weird story
years ago me and mum raced greyhounds with respective partners ..one night we were both racing the same night, the same track ...not a track that knew me that well.

A dog got injured in the race I was in so I went to check with the owner....

some person came back also nattering on then left ..the owner of injured dog said sorry I can't stand that woman she is so Bl**dy annoying *quick rant* I just said I know what you mean she's my mother ...

SILENCE ...lassie said OMG I am so sorry but I don't like her .I couldn't say much for laughing but me and said lass stayed friends whilst I was on the greyhound scene ..

On the other hand I have been told many times that I am at fault as all Mum wants is some love etc etc she is great she is lovely ....believe me they don't hang around over long they soon give her back !

If anyone borrowed her, she would probably be really nice to them, My mums mum is like that and nobody believes how bad she is.

Poor you Uzzi, she really is the limit, isn't she? Hope you can stay calm and not let her rile you too much, try and think past her trip and how righteous you will feel after she goes back, if you danced a little to her tune and still managed to put yourself and o.h. first!
Have fun with the friends coming to stay, you will have them on your side that first week? and will outnumber your mother well lol

Your mother is never going to change but you can. You have identified the things that make it very difficult to have her around you so work on them. Be firm, try not to let her rule you and don't allow her to cause friction between you and your husband. She cares only for herself. You need to start doing the same. Easy words I know. It would be interesting to see how she would react to you if you stood your ground.

Thinking of you and hope the psoriasis is not getting any worse.

Chris I understand all that you say I apologised because I knew you could understand ...noy easy to b told you are like the person you dislike

OH has never really done that altho' he has said we are alike ..but he agrees I am not selfish , *sighs* he does say I was spoilt and for years has buffered the 2 of us thinking she mother dear may be right ,,he now knows she bl**dy well isn't.

He has 1st hand of her ..she wants she will get or she will sulk and cut us out of the will !

Don't worry about taking me back - does not bother me now - it was just I could relate to your feelings. My kids used to say 'you are like Nana' to wind me up and i would blow a fuse!!! So OH is probably doing the same - if you had been like her - he would not have married you!

Whatever chant suits you best!! Take care. Selfish people are always that, their self is the centre of their universe - you do NOT certainly come across as that.

lol@ she plays the devoted mother idea ..when I broke my ankle in 5 places was in a non walking cast she came to see me as the adoring mother and I still cooked and cleaned for her. and I hate to admit danced to her tune ...

OMG - I have just gone back a few years and I do sympathise so very very much.

Have a coffee/tea, if you smoke have half a dozen, get a teacloth and wring it - pretend it is something else and take big big breaths.

Remind yourself you are yourself and no you will not be like that when you are old - age has nothing to do with self-centred selfishness - it has always been there.

Get a friend to put a plaster of paris on your leg, you cannot visit - no forget that she mght decide to play the devoted mother.

Just hang on to your husband and count off the days until her departure from your shores.

Try a new chant - I do not like her, I do not like her, I might love her I do not have to like her.

I'm going to scream and scream and scream until I make myself sick lol

15minutes later and in the middle of the road with mutts shouting at other attacking them

Mum is it booked
Me you didn't ask that
Mum will you see if it is booked then
me yes okay that's for the 31st may for 3 wks
Mum No the 24th I am coming out a week earlier as T has that week off.
Me *stunned into silence trying to rein 2 mutts in and kick a 3rd away* ok phone me in an hour I am not indoors


Now yes I did tell her OH was off work the week earlier to explain why he couldn't take time off whilst she was here. I have also explained that he has friends out ..well they are mine more so but that sounded better. ~~~~~ to A&K if you look in.

Anyway yesterday I couldn't get through so mother dear phoned today.

with a that's ok as OH can drop me off etc etc no thought that I ME MYSELF might just like to spend time with my hubby on his week off....no on she goes well I thought if he was off he could look after the dogs and u could come and stay !!!!

Now OH is a placid chappy (bless him) and normally buffers between us but has now said that he has had enough
YIKES and she's not even here yet ..*sobs*

Still I stayed calm on the phone and said Mum you do realise that changing dates you will miss my birthday
No I won't but I will have to leave on that date

lol Vera you wasn't harsh at all about my love for Mum. I am my worst critic.
Yes you are also correct that I knew if I stressed my psoriasis would flare up, but I didn't expect so quick or so violent ..once more my own fault because I allowed it to happen. Mind never have I had it like now lol I wil get it sorted and hey who knows if I don't, just maybe I have something that my hypochondriac mother doesn't have.

Just had to post to say how sorry I am to hear your psoriasis has returned but yoiu knew that was going to happen. I did not mean to be harsh over your love for your mother rather I was angry for you for I had known different.

My mother had psoriasis for years and it is difficult to treat but there are new treatments coming on all the time. I expect the trigger was the stress you are under and goodness knows how you can relieve that. Just try to be a little firmer perhaps and realise you are worth better.

Uzzi, sorry to hear the psoriasis has returned, and hope you can feel less stressed and get clear of it again. Could you not collect a carton of sea water and bath your bits? It might help a bit if you believe in it strongly enough.

Chris I live in the MUD area but it's ruddy cold for me to go diving in the sea ..plus I am saving that for mother dear ..*grins* with hope that we can bond !!!!!

hello all I love my Mum too we are orf to the seaside for some mother daughter RnR x

I know it is stress which causes and heaven knows the stress is showing now. Old friend - tried everythin until GP told her to go paddle/swim in the sea two or three times a week. Hers did clear up. Are you able to try this?
