If you are uncertain about dying your hair, you could consider a Colour Wash at the hairdressers.

It lasts about 3 months and gradually fades/washes out so no 'roots' to worry about :-D

I have been struggling with the 'going grey' for a couple of years. I am dark, but fair-skinned, and the really dark brown shades now are too harsh (skin tone does change with agee too). I use an ash brown semi-permanent but even that is a bit too much sometimes! I am a 'winter' colour and reds/coppers in my hair are a no-no, a lot of hair dyes fade out to reddish colours and they just look awful on me. I really would be best to let it go grey, but I just find it a bit ageing at the mo :-D.

I have now stopped dyeing, as it had started fading to ginger each time, now the grey outweighs the brown but its fine.

I saw Ann Widdecombe on the news yesterday, she was silver and suited her much better than the blond.

Mine is salt 'n pepper, used to have highlights but cannot sit still for that long now...lolol

I did get a shock when I stopped having it lighlighted when I saw my hair in bright sunlight in the car mirror and thought "who the hell is that old bird?" but I'm used to it now.

I see oldies with amazing coloured streaks and do like that look but my hair is kept very short so I'd look daft... :-D

Like Shirley~~I have a pale skin and look totally washed out if I leave my hair eau natural for too long. I was lucky that the Mature blonde didn't start until I was 50 and being an ash blonde the colour change when I first hit the bottle was not that noticeable.

I use a permanent colour that lasts me 6-8wks & have always done it myself, there are usually offers available 2 for 1 etc so it doesn't break the bank, and for the lift it gives me well worth it.

At a party I spotted an old friend of mine whom I hadn't seen for years most impressed with her thick silver hair and wondered how she had managed to cover her previous red, then her sister told me it was natural.

So for many it works but not for me
:-D :-D

I am blonde but my fringe has turned silver, in the summer sun the rest of my hair goes a lot lighter. A funny family 'cos my brother is deep red and my sister a gingery blonde.

My hair since I was 43 is ginger and I have 2 wings just above my ears that are white through shock.went white overnight.

Used to dye it but haven't bothered for about 6 months now..but I can't decide wether to start dying it back to Auburn and colouring the white wings..

I was born with red hair which thankfully turned to platinum blonde very quickly and stayed that way until my teens when it started to go darker - then resorted to highlights, then low lights, and then they didn't show anymore so I've just gone naturally sort of silvery whiteish - I call it fair, my friend calls it grey - I hate her!!!!

I had jet black hair, with dark olive skin.
Started going grey when I was 28, started dying it in my 30's.
When it was short, in my40's, I let it go 'au naturel' - it looked horrible, all patchy, and made my (paler) skin look awful.
My skin's faded even more now, my hair's long (put it up in a 'tucked in' french plait) and I used a colour remover about 2 months ago.
That was novel. The longer bits are dark and it pales as it goes up, with the top a light brown.
Got highlights put in, and when the white started showing again, put a semi-permanent blonde on!!
I now have multi-coloured hair (which I love) , but am aiming to remove all colour.
More high/low lights in first week of August in preparation for my daughter's wedding!! :-D

I don't mind that my hair is going grey, the texture/wiriness of the grey hair is another thing and I really don't like that :-(
