Teresa,
Hope you had a lovely weekend in the big smoke, we want all the goss :-D. I hope the celebs your fruit has met have been pleasant. I always tell myself, my money is as good as theirs.... just they have bucket loads more than 'moi'....
There will be no risque comments in the FOB speech... Can't vouch for any of the other speakers though :-D. Crikey, only four sleeps to go. It is quite weird, I actually forget for a moment while busy with everyday life, then I remember and I take a deep breath and run through my mental checklist. One can do no more to ready things for the day. "que sera sera", and all that jazzzzzzz ;-).
I am cooking good old spag bog tonight, if I don't stop 'testing', OH will have no dinner when he finally gets home.. Midday lucheon was along time ago :-S..
Fruit has been and gorn again in a whirlwind visit. Her Zumba instructor has made her a lovely bejewelled hanger for 'the dress'. How very kind indeed <3.
Petunia, perhaps a kiwifruit or three will help boost your vitaman C levels?, we don't call them 'kiwis', that is what we are.. We call them kiwifruit.., previously known (when I was but a mere gal) as Chinese Gooseberries :-S.
Tis 7.36pm, I have another half hour til OH is home and I am hungry NOW..
Enjoy your breakfast and have a nice day :-)
If you have a moment, please check out the Welsh thread re dear Jean (Monmouth), she is in need of our support at the moment <3

Teresa dear, do type your messages in a Word document and save regularly, Jesus Saves and he doesnt lose anything. Once your message is typed, highlight copy and paste into the message box. Seemples!
We could sit here typing Claims To Fame, lol :-D :-D
One of my claims to fame is that I attended a school that was later attended by two of the stars of Birds of a Feather. I never met them, but they woz there after me ..... ;-) ;-) ;-)
When my sister worked for the civil service, Lord something or other visited her office and commented on her pot plant.
When my dear lady Mama worked for a local authority, the Queen Mother came to visit. Mama, however, didnt look up from her desk. And this was the lady who used to tell me Royalty Sets The Fashion because she wanted me to wear a horrible pair of shoes of a similar style to shoes Princess Anne had been photographed wearing.

*gasps in horror* Petunia dear I trust you do not hold up TWO fingers when indicating to Pat rish aaaaah how many packets of Duchy Original biscuits you require. It doesnt always mean the Victory sign, you know. Dont the store staff glare at you?
No that trumpet isnt my hearing aid dear. My hearing aids are much smaller than that, and delicately made to match my delicate shell-like. That trumpet looks like it belonged to your dear late Papa, and could have been made in India, and it smells of stale curry and tobacco. Would you like me to make you an appointment at Specsavers, dear?
Actually I dont tolerate too much citric acid either, I get gumburn (so I dont eat oranges, satsumas etc) and it can make the muscle pain of the FM worse as well, so I only take a squirt of the stuff in with boiled water, honey and brandy when I am under the weather. I've also used it as a scalp massage lotion, it can be quite invigorating on the scalp. Vinegar also causes gumburn, and its wonderful stuff for cleaning kettles or rinsing one's goldilocks with. I dont drink Coke but I hear it can be used to clean toilets, Kim and Aggie say so.
Red Sails in the Sunset - I have a copy of that by the Ink Spots or Platters, forget which. I remember, many years ago, one Sunday this song was played on Two Way Family Favourites, and a few days later there was a ruckus because the song had been played for a soldier who'd died before the show aired, and the bereaved family had written to the producers asking them not to play the record. This message was not received in time .....
We had business in Wood Green this evening, and drove all the way there and all the way back in pouring rain. Is that dig about the Ark and firewood aimed at me? Look, it has been a very cold and protracted winter. Be grateful dear that I didnt start burning the contents of your library, like they did in the movie Day After Tomorrow. One had to keep warm.

Here it is dear. I think that trumpet could do with a rinse out, it has a mouse nest in the bottom of it.................
Yes Miss T does frequent the same supermarket as my goodself. No that I take things from the shelves myself, that is Pat-trishaaaaaahs job. I just point, and hold up the required amount of fingers to denote how many. It works for us.
I fear for my poor tummy with the amount of honey and lemon I have knocked back. All this citric acid seems to be very wearing on my intestines. I have heartburn now, to add to the sniffy nose and sore throat. All in all. I am not looking my best.
Tis raining again. Great big droplets like penny pieces. I am very vexed that the Ark was chopped up for firewood. We are expecting a boat in kit form within the next few days. I shall be hiring a 'Man who does' to do it. It will be a simple affair, no longer than 200 ft. with luxury interiors. Nothing but the best when we sail away................................Red sails in the Sunset, la da da da da.
I fear an attack of the coughing coming on gels. Stand back.
Now what was it Papa used to say.................
Its not the cough that carries you orft Its the coffin they carry you off in.................

