The Moors murders happened before I was even born yet I have grown up knowing their hated names, and I have witnessed equally vile court cases for crimes against children, yet I ask you without googling can anyone remember the name of the vile nursey teacher tired and found gulity for abusing young children in her care no more than 3 years ago because I can't, in the mid eighies another vile child molester served just 15 years for the same evil crimes against children he abused and killed at least 4 boys can anyone remember his name?

just read the rest of the comments on here and agree whole heartedly with...............

I wonder how many mothers like me are of the opinion that if we had just a short while with this excuse for a human being, we would get that poor boy's location out of him. But I forgot. It would be against his human rights.

I remember the murders of those children was in my teens .to think anybody .could take a childs life. what those two did was the most evil act .hanging isnt the answer its to quick .hope he is having a very painfull end .you deserve it Brady

In Brady's case keeping him alive serves a purpose as he's determined to die...to the extent that he's been on hunger strikes for over 10 yrs.........good let him live like that for as long as possible....in fact.......put him in a hairshirt and tie him up to a chair facing a wall for all i care...just make sure he's in HELL on earth which is where he belongs.

I am not pro or anti death penalty..........but would like it considered in SOME cases...especially now with DNA where crimes can be proven far more these days....but take on board it isn't going to happen probably ever.

Crimes against children particularly curl my toes......20 yrs ago i'd have said hang him.......but we've gone this far with him........let him live like this til the bitter end...worth every penny if he's suffering. x

I have to agree with Lynda and Eldricks post, and I personally feel people bleating on about being Brandy being kept in the lap of luxury by the tax payer almost laughable, although I agree with most Brandy is lower than a worms belly, he has wanted to die for years and has been force fed I cant see the luxury in that.

Thank god the days of lynch mobs are long gone.

I Just have this incredible sense of deja vu here ... this topic was on the boards when I joined, popped up quite often for the first couple of years... faded away , and is now back.

And those for, and those against, are still as far apart, and the arguments ( including my own ) are the same.

I also resent the inference that because I find the death penalty abhorrent then I'm letting my heart rule my head. Where does this constant idea that people in prison lead the life of riley come from? The thought of losing my freedom for the rest of my life is terrifying - I value my freedom highly. What do they get that makes their lives so wonderful on the inside?

Capital Punishment has no place in a civilised society. Killing people for revenge or punishment is not civilised. There is no debate or argument over this - it is simply barbaric in this modern age to use state sanctioned euthanasia on any human being, no matter what they have done.

Would any proponent of capital punishment be prepared to carry out the act themselves? Yes? Well, that should really disqualify them from the job and ensure they spent the rest of their lives in a secure room somewhere with a high fence and barbed wire round it.

Having read the autobiography of albert Pierpoint and another hangman whose name I can't remember,I think I would rather be hanged than spend years in prison.

I find the comment 'Sometimes I get the feeling that some people let their hearts rule their heads and forget about the heinousness of the crimes that were committed.', which i assume is aimed at people like me who are against the death penalty, extremely patronising. I am not a bleeding heart, I despise these people too, furthermore I do not give a toss how much it does and doesn't cost. Nothing will bring the dead back, whether the victims of the crime or the wrongly convicted.
I would not have blamed the parents of these children if thy had killed Brady or Hindley given the chance. I would have done the same (heart definitely ruling the head I suppose). But it's a whole different thing for the state to kill people off.

People advocate extreme hardship in prisons. Fine,but you must remember that somebody has to be there to run the prison and,if there is no further punishment that can be enforced there is no control over the inmates.

What happened to hard labour? Forget the comfort.

I have to agree with Island in as much as........where there is life (I am referring to the dirty, filthy, sewage rat who's name i don't care to mention!!) there is always hope for the mother of Keith Bennett to find where her precious son was buried.

It is never going to happen but how ever much it has cost...........i would never have wanted that poor woman to have lost the hope that just maybe, someday.................

I don't agree with hanging per se, but in the case of the likes of Hindley and Brady I make an exception - they were intrinsically evil to the core along with a fair few others

Having lived along the road from Pentonville Prison, in the 1950's, I remember the hangings there, I was only small, but remember the times vividly. Just before the hour of hanging, there was an eerie atmosphere, the house would be quiet, as would the streets, nobody spoke, and the clock would be watched, heads were bowed, and it remained that way until word got back that the hanging had taken place. Of course there is also those who were hung and should not have been, you can't bring them back.

Looking back, I can still "feel" those times, and it is something that I cannot put into words, but I'm glad there is no death penalty, to me it is barbaric, Brady & Hindley and the likes are scum, but somehow, killing them would feel wrong, I'd rather they suffered living with the demons that invade there heads, they must of visited them, and for all you hear about how easy prison is, remember you can't walk out.

she deserved the life i have had a hubby kids grandchildren
the ups and downs of every day life
they cut that short robbed her and the other children of their precious lives

sorry but i despise Ian Brady and Myra Hintley :-( :-(
