i thinned my carrot seedlings yesterday, so i have 2 buckets full and enough to put some potted on my charity stall, i bubble wrapped my peach tree last night for the fear of frost, sweet corns are nothing yet , i have some nemphisis spelling flower seedlings, then i have a few tubs with you guess veg in the little bits of packet disapeared , but i will find out soon i guess |

Stray do not, repeat, do NOT dig the seeds up to see if they have rooted, most of them will take well over two weeks, maybe over three to germinate. Lettuc will probably be the quickest if you planted it. |

A friend told me last year that lettuce like to germinate at lower temperatures which could explain why I had found problems with germinating them in a hot summer. |

I grow about 60 sweetcorn plants so rather too many for cups but actually start germination on damp kitchen paper by the Rayburn in the kitchen and when I am sure they have started to sprout I plant them in the gutters. (I plant out before the roots merge) |

Yes the veg garden is quite large but do have a small holding. We grow in deep beds which make things easy as we dig manure in the pot beds each year and just hoe the rest so its not too bad in terms of work. |
