Yes it was a heck of a long day!!! (For her too no doubt.) But it was a good job we had people in for drinks as I had to prepare nibbles and heat sausage rolls etc which kept my mind ocupied.

sorry we had visitors all evening. Had a text from her OH about 8pm to say she was out of surgery and eating a sandwich, fine but sore and waiting to hear if she could go home. Not heard anything else. will let you know when I do. Probably tomorrow.

Not heard anything yet Jude. she didn't know what time the op was going to be as it is day surgery. I am hoping they let me know when she is through it but she did say it could be a late one as first she had to go to Southampton hospital to have dye injected and then drive to Winchester hospital for the op. I am hoping the ward is not one of those closed because of the Norovirus but I think I'd know by now if it was.

Ann, I hope your daughter's op will go well and things will look brighter as she recovers and gets used to the diabetes diet changes etc A worrying time for you all but so lucky it was caught early and can be dealt with speedily. I don't blame her for wanting the op over and done with.

I know you will be anxious, it's only natural, but try to relax as best you can. You will feel better when the op is over and you have spoken with your daughter

and thank heavens she went for that mammogram!

I was sooooooo mad when I read that latest report that mammograms are "not required".

As many of you know, I had a mastectomy (my choice) in September .......... that cancer was only 2 mm diameter (so Grade 1a), but was found because I'd had annual mammograms ever since the first cancer in 1995.

The first cancer was only found by a mammogram, and could not be felt, although it was almost 6 cm across

.... yes, 6 cm. But it was so deep that no-one could feel it, even knowing exactly where it was.

I had no pain, no outer visible changes ................ and I'd had a doctor's exam just 6 months before.

If I had had to wait until it was felt / painful / causing visible changes ......... I quite honestly would not be here now.

I'm one of the biggest proponents of mammograms ..............

PLEASE, ladies, never take the easy way out. Always have a mammogram at 2 yearly intervals.

Don't forget that you can always ask you GP for a referral!
