over 65 should drink less......does that mean i can drink more??


i must hang my head in shame on saturday night, i was "swigging" baileys from the bottle, well it was too far to go the kitchen for a glass

Well, we all know why the over 65's should drink less - more than a small glass and they go out of a night, graffiti'ing all over the place 'tut'.

What always spoils these 'Oh so farty' statistics, is they say 'a glass of wine' - like all wine was of the same strength!!!
Obviously statistics created by teetotallers!!!
I drink 11% - ex drinks 15% - quite a difference!!!
Radio 4 had a wonderful interview this morning with mr statistic and the lady in charge of 'Saga'. She slayed him :-D

On the TV Channel 4 news last night it included all alcohol. load of nutters with nothing better to do. Cheers.Hic. :-D :-D ;-)

Joan, Malt Whisky Should be drunk out of a Proper Lead Chrystal Glass, the only thing to go with it is Another Malt whisky. :-D ;-)

There were two guys on 5 News last nights discussing the reasoning behind this revelation, (believe the tests have been carried out in the US)and the doctor in favour of the tipple said that the feel good factor of having a social drink outweighed the damaged caused by the alchohol. The other guy said that a women should only be having one unit, no matter whether that was wine, spirit or beer.

Amokavid, my father always took whiskey in his tea, particularly when he visited his niece who ran a pub....in Yorkshire. So perhaps you are right it might be a Yorkshire thing. I must admit I take my Glenf*ddich with dry ginger and eat some pr*ngles....just because I can and as yet I am not going to change my feel good factor for the latest findings....jl

Its just something else to beat up on pensioners about. Next they will say we shouldnt be able to afford it anyway! OH is allergic to alcohol so we dont drink, but I used to like it in moderation. Maybe I should start on the red wine for my hearts sake! I had a slight TIA a little while ago and I done want another! :-D

*Feels guilty (Not) having just shared a bottle of Shiraz at lunch time with OH.

At least we din't spit in front of other people queuing for the bus unlike the uncouth young man in front of us.

Well Dizzi,I think if I were you,I would much prefer to fall when tippling rather than sober, so tipple away. Janet, quite right but easy on the Pringles :-)

As for afternoon boozers *glances at the lady from Gloucester...well why not, it gets you ready for the gin and tonic at 6... :-D :-D

I am so happy it is Thursday which means my liver has had a two day break and can get ready to be pickled again....Tra la la :-D :-D

Ladies and Gentleman of a certain age, to my knowledge, do not fall into and out of their mates cars and come home covered in bruises like my Daughter did the other night after celebrating her 20th birthday :-D

You all do it in far better style. lol