Rain?? so delighted for you Susan :-) It just goes to show - rain dances really do work especially when one stands beneath the full moon on a cold crisp night merely skyclad. Perhaps I should do a raindance for the Sahara next ....... ;-)
I do hope that Mister Susan-nz will not be including any risque comments in his Father Of The Bride speech ..... :-D
Have you heard Alfie Boe? His exquisite rendition of Bring Him Home really tugs at the heartstrings.
Petunia dear I presume that Miss Tarbuck lives in London and shops in the establishments you patronise? Another lovely lady is Cilla Black; after meeting her at a book signing once (for her auto biography) I bought the book. She wasnt famous when the Beatles first hit the headlines, and while watching a documentary about the Beatles one time which included film footage of some girls pushing their way into a theatre, I saw Miss Priscilla White charging through the doors with some other girls, she was very recognisable even then. Apparently, Jimmy Tarbuck "chased her off" with a few unchoice words when she followed the Beatles around. But, they later became friends. Cilla's late husband Bobby Willis was with her from the early days when she was still the coatcheck girl at the Cavern. She did that in her lunch breaks, as she worked as a typist. One of her sons was with her at the book signing, and his eyes were everywhere, so I think he was doubling as a body guard.
I dont slam doors, dear. I am as quiet as the proverbial church mouse. I have never heard myself slam a door, or rattle the windows in their frames, in my life. Has anyone seen my hearing aids? :-D :-D :-D

Oh dear girls, we get a persona of a celeb but they are not all what they seem, and it is such a pity.
In my professional capacity I meet a lot of dignitaries and celebritities. I must say the loveliest person I have met, and still meet, is that nice Lisa Tarbuck.
She is very warm and approachable, and talks to everyone. She chuckles like she does on the tv, and is very pleased when anyone asks her about her dear old Dad. A lovely girl, and not a bit stuck up at all. I look forward to seeing her.
Poor Lesley, we are a sickly pair are we not? I think we should turn to drink, and then we will not care how ill we are.
I wondered where you popped off to dear Cherry, can you find it in your heart to shut the door a little quieter when you leave. You fairly took it off its hinges dear. This is an old house, and it rattles. More so when you slam the door behind you.
Are you sober yet Teresa? I hope you celebrated royally.
Now dear Susan, I am pleased that water has fallen. It will now brighten up for the Big Day. I am soooo excited for you. Ah Father of the Bride, how proud he will be walking his little girl down the aisle. You will all shed a tear, or two.
Placing a hottie bottle up my back.

Hip Hooray,
the drought has broken, we have had the lots of the wet stuff over the last 24 hours. More to come today and then fining up again on Tuesday... I never thought I would ever be so happy to see rain :-).
Sorry to hear you are still poorly Petunia, goodness, the malaise is lingering. Have you been to see the Doctor?. I hope you feel much better asap... you too Lesley.
My OH is trying to write his speech, I am helping :-D.. I must admit to a few tears this morning. Oh crikey, best I invest in some water proof mascara.....
Ladies, I bought the new Andrea Bocelli CD yesterday. I heard a song on the radio recently and it was him. I loved his voice so splurged a whole $19.99. Tis most enjoyable. Even OH 'enjoyed' it..
Better go, tis Monday again already :-S, work is beckoning...
Toodle,
Susan

Petunia dear you just stay cosily in bed. I am sure the church can manage without you for one day. In fact they could probably manage without you for a year or two. And you need to build your strength up. Pat rish aaaah will be checking on you regularly, bearing trays of soup and pots of tea and best crumpets from SainsCo.
I actually feel quite cold all the way to my bones, and its me not the house. We went out this morning to Thaxted, on a little business matter. Nice drive but the rain poured down all the way home.
Perhaps Pat rish aaaah can bring me some soup as well, and a smoked salmon sandwich while she's at it.
Shall I read to you dear? Would you like extracts from Titbits, Weekend, News of the World, National Enquirer, or the Hackney Gazette? Now, just give me a moment or two to find my reading glasses .......

hello Lesley, I always thought that Liza Goddard has cold eyes which usually denotes a cold and standoffish nature. You should read about her on Wiki ... I wont repeat the details here but its interesting reading.
I heard that Kenneth Williams was also very unapproachable, in contrast to Joan Sims and Barbara Windsor who were always pleased to stop and talk nicely to their fans.
Another one who didnt welcome the fans was Jerry Desmond, from the 1950s, I think he used to work with Norman Wisdom. As I recall, Jerry was so nasty to someone it made the papers.
When I could still sit in theatre seats, I spent a few years going to two theatres to see some of the big pop names from the 1950s/1960s, and at the end of the shows they spared time to speak to the patrons, with one exception and that was Gerry Marsden, he didnt hang around after the show but he did do a Q & A session during the show. I didnt get to speak to Marty Wilde either as he didnt come to the bar, but the Wildcats did .... nice blokes :-D!! I got a hug and a kiss from Ray Ennis (Blue Jeans), and Frankie Allen (Searchers), and shook hands with and got a hug from one of The Drifters, and had a chat with Joe Brown. Joan Regan, Roy Hudd, and Max Bygraves were another three lovely people who had all the time in the world for their fans. Helen Shapiro's show finished with her walking through the audience to get to the foyer to speak to people, with the audience following like sheep. I pushed my way to the front and got to speak to her and thought she was very nice too. There are a few more people I'd like to see ..... if I could only sit in the seats, sigh ........

