Hope you feel better soon, Chris. It's an awful illness.

We have a friend who builds oak gates, oak frames and so on. He was digging a 4 ft hole in our drive (to take a gate post) on his knees. He was really quick, I am not kidding you. I went out with a cup of tea and to ask why he was kneeling, and he told me he has COPD! Bending over makes him breathless.

He was very wheezy. He says he only works for friends now so we feel very honoured. His work is fantastic - but he's not well enough to do our last gate. We keep telling him not to worry, he says as soon as he feels up to it he'll be round.

I'm not expecting him to work any time soon. Or at all. He really should be taking it easy.

So Chris, don't go digging any holes, lol, and look after yourself. xxx

Well GP visited last Monday and arrived in again today. I am not making progress - perhaps the infection is a bit better, however I can only walk a few steps when I am gasping for breath and appetite is very poor.

Now on water pills, GP says I have some fluid on lungs and if no better by Wednesday - in I go. For a couple of months now OH has had planned to stay this weekend with gdau in London (son was coming to Mummy sit), I feel so annoyed as he has had to cancel - I know he can go anytime.

We are booked for a long weekend mid Sept (OH's bday) I want to go! If I could have a good cry without losing breath I would! Feel sorry for extra worry giving OH. Just want to feel as well as I did 3 months ago.

Maggie your posting did make me laugh! Thank you.

Hi Chris,
So sorry about your latest setback - but at least you're now on the right medication.
Hurry up and get better - I'm fed up with sidling up to strange ladies with walkers in T*sco's and hissing 'Chris?' One day it will be you!!! :-S
(hopefully I won't be banned before then!)

Was up there earlier, with daughter and grandsons (aged 3 and a half and 16 months). Younger lad gets bored at the checkout, and had a major tantrum while I was holding him. Got strange looks as I just laughed while he screamed, tears rolling down his face. (why wasn't I telling him off - he should be in bed [he never sleeps] etc)

Took him out to see the birds in the rookeries - immediate silence from him. Went back in and watched the birds through the windows. One happy boy :-D

It's only right that people are supporting you at this time, when YOU are the one who has been giving sound advice.and support to others with the same illness.
The news from your Consultant sounds very promising, and hopefully the hospital stay will not be needed.
The missus sends her very good wishes too ,with a thank you for the advice i passed on to her from you.
Get well soon,please ,Fred. :-)
