is it a flounce like around the bottom of her bed, and how do I get to experience it ?

I'm thinking it might be best experienced from the underside of the bed to get the full effect ....... should I guess that Hayley never has dust bunnies ?

nah...you are wrong there

Hayley is the youngest.......she never ages...... :-D

That is what I mean.....why should there be idle chit chat on genealogy boards .......In my opinion it makes the threads too long and the answers harder to find......so until there is no chat on genealogy boards (isn't that why the chat boards were put on here)........there will be no answer and I will feel peeved every time I see someone chatting away on them.......If they want to chat....they should come on the chat board.........but better than that.......I will stop moaning about them, if they stop moaning about us :-)

Err Chrissie, you cannot be lower in age than Hayley, it just isn't allowed. You haven't experienced one of her flounces yet... :-D

If youre chatting about where would you look for this that or other or can anyone suggest then Chat is a good place as youre not asking for info help to be found but where you could look.......

We used to chat on TIPS quite happily but now the format has changed so drastically I can't see any other board that would suit the other way of asking for help than posting on Gen.

EDIT: shut it Hayley :-P :-P :-P

Oh Susan ( and you won' t mind if I don' t try to type out your numbers ! ) I have seen lots of 'chat' with people asking for help on the 'help' boards , they are people too after all :-)

Oh speaking for myself only...I did use the help boards when I first joined...then I discovered the chat board..and if i needed help i'd get it here...with added banter and laughs. There was a time when I tried to help someone on what was then tips..but by the time I got the info about 6 people had posted ahead of me so I figured it was a waste of my time...so I limited my help to others on occasional posts on here where I felt more useful x

and I guess I have to say maybe I am a little serious for my age

which is much lower than anybody else here of course ! :-)

Susan10146857 Report 17 Jun 2011 21:13

now see....I have never understood that Chrisie......I would never have dreamed of chatting away on serious Genealogy boards......for one thing it would lose the information very quickly on to another page. We are forever being told that chat is for chat boards and genealogy is for the others......so why should one be able to chat away on a trying to find or genealogy board......it always seemed like a double standard to me.

chrissiex Report 17 Jun 2011 21:13

I guess what I don't understand is why 'regulars to general chat' don' t post on the 'help' boards .......... to get help or to give help ...... :-)

Hayley, if your nudging 40 I am still in my pram :-D

I do agree that different boards are for different types of post, and certainly general chat wouldn't fit in the Find Living People board for instance, but I see no harm whatsoever in posting for a little help, in error or otherwise, in general chat. Regulars to general chat also research family history, and many have a lot of experience in doing so, and can also help out a little. Who knows, a help request thread could also have friendly chat while the help is being given?

What newbies don't want is to be jumped on whenever they post on the 'wrong' board by other members of the site who appear to be self appointed guardians, as can come across at times.

Banter in here has always been the same, and that is what turned this site into a living community.

Suzanne,

I still have some copies of threads where I was crying with laughter. If I was fed up I could always rely on people posting fun and I would quickly forget my problems whilst reading.

I rather suspect though that those sort of threads may be frowned upon now which is a shame :-(

chrissiex

chrissiex Report 17 Jun 2011 21:04

or ....... people who want to post threads like that could do it on the 'help' board ......... and invite their friends from the chat board to go there ......... all you have to do is put the link to the help board thread here on the chat board !

people who help newbies on the help boards really do have pleasant chats there too you know , at least when I used to post there some time ago ........

and I know a new mystery is always welcomed by the helper types who loiter around on the help boards :-)

otherwise you know this is sounding kind of 'cliquey' like I said in Rambling Rose's thread :-)
