Q17.
Can you understand, speak, read or write Welsh?
Tick all that apply.
and then the boxes and answer choices.

Oh Lord, I'll probably get done now for divulging what's in a top secret Govt. form.....better not put down the answer choices here, though I think you can prob guess .

K

P.S.
So what have you got for Q18??

Question 17
This question is blank
Why is question 17 blank?

Question 17 is blank in England.

We aim to keep the England and Wales questionnaires as consistent as possible. Question 17 is about the Welsh language and is only included on the questionnaire in Wales. This question is not required in both countries, so a space has been left.

Got mine today. Well, I actually got 2, one in English and one in Welsh as I live right on the border! It says if you are away at the time, then complete the census form when you get back - how long will they wait I wonder, as I'm about to go back to the desert!

JoyBoroAngel - I didn't see the question and tick box facility for "where's the free pen" LOL.

I'm just reading through it now.

Why the heck do they want to know what type of blinking heating I have here !!!!!!!! I also agree with Uggers...the qualifications are also irrelevant...I'm going to award myself a doctorate :0)

Just had a quick look at ours which came today.
What Im thinking of doing is ,as well as keeping a copy...copying some blank pages and filling them in for thae previous cencus years ...pop them in with family tree...Just the basic pages though..

What a pity that unlike America we don,t have the Fifth amendment.then we could tell them to mind their own business.

I agree with you Muffy - too intrusive. For some reason, the qualifications question particularly irritates me and I don't think I'm going to answer that.

Am thinking more of along the lines of offering a different language for every ethnic race resident in their country e.g. Urdu. mandarin etc!
Well Canada does it because of Quebec who will refuse to speak in english.

I believe Wales offers Welsh/English but don't know about other countries. Canda offering English/French makes sense as part of Canada was colonised by the French, while the rest was by the English.

I forgot to fill in the last census form (I wasn't doing my family tree then) but an enumerator came round so they filled it in.

Edit: just seen Joeva's post, the first part of mine was in response to Chris's question.

As a matter of idle couriousity do other countries offer forms in many other lanuguages? I know Canada does in english/french.
