Note for Wend

My seeds for runner beans and carrots suggest that you can plant out anytime during April, in the garden, rather than in the greenhouse. In fact last year we were given some runners in june, that were about 6 ins tall, and still were harvesting beans in September. So it would seem planting later and staggered means a longer harvesting time, so I wouldn't worry. Never grown sprouting broccoli, but understand it grows quite quickly.

Any old Wiring will do, Just strip off the outer cover and you can use that.

AnninGlos Report 9 Mar 2012 14:51

We have so many pots though Merlin that it would be expensive to put copper round all of them. Unless you know of a cheap means of getting some. Not seen it in the pound shop :-D :-D

Little tip for stopping snailos getting into your pots. wrap Copper Wire around the top ,it stops them, it works for me.**M**. Joy,Cleaning Windows??? :-S Must be related to "George Formby" :-D :-D Ps. as for cleaning the greenhouse windows, try the spray used for cleaning the shower doors ,put it on and hose it off.

Lesley
One idea I had works. Put your cleaning product into a spray bottle, Go inside the Greenhouse & sprey between the overlapping glass, Fold a rag around the end of a decorators scrapper, Place in the middle of the two pains of glass going along the glass in a up & down movement untill clean. It takes time but I have done this & found it works well. You wont be suffering the pain of cutting your hands.

Wend Report 9 Mar 2012 12:55

I've just been googling Lily of Valley climbers, LOL. Hadn't heard of them!
By the way, Puss, I've just been reading through this thread and thanks for your offer to send me a Valentine's card next year :-D

Can someone please tell me - I ordered some plug veg plants and veg seeds on line recently. It was a special offer package and yesterday I checked the delivery date. As it's in May, I rang them to query if the seeds would be sent earlier, so I can sow them. They told me they would also be sent in May and it would be OK to sow the seeds then. The seeds are Broccoli Purple Sprouting, Runner Bean, Carrot and Parsnip. I've always sown runner beans in April, but have never sown the other 3, but May seems late to me.

ChrisofWessex

ChrisofWessex Report 7 Mar 2012 22:02

Because I took ill and was unable to give it the annual pruning - had begged threatened OH - he insists it will die off - I tell him no - several times over years he has accused me of killing off a hebe only to see it - 'rise from the dead'.

Think I will ask next door to complain!! It is ridiculous.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Mar 2012 21:40

Gosh that is a tall one Chris. I think there are a lot of confused plants around this year.

ChrisofWessex

ChrisofWessex Report 7 Mar 2012 21:36

Have a hebe which is more of a tree than a bush (it is higher than next doors porch) and has had blossom throughout this winter but today noticed it has new fresh blossom here and there.
