Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 24 Nov 2011 04:09

I was at the surgery yesterday getting checked out to see if I do really have asthma, the nurse said after the tests that I am only very slightly asthmatic so do not need the twice daily inhaler I have been using for years. I think when I was first diagnosed in 2004 I was using a lot of cleaning materials etc as I was looking after my friend's student houses and also some elderly neighbours homes. I forgot the inhaler when I went on holiday in Sept. so it made me wonder if I really needed it, as I had no illeffects or problems while there or since. The nurse weighed me and I have lost a couple of kilos, she said pounds but I soon corrected her lol, 2 kgs is actually 4.4 lbs so am happy with that. I would lose more weight if I had the energy to do more brisk walking or exercise but with the fm and arthritis that's not easy to do.

i am cutting back on red meat and eat lots of veg and such. I have been watching the prog called the Food Hospital and that's interesting, telling how different foods affect different illnesses.

Good luck with the weight loss folks

Barbara, do not despair. After such a difficult time it's not surprising things have gone awry. Exercise is a very tiny factor in weight loss, what you eat is overwhelmingly more important, so your mobility problems are not an obstacle.
All weight loss programmes ultimately depend on swapping rubbish for healthy food,. Apart from seeing a dietician, consider a slimming group, you will get lotsof support and it gets you out to meet new people too.

Most importantly - you shouldn't ever feel hungry or deprived..

Good luck to you!

Hi. I have also put on three stone and increasing. I find I sit down much more than I used to and if I go out anywhere I have to use crutches, which means I cannot do much walking either. I have tried swimming, or even walking in the water, but my right leg keeps going in cramp. I get really fed up and must admit I had not thought of asking doc. to refer me to a dietician. I recently lost my husband and the fact he was ill for a long time has left me very very tired and it does not matter what I do I cannot seem to get away from it.

Barbara :-D

Brilliant Dolly. You inspired me to keep on the staight and narrow. Nearly in the 11's and would ideally like to be slightly lower, despite having a weekend away. It is just really good to fit clothes better or need a smaller size.

Keep inspiring us

Morning everyone, thanks for keeping me going. I am off for a weigh in again today, I missed WW 2 weeks ago as I was away, I went last week and had lost 1 1/2lbs, which brings my total of loss to 23 1/2 lbs in16 weeks so I am very pleased with that. I still have a fair way to go to get to 10 stone which was my aim, I started at 14st 1lb and now weigh 12st 5lbs, I keep setting myself a challenge to aim for, at the moment its to get to the 11's and to also lose 7lbs before Christmas. I do have blips, like yesterday, I just couldn't stop eating, I stuffed all day and felt really sluggish this morning, but today I am back to feeling better. I didn't eat things I shouldn't have yesterday, just my usual food but loads of it!! :-0
we will see today what happens, I don't feel like I've lost any weight at all.

Well done all of you who are trying hard to lose weight, its not easy but well done! :-)

Hayley, up to you, but you are really doing it the hard way! And more likely to regain weight when you stop dieting. 1100 calories is pitifully few especially if you are exercising hard.
Just my opinion! But I do like to eat a lot so it wouldn't suit me.

Very well done Dolly.

I have been watching this with interest, having been slimming (with Slimming World) since March - 40lbs so far, 30 or so to go! Aiming at total of around 5 stones off. I only lose 1/2-1lb a week but that suits me fine. No exercise apart from walking to the fidge!! I hate exercise though I am aware it has health benefits before anyone says anything.

Keep it up Dolly, just think of those slinky outfits you will be able to wear!

No hope for me at the mo, have just eaten a lovely bowl of Youvetsis, pasta shaped like grains of rice with beef, cheese and olive oil. Have been walking a bit more so maybe I can balance things out but have had some lovely greek food these past days and walked back from the village afterwards.

No scales so not worrying lol

Brilliant Dolly. I had a blip but managed to loose weight in the last month including on holiday last week. Now 17 lbs in total. Resisting cake and chocolate at work now seems easier.

Wish I could do the 10,000 steps a day like Helen and am most impressed with you both :-)

Well done, all of you. I am stuck at a 9lb weight loss and have been for ages - but it's been a busy summer so I am grateful not to have gained anything. I wear a pedometer all the time and make sure I do 10.000 steps a day, even if I have to march for a bit on the spot!

Morning everyone,

I hope everyone is well?

I haven't been on this thread for a while.
I thought I would update you.
Up until last wednesday, I have lost in total 21 1/2 lbs, I didn't make the 21lbs by the 22nd as intended, I didn't put any on either :) so thats a bonus, the weight just wouldn't shift quick enough for that date, but I am there now, so thats a bonus!
I weigh in today so shall add my new weight here later.

Well I went out to eat last evening, had pasta meal but it wasn't very big and drank water, had no starter or dessert so shouldn't have been too bad.

I want to weigh myself on Tuesday before I go to see the nurse to get my bp checked and will ask to be weighed there as well, then it will give me an idea whether our scales are accurate. If they are I seem to have gained weight again, a month ago at the doc's I was 82 kg now our scales say I am 85 kg!

i don't think I have had any side effects from the medication, bit hard to tell as I sometimes get hot flushes anyway but I am feeling a bit low, several factors contributing tho so don't think it's the tablets.
Will see what happens when I see the nurse next week and get my next lots of medication.

Hope you are ok Dolly and still keeping up the good work

Hi Everyone,

Liz I hope you are ok on your BP meds.

Barbra, I am still doing my WW, I have been again today, I've lost another 1lb, so I am gradually getting there. In total now I have lost 18 1/2 lbs,
thats 1st 4 1/2 lbs!! I am pretty pleased with myself :-)

I am really looking forward to my couple of days away with hubby, it will be our first time away on our own since we've known each other, we didn't have a honeymoon, my daughter broke her arm quite badly the day before the wedding so we didn't get away.
Hopefully this time it will be good, kids are grown up now and are looking after my hens and Sid, my cat.
They are good at looking after things and ding things around the house, they both cook and know how to use a vaccum, not sure they will do washing even though they know how to use the washing machine. I've trained them well ;-)

By the way, have just started meds for the higher bp I have been suffering.
First one taken today so will let you know how I get on when I have had a few more, doc said main side effects could be headaches and flushed face, lovely! I have to go back in two weeks for bp check to see if they are helping.
