Harper seems a popular name in the US, my granddaughter has friends with what I thought were weird names, all girls BTW - Hunter, Magenta and Melena. I couldn't keep a straight face when I heard the last one, as a former nurse, there is only one definition for that word and it ain't pretty!!!!
Beyond me why one would call a child 'seven'.
Just MHO.

In todays paper it said that the choice was the boys'. Apparently there is somebody called Harper in their favourite Disney series.

Also it said that the name became popular in the 60s because of Harper Lee and To Kill a Mocking Bird.
