I enjoyed it mainly but I think Cheryl was a mistake as she can't sing in tune, or even approaching the tune. Same with little Billy.

Cliff was embarrassing but then he always is. It seemed to get better once the dross was out of the way.

Disappointed that Brian May and Ozzy were left out.

I agree with with all the comments with regards performers, and was suprised with Cliff he sounded awful and so out of breathe whilst singing. So did Paul McCartney, couldnt understand why he was top of the bill, in my humble opinion it shoud of been Tom or Shirley, I was disappointed Shirley only did the one number, Kylie was good, Cheryl Cole cant sing full stop let alone live and neither can Will.I.am but she can dance. Madness had to perform on the roof as there are about 146 members of the band and they wouldnt of got them on stage or off quick enough but loved them and all the graphics on the palace wall. I didnt think Jimmy Carr went down well, Lang Lang wasnt my cup of tea but there was something for everyone, the Queen looked emotional whilst Charles was doing his speech which I think was good for a royal , but I do find a man of 65yrs calling his Mother Mummy somewhat creepy. :-D

According to my OH, he read or saw somewhere that the songs were chosen for the artists, they were asked what to sing. (I don't know who by).

Maybe there were a lot of older singers because it was a tribute to 60 years reign and they will have been around for most of them.

I wonder if Shirley at her age (She is over 70 I think) would not have coped with more than one song in the open air? I don't know if she still does concerts.

But, to repeat myself, a great night and well done Gary. I too think he deserves a knighthood, although as one of the compares said, they were ten a penny backstage there. :-D

Well, I think the man who organised the river pageant deserves the knighthood - 1000 craft from all over the world, the current, the bells, the music, the safety, and the perils of the weather (which he could do nothing about :-)).

But, there weren't any 'celebrities' involved (other than ER), so I guess he doesn't get a look-in ;-)

Muffyxx Report 5 Jun 2012 10:14

I agree Sheila.....2 yrs that took to organise ....and a fine job he did too !!! x

It will still look wonderful on his CV :-D

Cof W - presume Annie Lennox was wearing Angel wings as she was singing 'There must be an Angel".
Would think that Madness was on the roof otherwise the fantastic lighting couldn't have been appreciated had they been down at street level. Many of the numbers were chosen for the artist as they had a theme to do with the celebration, hence Shirley Bassey's Diamonds are Forever. I also think that Robby Williams sang a Frank Sinatra number 'Mack the Knife' because the Queen admired him ( Frank Sinatra not Robbie Williams).
All in all I think there was something for everyone although I have to admit, I kept channel hopping as I wanted to see Rita get wed.-jl

I had the hump before it started, cos I put in for tickets and didn't get them.
:-0

So I watched it on tv...............nearly turned off cos old Robbie was the first one on. Strutting and gurning does not make you a good singer, son.

Cliff was a bit dodgy, or the sound system was up the creek. Got to admire Grace singing and hoola hooping at the same time.

MY PAUL did quite well, loved the pyrotechnics for Live And Let Die.

Alfie Bose is a revelation aint he? Great pitch and a bit dishy at the same time, although I did not know the American lady he was singing with on the balcony.

Stevie and Elton performed well, although I am not sure why Wil-I-am came on to sing with Stevie.

I thought Lang Lang looked like Michael McIntyre.

Concert over, I watched the fireworks out of my window.

I do love a good sparkler.
:-D

Kay????

Kay???? Report 5 Jun 2012 13:21

did anyone notice the lack of shots of Edward and Sophie,,,,,????not one peek of them anywhere,,,,,,were they at home having a BBQ ;-) ;-) :-D

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 5 Jun 2012 13:25

Those two have been very low profile all the way through the Jubilee celebrations....seen Andrew and Ann a lot but not Edward.

Sophie was at the palace yesterday because I saw a pic of her wearing a really odd trouser suit in the paper.

Not may favourite royals anyhow so it's a result for me lol x

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 5 Jun 2012 13:27

No, Edward and Sophie were there..............clapping out of tune.

:-D

Andrews gels seemed to be enjoying themselves and singing along.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 5 Jun 2012 15:58

I spotted Edward and Sophie at the concert and spotted Sophie on one of the boats, I think the same boat as Kate's Mum and Pippa (I assume her Dad as well but wouldn't recognise him.)
