I still think of Wednesday as "Cake Day" for Ash.

Hope that he has a lovely cake tomorrow.

And that the lovely lady that brought them to the hospital in Birmingham is well and happy.

Izzy I,m still here!!!!!!

I watch you all on fb and cant believe how well your whole family is pulling together ...when you have tears of sadness you should remember what you have all come through and how strong your family is ....

My only hope is that my family would be as strong as yours ....

It's been an amazing year for "our" Ash, for your family and the rest of us, safe in our homes, usually oblivious to the trauma of a soldiers life. Thank you Izzy for having the courage to share, and to educate us all. You have opened our eyes and given us the chance to share in Ashley's journey back. Thank you, so glad you've created this new thread.

There's a lovely video of Ash through the ages, with his colleagues as well, and Brothers in Arms (Dire Straits) in the background. I was in bits as I watched it but so good you are still here and not another statistic Ash.

Onwards and upwards, literally !

Hi Ash, I bet the learning to walk again feels strange but knowing you it will just be another thing you have will soon have mastered and it will open even more doors to you. You have been so inspirational to everyone and you and your mates must share a special bond now and be able to help each other fight back from the injuries that changed your lives.

I always thought Simon Weston was special the way he fought back from his dreadful burns etc and the injuries shaped his life in a way he would never have thought about had he come through the Falklands War unscathed. I now count you in the same way, you never gave up and just went on to do different things and make the most of life. You will have bad days, as you have already encountered but with your wonderful family and friends behind I know you will fight back and have a great future ahead.
