Well I am a bit disgruntled, me. When I saw the thread title my little heart skipped a beat. I thought that Prickles had found a cure for my insomnia :-D ;-) <3

Julia Report 9 Jul 2012 16:18

What I meant Mau was that, in the light of Prickles getting her post RR'd, because someone didn't have any sense of humour, if I had put it up, it probably would have been RR'd also, because it was me that had posted it. Not that I think it should be RR'd.

Just to add....something else dad's shouldn't do :-0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

When Father Papered the Parlour

Our parlor wanted papering, and Pa says it was waste
To call a paperhanger in, and so he made some paste.
He bought some rolls of paper, got a ladder and a brush
And with my mummy's nightgown on, at it he made a rush.

When Father papered the parlour you couldn't see him for paste
Dabbing it here! dabbing it there! paste and paper everywhere
Mother was stuck to the ceiling the children stuck to the floor
I never knew a blooming family so 'stuck up' before.

The pattern was 'blue roses' with its leaves red, white, and brown;
He'd stuck it wrong way up and now, we all walk upside down.
And when he trimm'd the edging off the paper with the shears,
The cat got underneath it, and dad cut off both its ears.

When Father papered the parlour you couldn't see him for paste
Dabbing it here! dabbing it there! paste and paper everywhere
Mother was stuck to the ceiling the children stuck to the floor
I never knew a blooming family so 'stuck up' before.

Soon dad fell down the stairs and dropp'd his paperhanger's can
On little Henrietta sitting there with her young man,
The paste stuck them together, as we thought t'would be for life,
We had to fetch the parson in to make them man and wife.

When Father papered the parlour you couldn't see him for paste
Dabbing it here! dabbing it there! paste and paper everywhere
Mother was stuck to the ceiling the children stuck to the floor
I never knew a blooming family so 'stuck up' before.

We're never going to move away from that house any more
For Father's gone and stuck the chairs and table to the floor,
We can't find our piano, though it's broad and rather tall,
We think that it's behind the paper Pa stuck on the wall.

When Father papered the parlour you couldn't see him for paste
Dabbing it here! dabbing it there! paste and paper everywhere
Mother was stuck to the ceiling the children stuck to the floor
I never knew a blooming family so 'stuck up' before.

Now, Father's sticking in the pub, through treading in the paste,
And all the family's so upset, they've all gone pasty faced.
While Pa says, now that Ma has spread the news from north to south,
He wishes he had dropped a blobof paste in Mother's mouth.

When Father papered the parlour you couldn't see him for paste
Dabbing it here! dabbing it there! paste and paper everywhere
Mother was stuck to the ceiling the children stuck to the floor
I never knew a blooming family so 'stuck up' before.

Never heard of it which is why I did not think it was a suitable lullaby.

Which is why I think it should have mentioned the words were from a Tommy Cooper song then perhaps it would not have been sent for review

could be my Spelling, should go to Specksavers and get a pair of specs like the ones on your avatar :-D :-D :-D.but if I remember correctly,he committed, what some people objected to on here, and there is another song title which mentions it. :-D :-D :-D ;-) Either way it sounds the same when spoken except when introduced on the TV. it was much faster. ;-)

hahaha Prickly. My OH's first visit to Scotland was hilarious!

I joked with him that I'd have to translate. He laughed, said he wouldn't have any problem because he understood my Mother and he watched Taggart.

Oh Aye! Just you wait laddie! He laughed again.

First episode was him not understanding the man in the service station on the way to my rellies. I translated.

Second episode was with my Scottish family. Everybody talking at once, getting faster and faster. OH staring at me............ what? OH laughing at me.......... I can't understand a word you're saying! lolol

I left Scotland when I was 12. I was in my mid thirties when OH & I went to Scotland. It took me five minutes to start talking Scottish again.

:-D

GlitterBaby Report 9 Jul 2012 13:10

Unfortunately the bit posted did not come across as a lullaby or a bit of comic lyrics.

Perhaps there should have been mention of Tommy Cooper in the posting.
