I have been following this series and found it very interesting, lots of things I had heard about before but some not, like the Chinese workers in Liverpool being rounded up, whether or not they were married to English women and/or had children, and sent back to China, never to be heard of again. There were some very misguided schemes set up for the mixed race children who were taken away from a home they all knew run by the African Mission and sent to other children's homes and such. Must have been so frightening for them, the man who ran the Mission was locked in his office while the children were taken away. What kind of people arranged these schemes and did they never put themselves in the shoes of those affected, it was just as if they were 'tidying' things up. |
