my paint chart ( well known make ) this is slightly lighter than "whisper of soft khaki" ( under green shades) , or "Hillstar' well known DIY store's own under 'soft whites' . :-D

I'm not finding it any whiter than Facebook but I think the turquoise lettering should be in bold. That would help, I think.

It's not as bright as it was a day or so ago.
