Apart from getting a little dusty, the stocktake is done..... :-|. Thank goodness it is a job done only once a year.

Lesley, my fruit 'is' blooming, getting kicked around and feeling a little queasy when junior draws decides to do cartwheels :-D. Fruit and her OH are starting to prepare the nursery. I wonder what the dog will think of the new arrival. ;-). I hope your little bundles are both well.?

Cup cake for weddings seem to be all the rage these days. I have a friend of a friend who decorates cake, these clever people are definitely 'artistes' in my opinion. An amazing talent to have. We shall look forward to your eloquent description of 'the' days proceedings Petunia.. You have such a turn of phrase. :-) :-).

We are preparing ourselves for the Royal visit to our shores.. Not that we are anywhere near any of the proceedings but rest assured, our televisions, radio and print medias will be full of stories.. I did like the latest photo of the little Prince, looking intently into the royal pooch's eyes. :-). I do remember well, the little baby William accompanying his parents down under. Do you think baby G is the spit of his Papa as a baby.?..

I am awaiting the plumber to repair a pipe that was damaged after our flood, the builder is yet to come and replace the kickboards and the flooring is yet to be done though I have a firm date for that. April 7th in fact. Oh and I are away this weekend so I have the task of emptying the kitchen again, hopefully for the last time...Lucky for us Rome wasn't built in a day. ;-).

I have been for my constitutional this morning with the pup. It is so dark in the mornings, no way I would walk by myself at 6.30am. I feel a tad protected with the pup alongside. It was very foggy this morning so we gave the park a miss... I didn't feel quite so brave with the fog. :-D. Pup was a bit put out but it was not she holding the lead. ;-).

Time to knock up today's sarnies, fruit has provided us with two slabs of cake. :-).

Toodle pip,

Susan

yippee, Plumber has arrived, one step forward.

Good evening dear Ladies, the warmth of the Summer breeze on Saturday has done me a power of good.

Indeed tis April 1st tomorrow, I too will have to be careful out there in the Big Wide World.

A photo doing the rounds of our dear Teresa? Do send it to me dear, how else will I recognise you when I deign to visit your neck of the woods?

The wedding preparations are in full swing. They are having little cupcakes instead of a big wedding cake, how very modern!

I am preparing to watch a very sinister programme tonight at 9pm, about a wife killer. Something light to send me off to sleep. Ho hum!

Take care all

Hello Girls,

Sorry you are a bit under the weather Petunia, what a nuisance. I agree with Teresa's advice, hot lemon and honey.. :-).

Blow me down , it is March 31st already, the days are flying by it would seem. Tomorrow will be April fools day :-D, I shall have to be on my guard... I don't just need one day of the year :-(.

The sun is out but there is quite a chill in this mornings air.. The leaves are on the turn, oh dear. We haven't yet lit our fire, hopefully that is a way off yet. I may have to put on an extra layer this morning...

It is the end of the financial year today for many here, that means the dreaded stocktake, a job I detest :-P. A busy day ahead of me so I shall take myself off and ready myself for the day ahead.

Good evening dear Ladies [and those who peep!]

I have been out and about a great deal this week, and I have to report that on one of more occasion, my clothes have not been suitable for the cold wind that has been whistling around my poor old back. I think I have been chilled dears.

Suddenly I have developed a cough, and a tickle which keeps me awake at night!

However, as you know I do not touch the Demon Drink, so any advice on taking medicinal brandy is not on the cards.

Beattie is all of a flutter, and I think we are less than a month away from the Nuptials. She is taking it all very much to heart, and the poor gel has been swept off her feet. Thank goodness Millie is more down to earth, and is organising things with military precision.

Beattie is still unsure who is to take her up the aisle, but I dare say we can rope in George. You remember George! With Francine, dear little Valentine and Celestine! Of course you do! They are visiting over the Easter period, and George being the dear boy that he is, is bound to come to the rescue. We may even try to get dear little Valentine to be a ring-bearer. On second thoughts, the dear little thing puts everything in his mouth, so maybe not.

I do hope you are all well dears, tis going to be a bit warmer this weekend, so maybe we can take off our liberty bodices en masse!

I wish you all a lovely weekend gels, see you next week.

Good evening Ladies,

I am typing this and watching University Challenge with my other eye! I do so like to try and answer some of the questions. Now and again, I do get one right. Usually questions on religion! That is what comes to going to a Church School. Amazing what goes in, is it not?

