I've not seen any of it; I've been in the kitchen and just come in for a glass of juice before I head to bed for a couple of hours sleep. I have got it recording though in the hope of seeing my friend's son. He could well be one of those who look like they are in pjs.

Not into sport particularly but am enjoying the opening. It's probably a bit confusing for some from other countries, but it does show how much the British have to be proud of. Great history lesson!

I agree Rose....the rendition of Abide with Me was diabolical. Don't have a clue who the woman was either..... :-S

The James Bond bit was good.

Hey Eldrick......guess who liked the fact that hymns were sung???? ;-) :-D

Beckham worked bloody hard to bring the Olympics here........wouldn't have a problem with him playing a role in it..........much as at times he annoys the bejesus out of me lol x

I'd have more sympathy for the IT'S BRIT if the other countries sang the bleeding anthem.........but hey..........who cares........this is what the world will be watching........everything else is secondary x

Well proud to be British, humour, drama, great music, the telling of of our history, theatre and it's not over yet, I'd call it culture. Loved it at the rehearsal, loved it more on the night, and it isn't over yet, just wait to see what is to come :-D

The reason the speak in French? It is the first tongue of the IOC, it's done at every Olympics.

One thing I don't want to happen though is David Beckham to light the flame, I hope it's someone who has either won an Olympic medal, or a non celeb, who deserves to.

I was really impressed with the raising of the chimneys and the 'forging' of the rings, imagine the technicalities of doing that, and it working!

But I think the night has to go to the Queen parachuting in at her age.... :-D

I think, all in all, a success qnd a credit to all who took aprt, especially the large numbers of children. To all those who think it was rubbish imagine your children or grandchildren taking part and them hearing you tell them they were rubbish.

Just saying, thats all. Wish id been there to see it :-D

The 'daft woman' I mentioned has redeemed herself now she is commentating on her area of expertise.

I am somewhat diverted though by her and Huw doing the serious stuff and the other guy whoever he is trying to get a word in and failing rather miserably :-D

I didn't like the rendition of 'Abide with me', which is a shame as it's a cracking bit of music when done with a bit of 'oomph' :-D

Barbra

Barbra Report 27 Jul 2012 22:44

Lol

Who would tell those deaf kids that sang the national anthem that they were rubbish?

Only thing i didnt like was the hymns. But regardless, a lot of hard work gone into it and i think its been a spectacular success.
