She was 27 yrs old. There's nothing that could be said to be incorrect or unjustified in assuming that drugs ultimately took her life...due to her long term addictions...and I remain HUGELY sceptical re the UK press as it's not what they say but what they don't say...THEY say she had no ILLEGAL drugs in her system..but that doesn't mean to say she had no LEGAL drugs in her system either..I don't believe a word they say...so excuse my cynicism. But it's not unusual for a long term addict to have a related crash due to their lifestyle.

AND as i said before it proves nowt and it won't bring her back.

But I'm sure as hell not going to back track on my initial feelings given the FACTS that were presented at the time.

**i'm quite prepared to be called the devil incarnate for my views..but they're mine and I stand by them.......I wish the girl no ill will........don't like to think of anyone dying before their time...but refuse to worship at the altar of her changed life when video evidence proved she was off her face not weeks before...call me harsh...but there it is .

I thought it would be nice to put the record straight after the condemnation and judgemental comments about Amy's death, many of which have been shown to be incorrect and unjustified. Some now deleted.

I think it matters to her parents how she died, they believed she was winning the battle against drug addiction and it must be a small comfort to them to know none were found in her body.

Let those without sin cast their stones.

Sleep tight, Amy.

I said my piece when the report of her death was announced.

I have studiously made a detour away from Camden Square ever since.

There had been people writing messages on the corporation street signs giving support. Camden Council were going to take them down and give them to the Winehouse family. Except someone got there before with their screwdriver. I despair.

I still believe the years of abuse made her heart just give out.

A very sad end to a short life.

RIP

No illegal drugs......what about legal ones then?

Anyhow. It doesn't much matter how she died..it won't bring her back...and as has been said before....considering her well publicised lifestyle and well documented battle with drugs..it's hardly a hanging offence to assume that drugs were involved ...even if indirectly.x

Gwynne

I don't think it was unreasonable to assume that drugs probably were involved in her death but that does not detract from the fact that I considered her a very talented person and was very sad she lost her life.

Whatever it was it won't bring her back. Leave her to rest in peace if it's possible.

Guinevere Report 23 Aug 2011 18:47

It was only today that the toxicology results were available. And they show she was clear of drugs, as her family said all along.

Some people anticipated the results incorrectly, assuming it was a drug overdose.

I stand by everyone of my post, I am sure it was reported a couple of days after her death that there was no drugs or drup taking equipment found in her house, but a week later along come the riots and not a mention of Amy, now low and behold same piece of news is reported once the riots news has finally quitened down.

MarionfromScotland

MarionfromScotland Report 23 Aug 2011 16:59

It was a waste of life of a young talented girl.
Whatever the cause was I dont expect the drink and drug abuse helped her.
It's a pity she fell into that 'trap' in the first place.
No doubt she would still be alive today if she haden't gone down that road.

No apologies for reviving this thread to quote from the BBC news website -

"Amy Winehouse: no "illegal drugs found" says family

Toxicology results have shown "no illegal substances" in Amy Winehouse's system at the time of her death, according to her family.

They say tests indicate alcohol was present but it cannot yet be determined if it played a role in the singer's death last month.

Winehouse's family thanked police and added that they await the outcome of an inquest on 26 October. "

So those on this site who jumped to the "drug overdose" conclusion on this thread were wrong. I wonder if anyone has the guts to admit they were wrong?

Amy *was* clear of drugs at the time of her death, just as her family said.

Chris I've not seen it on the news yet.
Thats a shame if ther trouble.

As for the fans leaving drink out' for her' I poured a Grouse Whisky down the burn after my Dads ashes. He liked a drink but didnt have a problem with it.

I expect drink that was left there will find a good home lol

So sad that Amy's fans are causing disruption outside her former home each night. Her family and true friends have conducted themselves with dignity.
