ROFLMBO (that's the polite version) and not at the choice of name although it's daft IMO.

Was reading this thread to my Mum earlier today and she thought it was hilarous

Her suggestion was Bothy

There have been a few versions of songs about Harper Valley PTA too :-)

*slaps thighs and stamps cowboy boots. You know this song has been running through my trivial, shallow little head since I heard the happy news.

Go Harpie!!!!!

I want to tell you all a story 'bout a Harper Valley widowed wife
Who had a teenage daughter who attended Harper Valley Junior High
Well her daughter came home one afternoon and didn't even stop to play
She said, "Mom, I got a note here from the Harper Valley P.T.A."
The note said, "Mrs. Johnson, you're wearing your dresses way too high
It's reported you've been drinking and a-runnin' 'round with men and going wild
And we don't believe you ought to be bringing up your little girl this way"
It was signed by the secretary, Harper Valley P.T.A.
Well, it happened that the P.T.A. was gonna meet that very afternoon
They were sure surprised when Mrs. Johnson wore her mini-skirt into the room
And as she walked up to the blackboard, I still recall the words she had to say
She said, "I'd like to address this meeting of the Harper Valley P.T.A."
Well, there's Bobby Taylor sittin' there and seven times he's asked me for a date
Mrs. Taylor sure seems to use a lot of ice whenever he's away
And Mr. Baker, can you tell us why your secretary had to leave this town?
And shouldn't widow Jones be told to keep her window shades all pulled completely down?
Well, Mr. Harper couldn't be here 'cause he stayed too long at Kelly's Bar again
And if you smell Shirley Thompson's breath, you'll find she's had a little nip of gin
Then you have the nerve to tell me you think that as a mother I'm not fit
Well, this is just a little Peyton Place and you're all Harper Valley hypocrites
No I wouldn't put you on because it really did, it happened just this way
The day my Mama socked it to the Harper Valley P.T.A.
The day my Mama socked it to the Harper Valley P.T.A.

Nah ..it sounds rather boyish for little girl.

Perhaps it was Harper Valley the deed was done !
I know Becks shirt No was 7......!!!!!!!!

But name given , they like it or are trying to make a statement, more likely for the publicity.

A child can change their name in later life, my ex SIL was Joan but called herself Nikki.

This just a light hearted thread, don't post if you don't want to !

I think the name Harper is lovely for a dog or a boy.........but it does'nt come across as very feminine for a little girl.
I think its lovely that children are named after the place they were conceived, although my son Bikeshed disagree's and my daughter Areyouavinalaff can't quite make her mind up.

The Harpers irritate the proverbial out of me but I think Harper is a cool name for a boy or a girl :D

I agree with Stray. There's enough doom and gloom in the world and I come on here from a break from it ! x

When I heard the names this morning I could not believe it - it used to be that registrars in UK anyway used to refuse to register outlandish names.

All I think of was 7 UP!!!!! Babe was born in seventh month, weighing 7 lbs something at around 7 a.m.

Give me strength!!!!!

Lizlynes - there is so much doom and gloom both in our own country and worldwide that we need to have a daft giggle along the way.

I do my bit in supporting charities but I also like to laugh - as others have said put up a thread and we will discuss there.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 11 Jul 2011 11:58

Lizlynes, you are going about his all wrong. People will discuss what you want but this thread is not about that. It is taking the thread 'off topic'. Start up a thread with the title that you want to discuss. I am sure people will then talk about the subject. But this thread is about the Beckhams baby and a general laugh. as I said we are not uncaring.

Well, that about sums it up! I could have thought a passing thought for others could have been interjected in all this 'light relief'!!

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 11 Jul 2011 11:44

feel free to put up a thread that intrests you,
but some people come on here for light releaf, not doom n gloom :-D :-D
