Hope you will be as happy as we are in our recently (February) acquired Association bungalow, semi sheltered. We were told about it but there was another couple interested so felt a bit down then got a 'phone call to say not near enough for them to their daughter and when we took a look accepted straight away and took up tenancy two weeks later. we are very luck with good friendly neighbours in the privately owned houses opposite and in the complex. Wishing you all the very best of everything in your new home.

If it's meant to be, you will get it Jules and if not, Fate has something better round the corner, that's the way I always think when I want something badly enough.

Hope it all goes the way you want it tho and great that you can be positive about joining in asap with local groups.

Thank you all for your messages...I haven't heard anything today so maybe sometime next week....The wait is awful but well worth it if they accept me...I have read up on Melksham and they have a craft group there so I will join as I love crafts of all sorts and make my own cards....Plus I will take up swimming again if the pool is accessible....

About Melksham

Melksham is a small market town (population 23,000) in Western Wiltshire on the banks of the Bristol Avon. Its position 10 miles south of junction 17 of the M4 on the A350 provides an excellent centre to explore nearby Lacock and Avebury and the attractive towns of Devizes, Bradford on Avon and the City of Bath.

Melksham appears in the Domesday (Doomsday) Book and its prosperity was founded on agriculture and the woollen cloth making industry. Today it is the home of Cooper Tires and modern businesses based on new technology.

There are excellent recreational facilities within the town including a gym, swimming pool and sports centre. A large range of clubs and societies cater for most tastes and range from Line Dancing to the Historical Association and everything in between. There is a good pub atmosphere in the town with many offering live music and other events.

The town still retains its old nucleus of houses grouped around the beautiful parish church just away from the busy shopping centre. Melksham is well served by bus companies and though at the moment the train service is limited there are plans ahead to improve this.
