Good on you Dolly. Slow but sure is the thing. If you lose it too quickly you might find you cant resist a craving. I am behind you (trying to hide my own figure!).

ladylol I have managed to set myself at a pace for fm, I used to rush through the house like a tornado, that was a few years back, but these days I just can't, I have a lot of pain, usually the worst in my feet, but yesterday I started with back pain and I still have it today, so not much will get done today,
I don't do more than I can manage these days which is why the weight gain, I just need to learn to eat according to my calorie burn off. I do have a slow metabolism and should have known better than to eat for comfort, its all my fault that I am this size, and only I can sort it, which is what I am going to do :-)

Huia, thats the trouble having a small amount of chocolate, it soon amounts to a whole packet! thats my downfall, I don't know when to stop lol.
I am hoping this time I will manage to drop the weight off.
I don't have BP problems or high cholesterol or diabeties in fact my cholesterol is 2.3 and the bad cholesterol is barely countable, so thats excellent, its not as if I don't like veg, fruit and healthy foods, I also love the fattening foods as well, I'm not a cake or biscuit eater, I prefer savoury especially cheese and adore pastry.

Dolly, I put on 500 gm weight after eating those choc. kisses. That is over a pound. But I have now lost most of it again. I never learn. I did manage to resist temptation when I was shopping today.

I have the same problem, it annoys me when people say walk or exercise, i know its not there fault , but with fibro the more u do the more u hurt, the best thing i ever did was the pain management programe, , we learned about pacing, if you do the washing up and it takes all day so what because by the time youve started hurting you have gone to far, so wash a plate rest wash another then rest and so on, i used to worry about people coming to my home if i hadnt hooverd or dusted if its brought up i say would you like to do it subject is soon dropped.

hope ur doctor can help you xx agree with walking though slowley x

Hi Huia,
Sorry I missed your reply, how naughty of you eating all those chocolate kisses :O
You will regret it, but isn't chocolate lovely!! ;-)

Sandy my GP surgery has nurses that we can visit for help with weight, but all they will do is weigh you and say well done, I've been to them before, it didn't work.
I have had a phone call today from the NHS Why Weight, I have been offered 12 weeks free at weight watchers and another 12 weeks if I am doing ok in the first 12 weeks, I can get back to them for more options if I need to. I am happy to start ww and see how it goes.

I ate a bit too much of naughty foods at the weekend in Sheffield but am back to my normal foods now and will try and lose a few lbs more each week. I really hate the thought of taking meds for bp

Wish I could find the energy to walk more and do other exercise but it's so much a catch 22 situation at the mo

Good luck to all who are trying to lose weight.

Hello Emma,
Thank you for replying to my post. I hope your knee heals well and you get your mobility back.
I hope my appointment on monday goes well and will keep you all informed of how things go.
I have had a couple of foot ops in the past few years, the second has caused me to become quite immobile, its such a horrible feeling that your ability to get up and do things like I used to I can no longer manage, I miss my gardening and walking, I use a scooter when ever I go out these days as walking too far causes me more problems with my feet and hips.

Thanks again.

Morning Dolly I have the same problem with weight through
health issues and immobility but am on the mend after knee
replacement and have been more active this past week than
in a long time. I remember years ago someone said, eat like a
king at breakfast, a prince at lunch time and a pauper at dinner
time, smaller plate sizes helps me out. Good luck to you and all
like us who are doing their thing to lose weight.

Hi Barbra,

I know its going to have to be a life change forever, or the weight will go back on, I've dieted all of my adult life, I'm 54 now, I have cravings for sweet things and salty things so something is wrong somewhere in my diet.
I shall ask my GP about seeing a dietician and see how it goes.
I shall keep you all informed of how it goes :-)

Thank you for your help.

Hi Pat,

Thank you for your info, I will be ok as I don't have alcohol, but like you I avoid low fat products while I diet as it is usually laced with sugar, I know I get board with diets and seem to spend all my time trying to find some lovely recipe that I could have and thats when I get board, trying to work out a lovely eating plan that will give me enthusiasm to carry on, I adore food, I hardly ever have a take away, I love my veg but I also love meat, cheese eggs and pastry! and sitting down a lot of the time doesn't help, it all turns to fat as I use none of it up being energetic.
I know where I am going wrong, it would be so lovely if someone just served up a plate of food 3 times a day and it was suited to me to lose weight. :D

thank you for your help.

Hi Liz,

Yes, the fibro is exhausting but so is the arthritis, I am always tired as I don't sleep well, I really feel for you, its horrid.
I absolutely love cheese, its my biggest downfall, I do try and cut it out as much as possible these days but find it hard when I'm on my own and board!
I still have family at home so there are lots of lovely things to eat that I know I shouldn't have, although I am the only fat person in the house I cannot not get the things they like to eat.
I shall have to have much more self control.

Hi Huia,

So sorry about your hubby.
Congratulations on losing your weight, you must be so pleased with yourself.
I will have to have more willpower and buck up my ideas and stop kidding myself that what I am eating is ok, it obviously isn't ok or I wouldn't be fat!
I just get board and eat for comfort, I know its been a stupid thing to do but now I know its going to be a struggle to lose weight, far harder than it was to eat the food and put the weight on!

Thank you both for your help.
