*rubbing hands with glee* am the cat that got the cream this afternoon. Years ago I bought some brown Pyrex casserole dishes, and these arent made any more. I found three in the charity shops today, two had lids with them. All bargain prices.
there are some on eBay, but the sellers are in America and want an arm and a leg for their items. I dont even see these Pyrex dishes at the antiques and collectors centres/fairs.
Glee. that reminds me. I could add a tub of Glee to the April 1st shopping list. Just like Elbow Grease !!! :-D :-D :-D :-D

Hello Susan, yes we are basking in more daylight hours now, and the temperature has climbed a little. Oh I dont think Essex Girls mind the weather, as long as there is a midriff to expose.
We have some beaches, such as Brighton and Hastings in Sussex, where the "beach" is just stones and shingle and nary a grain of sand in sight. I have a photo of me being a "Brighton Belle", with my dear late Papa holding my hand, I was a toddler at the time so have no personal memory of the occasion. I've seen pix of glorious sandy beaches in north Scotland, and even the lochs are surounded by sand, but Scotland doesnt actually belong to the British Isles geophysically speaking, it broke away from Canada back when the land mass was called Panginea (however it was spelt), before the tectonic plate movements caused the plates to move away from each other. The British Isles used to be closer to the equator, once. And there was no English Channel, it was a deep valley.
Yep, a long time ago when I was a twinkle in my Papa's eye, people wore their hats and coats and gloves for a day trip to the beach because the wind was often very sharp, and we didnt get the hot humidity in the late summer we now get thanks to global warming. I remember when summers were mostly cool and wet, but you could tell it was summer because the rain wasnt as cold as the winter rain.
have a lovely weekend, y'all, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~to all our readers !

hello Lesley I am glad to hear there is much improvement and hope you continue to mend.
haha fings aint wot they used to be anywhere, be it Romford, Walfamstow, Dalston Lane or Pe''icoat Lane (marke'). Even the cockney sparrers chirp different tah wot they used tah, an' there are fewer ov'em.
apparently, stinging nettle juice is very good for the scalp, once boiled and cooled, but I dont relish the thought of having to collect the nettles in order to boil them! :-S And nettle can be used to make soup.
Just noticed your "interests" - are you related to Minnie Driver????? ;-)

Evening Ladies,
Tis Friday evening, another working week behind me.... It is 6.25pm and already dark :-|. I so don't like this early drawing in of our evenings.... Sadly it is a long long time til things change again. Conversely, I hope you are enjoying more hours of daylight :-).
Petunia, I forgot to comment on your current avatar. What a dear little cherub, must say though, the beach looks a tad uncomfortable. Where is the 'sand'... I have a photgraph of my Mama, her brother, their mother and a neighbour, sitting on a beach somewhere in the UK, all trussed up in coats, shoes and socks and bucket and spades for the children... Ye gads, why bother :-D. At least your picture looks like it was taken in Summer?.
Hello Lesley and Teresa, nice to see you back posting :-). Study, Teresa :-D, that is almost a dirty word to me these days. Tis a long time since I left School, no doubt the teachers cheered as I vacated the premises ;-). All the talk of worms makes me feel ill.... Yuk !!. I get the same feeling when gardening and the spade accidently cuts a worm in half - and both halves wriggle :-S.
I visited the supermarket this afternoon with my fruit - chocolate was on special. I just couldn't help myself :-(... I feel a tad guilty but boy will it taste good :-).
Lesley, my male fruit loves all sorts, sports, music, theatre etc.... My Papa turns 80 a few days after my fruit's 30th. Maybe a joint celebration...
OH and I have bought tickets for us all to attend a Rugby match in June. AB's - France :-D... Not sure my blood pressure can take it, but hey ho, lets go !! Hope we are not left crying into our beer.
I hope Petunia enjoyed her day out? CC, thank you for the geography lesson. I hope Aunty didn't come across 'those' Essex girls?. Mind, it has probably been too cold for them to turn orange, a pale shade of blue do you think?.
I had better get a move on and go and sort out our dinner. I haven't heard from OH so hope he is not too late home tonight... Lunch was a long time ago..
Have a lovely weekend, stay safe,
Susan

Auntie Petunia I hope you are not disappointed with your visit to Romford Market, please remember ...............................................things ain't like they used to be. :-(
The Real CC :-D thank you for your mail. I hope the only worms I have are in the garden. ;-)
Talking of gardens when/if the sun shines I am going to pick and cook some stinging nettles several people including my sister have told me they are delicious, full of vitamins and minerals and very good for you ................................................................................................. I shall see.
Susan what sort of things does your male fruit enjoy?

hello Teresa, not just models, I heard that a famous lady singer with a beautiful voice (who hails from Caerddyth and has been around since the 1950s) used the tape worm method to stay fabulously svelte and slender. Of course this claim may not be true.
I heard that models also use haemorrhoid creams to remove the bags under their eyes. Euchhhh !!