I cannot fathom the popular beat combo Teresa dear, a little less of the cryptic clues would be favourable dear. Mr Jet Black? No, got me there dear.

I am pleased that we will be going to tea-rooms dear, silver service? One has a horror of Withypoons. But needs must when the, whatever! Do they do cucumber sandwiches dear? With the crusts cut orft?

Aaaaah, dear Susan, I have seen one of those scans dear. I could recognise the head, and a huge eye, but the rest looked a little muzzy to me. Must change my pince nez! I imagine you are thrilled to bit, and rightly so.

There seem to be so little in the marriage stakes these days. No one bothers! However, Beattie has been shopping with Millie and they both came back with outfits. And no black eyes, so they are still getting along famously.

Beattie is in Eau de Nil, and Millie will wear a pale apricot. Both pastels dear, you you are right about the paler colours being in vogue!

Both will wear fascinators, and will have clutch bags and satin shoes dyed to match the dresses. They are flappping around like giggling schoolgels. So I am very pleased for them both.

I think a little piece of china would suit them if you are intending to buy a present dears. Nothing fancy, Beattie is a great one for nick-nacks, so maybe something from the back pages of a television listing magazine would suit.

Lesley is on the missing list, so we may have to send our search parties very soon.

Morning all,

The scan was only 2D but quite clear :-)... At some points I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at :-D, but I have a lovely little photo of babies head, torso and arms - yes, it does have legs too ;-). Everything is where it should be so that is a great relief. My fruit had a bad day yesterday with feeling ill, junior draws was doing cartwheels so I wonder if fruit wasn't feeling a little motion sickness :-D, whatever it was, she couldn't eat a roast dinner and had to opt for soup :-S....

Petunia, I do like that Mr Nighy, perhaps he would like to visit the tearoom with us?... I watched him in fruits dvd of Love Actually...or I think it was that movie..

I trust the wedding arrangements are falling into place.?. Have you sorted out an outfit yet.?. I am going to recycle my MOB dress in May, we have a formal function to attend for work. :-D..

Ladies, I had a catastrophe on Saturday afternoon, my wedding ring finally wore through, it split right across the band..... We are to go shopping for a new band in a couple of weeks when we visit the big smoke... I am currently wearing my grandmothers engagement ring which my Mama gave me a few weeks ago, this grandmother died in about 1933. <3.

Time to knock up a few sandwiches - again :-(, have a pleasant evening.

Good evening dear Ladies,

Susan dear, it must be Friday for you already. How lovely to be able to 'see' the new addition to your family. Ah yes dear, our babies grow, and then have babies of their own. Tis called Life dear. And a wonderful thing it is too. The miracle of birth never ceases to amaze me dear. Such a truly wonderous thing.

A young man I know, when seeing a scan on a television, called out to his Mama, 'Mum.....................that lady is having a Cheeto!' Such was the love for the corn based cheesy snack at that time. We did titter a little, but told him never to express that comment outside the confines of his own house!

Yes, we are indeed to have the Wedding on Easter Sunday. The Ladies of the Church and I are working on the flower arrangements as I speak. We will have lots of lovely spring flowers to welcome the Happy Couple.

Beattie is non-plussed about becoming a step-mother. She thinks bringing up a child is no harder than looking after a dog. I told her that if she really thinks that, she is in for a big shock. They have hit it off so well, they are going Wedding Apparel shopping together. So no clashing with colours. I somehow dont think that Beattie will be wearing white.

I will make this do for now gels, I am primping and preening to watch that naice Mr Nighy later on tonight. He lives around the corner to me dontcha know!

Another wedding Petunia, how naice. Where and when Cupid decides to fling his arrow is any ones guess. I hope you are privy to the arrangements?. Will there be a pre nup?, one must protect ones interests you know. ;-).

We shall expect a blow by blow report on proceedings you know.. Easter Sunday you say, you will have to check hands and mouths for traces of chocolate... Can't have mucky faces at the altar. :-D...

Is Beattie looking forward to being a step mama :-D?.

Ladies, on Friday I am to be privy to a very special event - a 'scan' none the less, of my fruits tum ;-). It is all a bit surreal, how can my baby be having her very own baby.... ( I know 'how') but I mean 'how', she was but a babe in arms just a few years ago...
By the by, Sunday is fruits first anniversary. <3. Where oh where did that year go... jiminy cricket.. I am feeling me age...

Well, no Stones for us for a bit. RIP Miss Scott.... We are to hold on to our tickets in the meantime... I hope the concert isn't rescheduled for June :-(, c'est la vie !

