Aunty, no heat wave has arrived here :-(. We shall live in hope....
How is the knitting coming along?. I used to knit many moons ago. I don't think I could be bothered now.. As you know, many sheep, much wool. Just, I don't want to buy any... I could send you some of the finest merino wool down the cyber hatch ?.
I took a tumble in the garden a few nights ago and banged my shin on a brick wall. My but it hurt.. I think I may have said a naughty word. :-D. Made my eyes smart too. Hope the neighbours weren't listening at the fence, :-S.
Last night I was watching an episode of Phil & Kirsty house searching. Aunty, I thought I saw the Home for Old Soldiers on the screen. The hosts visited a place called The Mission, it was in Limehouse or something similar..... I got very interested but didn't see any old soldiers, sailors or any old men come to think of it.... I must say I do like the opportunity to 'visit' the homes of others...
I have a question : why oh why are there so many Cordyline's in gardens in the UK. We call them Cabbage Tree's. They are a native here. They are also a pain and can be very messy. I am amazed at just how often I spy them via my tv screen....
Time to get my skates on again, hope all the little babies are doing well and those nearly here are growing like mushrooms. :-)

My dear Ladies, how are we all?
I must say I have been knitting furiously for the dear little M, born to Lesley's family. No matter the circumstances dear, a new baby is always a blessing. And born at Christmas too! Was that a 'sign' dear? May one please have a pm. with the name dear? One does not expect you to announce it to all and sundry! Tutty tu!
Are you experiencing the heat-wave from the Aunty-podes dear Upsidedown Susan? Our little Scot with the tennis raquet managed to play in the shade, but others have wilted. Has the balmy weather managed to cross over to you?
It has been jolly cold here today. One does not know where the draught is coming from, but one jolly well knows where it is going! An extra shawl around my shoulders I think.
We have a local radio station here, with a suitable name, and there is a most patronising advert on it. I head it whilst in the scullery, when dear little Holly was listening to it. It suggests putting on an extra cardi, and keep drinking hot drinks to keep warm! Would it not be kinder to make the utilities cheaper? #stands on soap box!!!!#
I think our dear Theresa is working hard as usual, and being our angel in blue.
Keep well and warm dears. Or in Susan's case, be cool.
#I almost sounded like being down with the kids then....................whatever that means#

Yohoo,
We seem to be slipping into oblivion :-D...
Lesley, I haven't tackled the scones yet. I think that is a job for Saturday. I need to invest in fresh baking powder. I bake so rarely these days (so I can't eat the results).... My fruit often donates her efforts to OH and I :-), why would I bother..
**** grabs megaphone and yells to the wind **** : Ladies, where are you???

My Dear Auntie Petunia and Ladies that take high tea,
Once upon a time there was a fairly normal respectful family that had three female fruits. The eldest fruit made her parents feel very proud to be grandparents. The second fruit said I'm out of here>>>>>>>>>>>>I've booked time off work and I'm going backpacking in Thailand for a month as from February 7th. And the third fruit bought her parents, sibling fruits and family the biggest surprise/shock ever..............baby M.
Teresa with regards to your fruits job hunting have you heard there is to be a Simply Food store opening opposite the village you frequent, it's going next/near to Next not next to Next outlet, the store should be open in March so I guess recruitment will start soon.
I hope your scones turn out well Susan, have you ever had a cream tea in the in the West Country UK?

What was in your teacup Teresa ?,
It was me that went to High tea - not Lesley ;-). It was quite delightful, a lovely three tiered offering... I did taste the nicest scone I have ever had. I asked for the recipe so will now try and re create said scone... Wish me luck :-D. No doubt I will need it, scones have never been my forte'..
Tis Monday morning again, that means off to work I go.. Best get my skates on.
Have a pleasant evening,
Susan

Petunia,
Lovely to see you back and to hear you have everything running tickety boo at the Towers :-). Wish I could enjoy the lovely smells wafting from the kitchen...
**** whispers to Petunia, I think the stork gave Lesley a surprise for Christmas... a very delightful surprise in fact.
The sun is shining upon us - for the moment.. Thursday evening we had such a hail storm.. I took a photo to prove it. The lawn was white with hail... It is January for heavens sake :-(.. I have never heard such loud thunder either.. The pup was not very amused :-D.
Fruit and I are orf to take Mama to High Tea and the flicks :-). A three generational day out.. Must take the camera. I must try not drop crumbs in my lap while out to tea :-\..
Have a lovely weekend,