Afternoon Ladies,
All this talk of worms is making me feel decidedly itchy-coooo.
I remember when I was a child in India, there was a worm that got into peoples legs and had to be 'wound out' onto a stick.
Then of course there were the tape worms...........................................................
never eat a raw sausage gels.

it was one of my BCC Multimail/Undisclosed Recipients emails, Petunia dear, so went out to a lot of people - I couldnt put all of them around the table, you dont have enough chairs. The idea is that each person who gets a Multi mail doesnt see the addies of the other recipients.
I dont keep much of a contact list, I prefer to click on Reply to reduce the risk of worms and viruses being passed on, but I hear that some worms are so clever they can perpetuate themselves even without a Contact List.
I've looked on the Net and it seems that Yahoo has been vulnerable to this sort of attack recently, and some people say that they couldnt get into their accounts although they hadnt changed their password. The blighters must be using a very clever computer with lots of combinations to work out passwords. Since I changed my password, I have been able to get in and out of my account. Hopefully the action I took will prevent problems.
And what a good job I never do internet banking, or use a Money package on my computer.
This afternoon was quite pleasantly mild and I did a little pottering in the garden, then I went shopping, and disposed of all the recycling which I prefer to do in person then I am not forever picking it up off the sidewalk where the binmen drop it and leave it.

Good evening Ladies,
Thank you dear Cherry for your timely advice...............but why you could not just sit across the table from me and tell me..............but never mind, I will be doubly careful now. Not that I know anyone in Iraq!
Susan dear, why not have a genteel tea party. A naice pot of Earl Grey, a few Gipsy creams and a fairy cake or two. Then one can play whist or canasta. No? Give me a week or so, and I shall put my thinking cap on.
Teresa dear, I could hear the blaspheming from here. Get the hence Docker, stay away from our dear Teresa!
A little warmer today dears, not quite enough for the parasol, but not bad.............not bad at all.

genuine warning - if you or anyone you know has a Yahoo email account ...
I found an email in my inbox just now, from Yahoo, saying someone had tried to access my email account from the Iraq region. I was invited to click on a link. Just in case this wasnt genuine, I didnt click on the link but I immediately changed my password which was easy enough to do.
These blighters will try anything wont they ..... :-( :-( :-S

*shakes head sadly* oh Teresa, I have told you how to avoid this disappearing act - type it all in a Word doc or Notepad first, on your hard drive, then c&p into the GR reply box. If your text whooshes orf again - you still have it sitting on your hard drive! Seemples! :-D :-D :-D :-D

Ooooh Susan a birthday treat for a young male - you will have your work cut out organising that. Do you think he is old enough for pretty girls leaping out of cakes?? ;-) What is your budget - no, dont tell ME. But, do you have enough of a budget to arrange something like a newly-formed local rock band (who will be grateful for the publicity and a modest fee) to play at a local community room? I guess its too cold still for a BBQ event, or a beach party around a driftwood bonfire? Or a fancy dress party at home where everyone has to attend dressed in clothing from a certain era like all Romans or all 1920s. Or - a come as you are party, where all the guests must attend wearing what they were clothed in at the time they received the telephone call inviting them. That should make for much merriment if someone was luxuriating in a tubful of bubbles !!
Romford is in Essex, if thats any help. Essex is the county up from Kent, going north. Essex is north of the Thames; Kent is South.

To tickle a Frenchmans fancy CC?? :-D..
Combinations - that also conjures up a confusing 'vision' in my minds eye... I haven't even been scratching anything. I do remember a trend while I was at school, a long long time ago of girls wearing 'witches britches' :-D... I bet they were nearly longer than our uniform. Enough of this talk.
Ladies, I need you to put your thinking caps on and supply me outstandingly fabulous ideas for me - I need to organise a '0' birthday treat for my male fruit, there is time, tis not til the year end. I am stuck for ideas :-(. (psst, tis 30 :-S). I will get his blister in on the act, hopefully she will have fab ideas too.
Do have a lovely time in Romford Petunia, I have no idea where that is but hazard a guess Kent? Don't ask me why, Kent just sprang to mind. My geography knowledge of your fair Isle is somewhat lax :-(. How will you travel there?
~~~~ to the missing Teresa and Lesley :-). Hope all is well with you and yours?.
OH has a young niece set to leave our shores tomorrow to travel by herself through Asia, we have begged her to stay safe and not take any undue risk. These young people are far more adventurous than I ever was. I envy them I must admit. Please send positive vibes her way :-).
Time for my dinner - has been a long time since lunch :-(.
Have a lovely day ladies
but Petunia dear I have not placed an order with the River Company lately, apart from the little ornament I purchased on Sunday night but this has not been delivered yet - so I dont know whose those packages might be for.
Has Pat rish aaaaaah been ordering unsuitable items perhaps?
It is amazing what can be purchased from the River Company - why, I was searching for a telescopic ostrich feather duster and came across the little white dusters that accompany French maid outfits, skimpy things they were too (the outfits), and I dont know why French maids have to have little white dusters. Does anyone know? ;-)
I do assure you dear that you will not uncover any salacious or even delicious gossip that involves myself. I have always been as pure as the driven snow, apart from the occasional drifts but even these were whitewashed. The rest of it is just scurrilous rumour best swept under the fireside rug. Nothing was ever proved. In any case, it was a long time ago and there were no witnesses. :-D :-D :-D :-D