Time to knock up a few sarnies and face the working day. have a pleasant evening.

Ladies, Ladies...........................ahem....................I have an announcement to make. Stand by your beds.

Beatrice and the Captain are to be married on Easter Sunday. Yes, yes, I know it is quick, but when you get to our age dears, there is no need for delay.

Beattie went to tea on Sunday, as I told you, and The Daughter was there. Millicent Fortescue, that is a name to wrap your tongue around!

It turns out they have a common interest in brass-rubbings, and Millie [!] was producing yards of paper with rubbings on them of her ancestors. Well Beattie was in her element, and promised to take Millie to a very naice little chapel she knows, where she is SURE there is a Fortescue reclining under the aisle of the church. Much merriment followed, along with a port or two, and dear Captain popped the question! Beattie needed no prompting as she was quite obviously smitten, and they phoned the Vicar there and then.

So Easter Sunday it is. Make a note in your diaries dears.

Luckily I have a bonnet that I brought back from France with me. A pretty little pink straw number with flowers around the brim.

Now what does one buy a Captain and a widow for a Wedding Present?

Good evening Ladies, I hope you had a good a day as I did. The sun was shining merrily, and it was an ideal opportunity to produce the new fan that I brought back from Francais when I visited dear George and Francine. It is white bone, with a black ostrich feather edging. Racy yet sedate and quite stylish.

Church was a joyous occasion this morning, even though it is Lent, we sang uplifting hyms, Morning Has Broken, All Things Bright and Beautiful [again] and Jerusalem [my favourite, I always sing descant]. The dear little children from Sunday School came to join us, and we sang merrily and raised the roof. Not too much though, as it need fixing, and we cannot affort it just yet. A few weeks ago, we had metal buckets in the aisles to catch the drips. As the bucket filled it made musical notes to accompany us. Such fun until it came time to empty them!

Beatrice is to take tea with Captain Fortescue this evening. Captain's daughter is to be chaperone, and a right harridan she is! She could kill a cat with her stare. If she does not put poor Beattie off her sandwiches, then I dont know what will. I must say she and the Captain do seem smitten with each other, and they do make a lovely couple. But is it proper at their age? I suppose it will mean that Beattie will have someone to play cards with, rather than playing Solitaire all the time! Time will tell dears, as to whether I need to buy a new hat.

Lesley how is your fruit? Is she safely back in the boooosum of her family, regaling you with tales of her travels? I hope that she did not bring back too much washing for you to do.

Yes please do Teresa, find a naice tea-rooms to entertain your friends. Maybe we may partrake of a little elderflower wine too? I am sure you will organise it well dears. You have a few weeks to sort out the arrangements.

Susan dear, I do hope you enjoyed your weekend. You are probably at work by now.

No Midwife tonight as it has ended. However, I do indeed to see that naice Harry lad with his regimental chums. It will be revealing I feel. He seems a naice young man.

Orft to wash my face in a bowl of morning dew gathered earlier. I like to prepare myself for bed in the early evening, any later and I will wake myself up!

Oh this is a quick edit, for I have just had the pigeon fly in the window with a message taped to its leg.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR TERESA. may you have a lovely, lovely day with your gentleman walker, and your fruits. MANY HAPPY RETURNS DEAR.

Susan, hello dear, I hope you are participating fully whilst watching Midwife. You will need towels, torn-up sheets and plenty of hot water.

A metal bedstead so that the poor mum to be can hold onto, and of course a woodspoon to stifle the screams. I think that just about covers everything. Oh yes, a tin bowel to catch the baby in!

I must say our series has just ended, and it always leaves me in tears as the credits roll. I cannot say I am a fan of Ms Hart, but I do like her in Midwife. The ladies Agutter and Parfitt are a treat. Nice to see more mature actresses getting their teeth into a part.

I have had Georgianna and Octavia to tea today. Mrs Berry did her famous Victoria Sponge, and dear little Holly made the sandwiches. I think someone should tell the child that cucumber needs to be cut across, not the length of the fruit. However, she is only young, and nothing a birching will not cure. Tutty tut.

We held a Meeting today to discuss poor Beattie, she is becoming too friendly with Captain Fortescue. She is no gold digger, and he is a nice enough chap, but has he the staying power to keep up with her? She is very physical, always tickling something. Ivories, the flute, and bowing her cello. We will have to wean her off said Captain without making it obvious. Oh dear, I think we are all getting a bit too old for this lark!

Any suggestions dears would be greatly appreciated.

Auntie P