Good Afternoon
CC Liza Goddard was one of the most unapproachable, unfriendly people I have ever met and she was completely oblivious of what her son was up to, he was like a lost soul:-|
Yesterday I went out for lunch with my girlfriends, it was lovely to see them as it always is :-D not sure I should have gone though as today I feel as though I have been set back 2 or 3 days :-0 I'm as week as a kitten :-(
Not long know for the big day Susan :-D
Hope you enjoyed your birthday weekend Teresa x
Keep warm and cosy Auntie Dear.

Peeps over bedclothes.
Do you know this is the first time I have missed church in a long, long time. Thank goodness it was not my turn to do the flowers.
Beatrice is to pop around later with all the gossip, erm, news. She sees so much from her lofty position at the organ. She has a mirror above her head too, so she can see what the dratted choir boys are doing. One had a frog the other week, and the amphibian escaped and it was hopping all over the choir stalls. What a shame it jumped under the foot pedal..............................
Georgianna is on a sourjourn with dear Mr Georgianna. They are over in Rome, and no doubt she will have an audience with the new Pope. She is very big in those circles, and will no doubt have wangled an afternoon tea too.
Octavia has been conspicious by her absence too. She has a 'troublesome' daughter, so maybe she is having some kind of crisis there. How complicated some people's lives are.
Thank goodness I have a stress free life. I go about quietly, doing what I do, and bothering no one..............................
I wonder if anyone else is up yet.................I am really parched...................and I cannot possibly go downstairs with this muzzy head of mine..................and this sore throat. I shall have to call gently................

*glares at Petunia* please keep your germs to yourself dear, and cover your face when you sneeze. I'd better have a double dose of your best brandy before I go to bed tonight. tutty tut, some people are so inconsiderate.
Yes I saw the Shawshank Redemption, and the book was a brilliant read as well.
Hospitals everywhere are being snipped here and chopped at there, and never mind the patients. Get rid of 95% of the highest paid penpushers, I say, and there will be more money for genuine patients and their needs.
*stands up and stretches* I hope you feel better very soon dear, nighty night, I am orf now for my beauty sleep. What did Pat rish aaaah do with my hot water bottle .....?

Oooooh my aching head, no matter how many parrotseathemall I take, I am still stuffy and snotty at the same time.
There has been a rally today at our local hospital. They are thinking of shutting the A & E. Dept, and everyone is up in arms over it. Also part of the hospital is being sold off. We are not happy bunnies at all. This hospital covers a large part of North London, and is central to us all. Tutty tut.
Rita Hayworth was also kept hanging around by Tim Robbins too dear. She covered his escape route. No, that is not a double entendre. Tis a fact from Shawshank.
I must say dear Teresa, you look no older than you did yesterday dear. Still in youthful bloom. Did you like the dressing table encoutrement dear. Oh, you dont wear talcum powder? Keep it for your finest jewellery dear. It is used to having expensive diamonds kept in it.
Another weekend closer dear Upsidedown Susan. Now remember to drink the camomile tea this week to settle your nerves.
Lesley, thank you for your concern dear. Thank goodness I had the flu jab dear, I would hate to think how I would be if I hadn't.
Cherry, shove over, give me a full share of the fire. Oh sorry dear, did I sneeze on you. #smiles airily#

WELL ..... !!! I live and learn. I read in a magazine article that Liza Goddard was born in a certain London maternity hospital, the same one where I popped into existence.
I just looked in Wiki and it turns out the lady was born in Smethwick. But, she is my birthday twin. Just goes to show - we really cannot believe what we read in the Press.

you must have had some rough brandy Lesley. Apple brandy is a wonderful restorative, and very smooth. I used to perk the goldfish up with a small teaspoon of brandy in the fishtank, now and again. The last one to die, lived to about 13 years of age.
Been poking my nose in to read some other threads. I used to watch Bergerac years ago. I forgot until my daughter reminded me - I used to say that Bergerac could arrest and frisk me any time :-D :-D
Liza Goddard is my birthday twin, and she was born in the same maternity hospital. Just think - my Mama could have been in the next bed to Liza Goddard's mother. I looked at the GRO index for that year and quarter and there is no Goddard listed so its not her real surname.
She used to be married to Bernard Jewry who was better known as Alvin Stardust and before that he was Shane Fentone of The Fentones.

It was the Aga Khan who married Rita Hayworth dear, I just checked on Wiki.
There is an Ali Khan - he is Saif Ali Khan, an Indian actor known for his work in Bollywood films. He is the son of the cricket player and last titular Nawab of Pataudi, Mansoor Ali Khan.
There is also Citizen Khan, in his 1970s suit, living with a houseproud wife and two daughters who run rings around him. A very funny series now available on DVD :-D :-D
