Muffy, perhaps you should go to the Docs. and get some blood pressure tablets, if, after reading the first one, you decide to read the other two. LOLOL

Happy Reading

Well I've just read some of the reviews on Amazon, and do think if the author uses the phrase "inner goddess " 65 times then it will be an incredibly irritating read if nothing else :-D

Writing good sex is very difficult, and from the quotes mentioned in reviews this is proof of that lol.

I think I will stick with Bill Bryson, he makes me laugh :-D

I never got as far as the actual acts - but could guess what was coming to a certain extent - not that I have knowledge of BDSM I hasten to add, but had I known that was the content I would never have fallen for the hype as I know I would not have liked it

I know nothing of the Twilight books - I like Deirdre Purcell, Alexander McCall Smith and Bill Bryson and Tom Sharpe

Yes, Twilight is the vampire thingy, that was made into a film, the first of a few.

I've heard that 50 shades of grey is fanfiction, loosely based on Twilight, but involving BDSM instead of vampires.

The following was posted on another website, take from it what you will.

Can't believe there are still people who don't know 50 Shades of Grey is a Twilight fanfic reprinted with the names changed.

I think frankly that everyone involved in bringing it before the public in the guise of a legitimate original work should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves - I don't mean the readers duped by the hype, as everyone is suckered by hype sometimes, and I am definitely not dissing the content for being sexual, but for being unoriginal, unbelievably badly written and misguided about the sexual universe it claims to describe.

It's plagiaristic, endangers the fanfic community (especially if Stephenie Meyer ever wakes up and takes action), and it's utter shite.

And as BDSM goes, it is utterly and criminally irresponsible, both for failing to use the most elementary safety precautions and for dissing BDSM as sadism, which it bloody ISN'T. I'm not in that world myself, but I have friends who are... and I lost a colleague to it a few years ago, to self-strangulation.

My views are admittedly based on the fanfic, which I read a while ago, but I gather that the 'book' is 86% the same as the fanfic, and that most of those changes are name-changes (Bella is Ana, Edward is Christian).

What cheered me up is the emerging parody - 51 Shades... Google for it.

Not that any of it should prevent you reading it, you may just enjoy it. From a review in the Guardian, I think, she goes on a lot about her inner goddess.

I have to say I consider myself broad minded HOWEVER I was once a member of a book group and another member suggested a book from the *erotica* section as their choice that month.

Am somewhat ashamed to admit i only managed to get to chapter 3 without being a bit.............put off........lol..but hey..some have said they've found it enlightening sooooooooooo as i don't like being a *don't know* I've just downloaded it............just a case of psyching myself up now to read it lol x

AnnCardiff Report 8 Jun 2012 23:34

you're gonna get them for sure - that's if you're into bondage and sado masochism and the like!!!

in the reviews apparently couples who had been married for years were saying how the book had rekindled their sex lives - well good for them I say but I would have thought it would have made them celibate

I'll never believe reviews again

I bought the trilogy from Amazon - started the first one - Fifty Shades of Grey and thought, hmmm - this is steamy, but then it got far too graphic even for me - I don't mind a bit of rumpy pumpy but beieve me - this goes far too far and I am very broad minded - so now I have three books I ain't gonna read!!!

I've ordered that* filthy* book everyone is talking about.

50 shades of grey

I've heard mixed reviews of it...some have given it up as pure filth...some have said it's fantastic and has made them think about control issues.

So I've decided to see for myself what' it's all about.

*gulps*

I may be gone a while
