If you want to see something special, and a very different Cenotaph ..............

read this piece on the Canadian Cenotaph on Kandahar Airfield, in Afghanistan.

It commemorates 158 servicemen and women, and 4 civilians killed during our time there. Canadians are no longer fighting in Afghanistan, but 1000 servicemen will continue there as trainers.

The Cenotoph will be taken to pieces tomorrow, and shipped back to Ottawa, where it will be re-erected on a suitable site.

Hopefully, we will lose no more .............. although there is one more plaque to be added to the Cenotaph after it arrives in Canada. A Canadian soldier, a trainer, was killed in a suicide bombing at the end of October.