Ladies, I do hope you are all well. It amuses me that dear Upsidedown Susan is still one day ahead of us, and our today, is her yesterday.........................I think that is right!
Well, I think we are all back to normal now chez Motie Towers. I have got Pat-trish-aaaaah toiling away with the housework. How does so much dust accumulate when there is no-one there?
Mrs Berry and dear little Cherry are baking away in the kitchen, and the smell of freshly baked bread is wafting its way upstairs.
All the parties have been and gawn, and now we are in the process of fund raising again for the Old Soldiers and Sailors Home. Alas dear Lavinia did not leave that much in her Will for the upkeep, and we will have to do a few jumble sales and the like to maintain the gentlemen in general niceties.
The rain still keeps on araining, and we are all beginning to get webbed feet. I feel for the people living in the South-West, they are having a cruel time.
I look forward to seeing you again dear Susan. I hope your plans of the UK go smoothly.
Lesley dear, is that dear little E. in the new avatar? Whoever it is, it is beauty.
Teresa, just you and me working then? We must have been horrid in a previous life!
I am trying harder in this one!

Thanks Ladies,
I have been doodling away and am even more enamoured of the area. :-). I fancy a ride on the Finicular...
The weather god has gone mad today. We have just had the second dumping of hail today.... Supposed to be summer. :-(. Mind you, I saw pictures today on the Internet of Niagara Falls partially frozen... Madness !!.
Oooh, Lesley, I like your new avatar :-). What a sweetie.
We have had the Insurance assessor in today. Looks like we are in for repairs to the cabinetry and floor... :-D.. I think I fancy a change in flooring - wonder if I can swing Oh to my way of thinking ;-). Time will tell.

Morning Ladies,
I am feeling a little sore this morning... Yesterday I tackled the lawn with the mower... Not as fit as I should be it would seem. This morning Fruit, pup and I took a constitutional... now I have an achy hip :-P. Who ever said exercise is good for you wants a slap :-D.
Petunia, I do hope all is well with you and yours now. Ooh, another baby, how lovely :-). February ?, not too long to wait then.
Lesley, sorry I missed your SOS call, but all is well again as Aunty is back :-). How are the babies in your family doing?.
My fruit has a friend with a new baby. The poor lad has been saddled with a most unusual name :-(. One does have to wonder about these new age parents.... I see a lifetime of 'explaining' for the lad..
I am off for a blood test this morning... I am not a great fan of needles, there are two women at the lab, one's method seems to hurt less than the other's does... Technique perhaps?.. Why does it seem you are being bled dry when in fact such a small amount of blood is taken?...
Ladies, have you ever been to Porlock ?. I have been perusing my map book and I have taken a fancy to Porlock. I fancy a night there while on my road trip with Mama.. I do remember OH and I passing through in 2012. The town looked really nice. I must mention I have no intention of going on a ramble :-D, just a quiet little walk around the town will suit Mama and I quite naicley ;-).
Best get on, the clock is telling me I am running late..
Have a lovely evening

Bonjour, bonjour!
Put away the tuk-tuk dears. If you have not yet reached Dover...........turn back!
I am afraid we have had some illness in the family dears, and that is the reason for my absence. We had someone who had hospital treatment dears, and it was a little worrying. But all is well now, and I can get back to my good works.
But first of all....................A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL. I would say it in French, but that would seem like showing off. And you know me dears, a meek, mild, mature woman, who does things without a thought for getting recognised in the media, and does not need thanks. Although I must say I was surprised that I was not in the New Years Honours List dears, it must have got lorst in the post.
I hope you had a lovely New Year with your nearest and dearest, and all is well with you.
As you suspected Lesley dear, the airwaves around where we were staying were a little wavy to say the least. The reception was very hit and miss.
However, we had a lovely Christmas with George, Francine and dear little Valentine, and of course Francines' parents put us up. Or put up with us, if you like.
And.............as I suspected dear little Valentine is to have a sister in February. I must say that George is a stickler for timing. He always brings the car around on time!
We are to be heading back to Blighty in a couple of hours dears, and open the windows of Motie Towers to let in the New Year, and also a bit of fresh air. The house has been locked up for the duration, and will probably need a bit of Airwick to get the air circulating again.
Watch out for the news dears, we are not sailing, but flying back, no doubt there will be a reception party at the airport when I return!
By the by, if any of our little silent peepers would like to join us this year, I can assure them, they will be welcomed into the fold.
My felicitations to you all dears, and I will return to regale you all in yer actual English toot sweet!
Yours, as ever Auntie Petunia
