Rose invest in an answering machine. I have mine switched on right now and if anyone calls that's what they'll get because I'm not answering the phone.

Awww Rose, don't go yet. Was just about to tell you about my recurring flatulence problem, SO feel free to be very bad mannered, if you like, but please do not be Ignorant...it is not in your nature! LOL bc xx

Rambling

Rambling Report 24 Feb 2011 11:51

we can't know which it was in this instance...but if I am bad mannered and rude it is generally a conscious decision on my part :))

after all maybe someone WANTS to use bad manners? maybe they WANTED to be rude...not through 'ignorance' or 'lack of education' but because they felt someone deserved it :))

If it's just the usual "no one is replying to my messages" maybe they have good reason...maybe what THEY are doing is more important, necessary, enjoyable than what YOU ( the general 'you') want them to do :))

Rose, tired of phone calls from people who think their time, woes, interests are more important than mine ;) lol going in the garden to avoid the phone and commune with nature...have a nice day all , do something you ENJOY!

xxx !

What i find interesting is that the originator of this particular thread is not responding. have they forgotten that they also posted on here. baring in mind Dermot's comment which I endorse i will give the originator the benefit of the doubt.

InspectorGreenPen

InspectorGreenPen Report 24 Feb 2011 10:28

And so we still don't know which people have been behaving rudely through lack of knowledge of good manners (Oxford Dict def)

So, presumably, based on the definition, if you know about good manners but fail to put them into practice you can't be classed as ignorant?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 24 Feb 2011 09:57

Well funnily enough the opening poster has posted on another thread thanking people for their help only 40 minutes ago - how ignorant to not come on here and thank the people who have answered for their comments.

Also if you have a gripe over manners with someone take it up with them, dont try and encroach everyone else into bad mouthing someone else.!

SpanishEyes

SpanishEyes Report 24 Feb 2011 09:53

I agree about the person who started this thread not coming back to see and comment on the replies, unless of course they are ill or there is another reason why. perhaps they will let us know in the next few days.

IslandinTheSnow.

I also find the topics you mention rather aggressive, isn't it strange that the English Language has so many wonderful words to describe each situation and yet we seem to use the same old expressions or words!

Maybe we should open another thread about the English Language!

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 24 Feb 2011 09:32

I think it's bad manners to put up a thread and not come back to acknowledge the comments made.

HappyBunny40.

Maybe you were one of the lucky ones but not everyone is taught about good manners and even if they are not everyone who knows about good manners
uses those same "good manners".

Good manners are also affected by so many different things for example culture, where you live, fear of being ridiculed or simply being bloody minded.

Can yo give an example when you were not treated with good manners??
