Caz i know what you mean as i said before i was in tears writing the cards ,but it was something i wanted to do for our loverly friend and as thank you to all the friends who donated in Deanna name,we will all miss this loverly lady

Yes it has Rita, and also in my e-mails, she used to send me the funniest jokes and had a lovely way of writing to us with her funny wit and sayings, I will miss her a lot.

Liz I know it's been horrible for you to have had to tell us the news about Deanna and how upset you are about it, but without you no-one would be kept up to date about what's happening so thank you for that.
Rita I still can't believe it and have to keep telling myself she is an angel in heaven now. She was so loved on here and I wouldn't put it past her to be keeping a watch on us all.

Hi Tess,

We will be passing the money to Deanna's family so they can add it to other donations and then they can send it all together in Deanna's name.

Adding these threads has been the most awful thing I have had to do on gr and I wish with all my heart they hadn't been needed and our Deanna was still around to make us laugh and to talk with. I just hope that Tony and Allan can cope with the sad time they have ahead of them and the good times and happy memories will help them through.

I nice thought that the donations will go to a charity that Deanna supported.

Jane, thank you for offering to represent Deanna's GR friends at the funeral. It is very kind and caring of you.

I am devastated to hear of Deanna's death. She was a wonderful friend. Kind, funny and so very very caring.

My sympathies and love to her beloved Allan and Tony and her family.

Liz thank you about the flowers it was my pleasure to do this for such aloverly lady and good friend,and i thought they may have wanted it go to cancer research but what ever Deanna wishes were its good we were able to help ,and i wish to thank everyone who has been so kind to help

Jane has sent me the link to Deanna's Obituary notice and it reads as follows:


CARR Deanna Deanna, aged 71, passed away on August 21st, 2011, in the hands of her most cherished loved ones. Beloved wife of Alan, adored and selfless Mother, Grandmother and Friend. Funeral service to be held at the Albert Munn Chapel, Kettering Crematorium, on Wednesday, August 31st, at 1.30pm. No flowers. Donations in her memory to Cassa Alianza. If love could save, she and hers would have lived forever.



I had discussed by email with Tony, the donation recipients and Casa Alianza are a charity that Deanna donated to annually which cares for street children in Mexico and similar areas.

If it was something that Deanna felt strongly about then it's good that we can help in her memory. Dutch will forward the donations to the family with a nice card she has made so that they can pass on all donations together at a later date.

I hope everyone is ok with this, I know Dutch mentioned Cancer Research in her messages to people but at that time she was just guessing and didn't know the famiy's wishes.

Many people say better the flowers when you can see them and this has proved so true. Thanks Dutch for organising them and for deciding to send them to Deanna sooner than planned, it's great that they gave so much pleasure and and now are giving a little comfort.

Eileen (Cladagh) is still having problems getting on GR to post but she has emailed and asked me to add her condolences and to say how sad she is that she won't be getting messages from Deanna any more. She will add a mesage herself when she eventually gets on.

Thank you Jane for offering to go to Deanna's funeral. I only wish I could be there to say my goodbyes in person. Such a lovely lady.

I heard from Tony again and hope he won't mind me adding this paragraph from his email.

"I thought you might like to know this. I think I told you how much my mum loved the flowers she received. Well I have been so busy and distracted that it only just occurred to me yesterday that they are still sat there on the small unit in my parents living room where she made me put them so she could see them. Obviously they are now very decayed and I went to put them in the bin but my dad wouldn't let me move them and said he wanted them to stay right there until after the funeral. I think that spot is where she put her favourite things......they are right under a 'stitched' portrait of me as a young man and right next to a picture of me as a baby, so it must be."


Isn't that lovely? I am glad Allan has found the flowers comforting and so pleased that they made Deanna happy too.
